Chapter 1: A New Chapter
June 2018
Ten months had passed since that fateful night. The morning sunlight peeked through the bedroom windows with birds chirping. Gold opened the bedroom door and went to the side of her bed.
“Today is the day. A fresh start, a new chapter... Funneh, Funneh!” Gold sweetly woke her up for the first day as a senior at YHS.
“Nooo..” Funneh groaned.
“Funneh, get up! Come on!” Gold shouted.
“Gold, just like, five more minutes, then I promise I’ll get up,” Funneh snapped, her voice dripping with irritation.
“You always say that, and it turns into one hour if not the whole day. Now get your butt out of bed!” Gold said firmly.
“Okay, okay! I’m awake,” Funneh grumbled, finally dragging herself out of bed. She rubbed her eyes and yawned.
In the kitchen, Gold prepared chocolate chip pancakes for their breakfast. She set the plate of chocolate chip pancakes aside and spotted their remaining picture with Valerie. Curious, she picked it up and remembered all the remembrances they had with her during their junior year.
“Time passes so fast. I’m now a senior. If Valerie didn’t die so soon, she would be a senior by now. We will try to give you justice, Val.” Gold sighed.
Funneh came downstairs and put her backpack down on the couch. Gold hoped Funneh would finally appreciate her cooking, given her track record of burning food.
“Morning, Gold.”
“Morning, Funneh.”
“Wow, time flies, huh?,” Funneh said.
“Yeah.” Gold calmly responded.
“By the way, why did you wake up super early?” Funneh baffledly questioned.
“I woke up to find cooking recipes on MineCulinary Delights!” Gold answered.
“So, what did you cook?”
“Chocolate Chip Pancakes! I promise you, my food is good.” Gold reassured her.
“Oh no, here we go again.”
Funneh sits at the dinner table, and Gold comes by to serve their breakfast.
“Uhh... I will save this chocolate chip pancake for later.” Funneh stammered.
Funneh cautiously took a bite of the chocolate chip pancake. But as the flavors exploded in her mouth, a look of surprise and delight replaced her initial hesitation. The pancake is fluffy and perfectly cooked, and the chocolate chips add a delightful sweetness.
“Gold, this is amazing!” Funneh exclaimed, her taste buds dancing with joy.
“I can’t believe how much your cooking has improved!”
Gold beamed with pride, thrilled to have finally won Funneh over with her culinary skills.
“See? I told you my food is good! I’ve been practicing and experimenting with different recipes. Looks like all that effort paid off.”
Funneh chuckled, realizing that she had underestimated Gold’s determination and dedication to improving her cooking. She took another bite, savoring the delicious flavors and feeling grateful for the surprise breakfast treat.
Senpai’s heart felt heavy as he made his way to the cemetery, a bouquet of red roses clutched tightly in his trembling hands. It had been three years since Valerie’s passing, but the pain of her absence still lingered within him.
“Valerie, I miss you so much. I brought you these red roses, just like you loved.” Senpai whispered.
He knelt before her gravestone, placing the bouquet gently on the ground. But as he looked closer, his eyes widened in disbelief.
“No... Where is the coffin? How can it be missing?”
Confusion and fear washed over him, leaving him speechless and disoriented.
“I won’t rest until I find out what happened. I’ll protect your memory, Valerie.” He is determined.
With a heavy heart, he walked away from the empty grave, vowing to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of Valerie’s resting place. The red roses lay forgotten on the ground, a symbol of the love that had been stolen away. Senpai’s journey for justice had just begun.
