Cried Wolf: A Short Story
SDrew’s coworkers weren't too fond of him. Over the years he had become lazy and could not do his manual labor job. While he bragged to his family and unhappy wife that he was a proud, blue collar worker that worked hard with hands, his hands were mostly used to support him leaning against things as he overly talked. Sometimes it was non work related, but mostly he would talk about work or a made up problem regarding work, instead of working.
He was also a loud man. A very loud man. It took some getting used to. Eventually his coworkers around him ignored his loudness. They had learned if they didn't, all their time would be consumed by his need for validation.
Unfortunately, Drew didn't see a need to change his habits. So when he had an accident at work and shouted out, no one came to his aid.
