Chapter 1 Carren
The sound of soft lofi music was playing in the background in a room with the sound of typing. I was working on my book for the last week and I am just stuck on chapter three of my new book, which is an action romance book. I have always done fantasy books my whole life, even when I was a little kid. Now here I am stuck on chapter three for four weeks and I was getting frustrated about it. Looking at the screen of my laptop as I saw my reflection from the screen. My long blond hair in a messy bun that strands of hair is here and there, my glasses (that are for reading and working) on my face that the frames are round. (Kinda like Harry Potter glasses but a bit bigger.) Green eyes stare back into mine as I sighed. Looking over at the pictures that were on my desk. One is me and my family when I was ten, and the other one is me in my Hamilton cosplay outfit with my friends on Halloween.
Meow.
I looked down and saw my pet cat Peter. He is a British Longhair golden hair car. I smiled down at him and picked him up as his fur was soft to the touch.
“Hey Peter, food time?” I asked as Peter looked at me with his sea green eyes while doing a meow. “Okay baby boy, let’s go get some food.” I said while getting up while holding Peter in my arms.
I was wearing a baggy navy shirt with a dragon on the front saying ‘I am Fire, I am Death’ (from the Hobbit) and baggy gray sweatpants. Walking out of my office slash bedroom and to the kitchen as Peter purrs with bless in my arms. Placing him down on the counter and starting to get his food in his food dish. Have the dish in my hand while Peter’s tail sways a bit as I place his food dish by his water dish as Peter jumps down from the counter and runs over to his food dish. While Peter was eating his food, I headed off to the living room as I sat down and pulled out my phone to see what new movies were coming in the theaters this weekend. Scrolling through the theater website as there was nothing good or interesting to see in the movie theater.
“Well Carren, there is nothing to go see this weekend. I guess it’s a home movie.” I told myself out loud with a sigh.
I turn off my phone and place it on the couch next to me as I lean into the couch seat. Scanning the movie pile that was next to the TV stand. I sighed and got up and walked over to the stack of movies next to the TV.
“Let’s see, Lord of the Rings all three, the Hobbit all three, My Hero Academia movies, all Harry Potter movies, Narnia all three...” I mumbled while scanning and running my pointed finger on the case covers. “Marvel movies, Star Wars, DC, all Sniper movies, some horror movies, Top gun and Maverick, and some romance movies...and my new movies that I got over the week.” Grabbing the new movies that I got and looking at them as I pressed my lips together as I wondered what movie to watch till Anyone but You really caught my eye. “I guess Anyone but You.” I grabbed the movie and took it out of the case and placed the disk to the blue-ray player.
Meow.
Look down as Peter was sitting there now on my left side while cleaning himself. I smiled and walked to the kitchen to get something to eat. I made some popcorn and Ramen with a hotdog as I missed breakfast. After Getting my food I headed back to the living room where Peter was lying on the cough as the main screen of the movie was playing.
“Well Peter, ready for a romance comedy movie?” I said while sitting down next to Peter as he meows and purrs happily. “Yeah, something that might help with my brain for my book.” I joked while pressing the play button and the movie started.
After some time I was done with my hot dog and Ramen and now eating the popcorn while the movie was playing. In the middle of the movie I got a text message. Grabbing my phone to see who texted me and I smiled as if it was one of my good friends. Avery Storm. Opening the text message to see what she texted me about.
Avery: Hey girl! How is your book coming along?
Me: Hey! I am stuck on the same chapter so I am taking a break. Right now I am watching Anyone but You.
Avery: Fun! And that’s not good that you are stuck. Still on chapter three?
Me: Yup...still don’t know what to write in that chapter.
Avery: That sucks...hey I was wondering if you would like to hang out with me, my girlfriend, and Jean? Going to be at the bar.
I thought about it for a bit. Getting out and being with my friends might relieve some stress. Smiling and text back.
Me: Sure! When are you free?
Avery: How about in two weeks or so? Anna has extra work at the zoo and me working at Hot Topic and Barnes and Noble we are kinda booked. But I will let you know when I am free so go for Anna.
Me: Sounds good to me. Just let me know when you are free.
Avery: Well do, girl! Have fun with the movie and see you hopefully soon!
Me: Okay, and I will. Bye bye for now.
Avery: Bye bye.
I place my phone down and look at the TV as the movie is still playing. Peter moves over to my lap as he lays down and I start petting him softly. Feeling his soft golden fur through my fingers while feeling his purr vibration on my lap as I felt relaxed from his purring.
“Good boy, Peter.” I told him while rubbing behind his ears.
Once the movie was over, I got up while Peter jumped down and I stretched a bit. Take out the movie and put it back in its case then put it away. Turning off the TV and heading back to my bedroom office with Peter behind me. Sitting down in my office chair as Peter jumped into his white fluffy cat tree as he lay down. I sighed and looked at my kinda messy desk with notes, homework for my book, sticky notes, and little notebooks with my characters in them and my laptop. I grab my laptop and place it on my other table that is smaller while it is next to my desk and I pull out my sketchbook and open it to a blank page. I thought for a bit before I started drawing my characters in my book. For the rest of the day I drew while listening to a playlist that was still playing on my Alexa.
