Have you eve noticed that when making the Nigeria Budget of each year, the educational sector is also included and in most of the time seems to be among the top five, but yet the questions are always the same, "Where is the money Budgeted?"
Nigeria has over 500 public schools, 110 unity schools, over 30 Federal universities and also have 40 States universities that is under the Academic staff union of universities popularly known as (ASUU), payment of Staffs should be one of the main purpose of the said budgeted money for education and yet the (ASUU) staff still goes on strike practically every year.
Let's bring it down to ourselves and leave the government for the meantime, we see thousands of children on the street out there in Nigeria, that are either school drop out or haven't entered formally, the four corners of a nursery school not mention secondary or primary schools.
At this point is it the government to be blamed?, speaking on the School dropout one may say finance is a major obstacle to most parents, but to prove that wrong, they are thousands of public schools that are cheaper to the price of a cup of rice, In most cases of School dropout, we hear of a girl being pregnant in the school and that will warrant her joining the troop of school dropouts, and in the case of the boys whereby the boy child confiscate any of the school items and refuse to pay or accept the fact that he is guilty and by so doing he also joines the troop, in this case is it the government to be blamed?
Moving father there are some culture in Nigeria that deprive a girl child of going to school, in some families out there's this law which says one person at a time in education, that is unless the first child finishes his or her education no other child is allowed to go to school, so now calculating all the classes starting from nursery down to the secondary level, the other child/ children will have to wait literary for fourteen years without the test of education, what will worsen the case is if the first child pursueses any law or medicine courses that will last nothing less than five to seven years to finish studying the course.
So tell me how would a child who hasn't test or see what former education is all about for eighteen years cope in a society he or she belongs to, while some may allow their child study only from nursery to primary classes if per chance finish secondary school and let the first child conclude his education.
Bringing back this matter to the hands of the government, among all the public schools in Nigeria we can't boost of thirty out of them that are heavily equipped with teaching materials such as Desks, Chairs, exercise books, black board's, white boards and so many of them, we either see broken ceilings, chairs, Broken walls that are easy way for evil doers to pratice their acts, lack of qualified teachers, unconducive environment and so much more.
Wasn't it early last two years that the staffs of Academic staff union of universities went on a strike that nearly took a year for them to fully continue their job due to lack of payment of salary.
My final questions goes this way "Is the Nigeria Educational sector improving or are we downgrading?"
Note÷ It does not matter the type of school you attended or will attend all that matters is your determination for sucess.
