Preface
Darkness had been rising from the west, beyond the rocky and desolate landscape of Vormir. That darkness had a name and he had come to destroy the children of Valo, fore they were the followers of the light. Upon such a terrifying discovery; an unlikely bunch of travelers, warriors, and misfits had been bound together by a common quest.
Rina was a half elf, half human from the small fishing village of Skalpta bay. Her best friend, Aelric was a merchant and traveler. He accompanied her when she journeyed from Skalpta to find her origins. Along the way, they met a fae nymph named Kasia. It was her want to find her own kind that set her on the path behind them.
A human tracker was sent to locate Rina by her mysterious father. Introduced originally as "Nomad", he turned out to be the bastard son of the human nobility in Coentia. Finnan joined the group on a simple job, staying after he learned of Forfall's rise.
Finnan and Rina were both captured by a dwarven hunting party. This is how the party met its next member. Thrane was the son of the great dwarven king of Rafton, Thrakk. His mind looked to the future, while his father's looked to the past. He left to investigate the lands beyond Vormir, turning against the will of his ruler.
Many weeks of adventures separated them from the knowledge they needed. Ultimately, after seeing the destruction of Valo and the strategy of the mörk, they needed to carry this information to the kingdoms across Verden. The paths of the party members had then been decided, and most were separate.
Rina and Finan were heading west, to the warring lands of men to meet with their estranged fathers. Aelric and Kasia were making their way to Skjald by way of Balimar. They would be telling all elves willing to listen that Forfall had awakened as they set out on their mission to bring the fae together.
It would be difficult to convince the fae to fight in a war that once got half of them killed. Thrane was going back to Kalrid in Rafton to inform his father of the coming danger and prepare his people for war. He only had to hope that Thrakk's stubborn method of thinking could be swayed.
Humans, elves, fae, dwarves, and giants... All were enemies, but all were brothers under the light. It would take the combined efforts of all of Valo’s children to destroy Forfall, the only son of the darkness known as Tumma. If any of our misfit party were to fail in their missions, it was the life and light of all of Verden would be destroyed.
