The unexpected retreat
The sun was setting behind the Seoul skyline, casting a golden hue over Taehyung’s penthouse. The view was magnificent, but it did little to ease his growing sense of emptiness. The constant barrage of meetings, deadlines, and the relentless hustle of city life had taken its toll on him. His best friend, Jimin, had noticed his exhaustion and suggested a retreat in Hanok, a village far removed from the city’s chaos.
Reluctantly, Taehyung packed his bags and made his way to Hanok. The drive was long, and as the cityscape gave way to rolling hills and dense forests, Taehyung felt a mix of anxiety and curiosity. He arrived at Hanok just as dusk settled, the sky painted in hues of pink and orange. The village was a picturesque tableau of rustic charm, with thatched roofs, cobblestone paths, and lush green fields stretching as far as the eye could see.
Taehyung found his cottage exactly as Jimin described – quaint and charming, with ivy creeping up its stone walls and a garden filled with colorful blooms. The inside was cozy, filled with rustic furniture, warm wooden floors, and the faint smell of lavender. There was a fireplace in the corner, a well-worn armchair by the window, and a small kitchen that looked invitingly functional.
Despite the charm of his new surroundings, Taehyung felt out of place. The silence of the countryside was almost deafening compared to the constant noise of Seoul. It was unsettling, yet strangely comforting. After unpacking, Taehyung stepped outside, breathing in the fresh air. The night was quiet, the only sounds being the distant chirping of crickets and the rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze.
Determined to make the most of this break, Taehyung decided to explore the village the next day. As he lay in bed that night, staring at the wooden beams of the ceiling, he wondered what the next few weeks would bring. He hoped that this retreat would help him reclaim his lost peace, but a part of him remained skeptical.
With that thought, Taehyung drifted into a restless sleep, the moon casting a silver light over the tranquil village of Hanok.
