Prologue

Faith was now 16 years old. Three months ago Mason had married Sam (Samantha), they had only been dating for 6 months prior. At first, Faith was really happy, she was happy because her dad was happy. Her Uncle Matty and Uncle Milly (yes the name stuck) had moved out and started families of their own. Faith wanted someone to make her dad happy and to become part of the family. She was often lonely in the house by herself when her dad was at work. Sam was lovely to Faith until she was legally married to her father. Then things changed for the worse but no one saw it but Faith. Sam at first, would ignore Faith until Mason got home from work, then she would tell Mason how horrible Faith was being to her. Then the verbal abuse started and the threats to get rid of her.

One day she got home from school to find that Sam had completely moved Faith to a different floor. Her room had always been next to her dad's room but now she was on Uncle Matty's old floor. When she told her dad, Sam had turned around and made it out to be all Faith's fault. Her dad had sided with Sam. Sam had carried on saying she was trying to be nice and had offered to help Faith move as that was what Faith wanted but in reality, Faith liked being close to her dad. Mason scolded Faith without even listening to her, Faith didn't bother moving back to that floor instead she spent the night crying on the phone to her friend.

Faith had been spending more time away from home. When she did come home, Sam would threaten her, tell her she was worthless and that she would get rid of her no matter what. She tried to tell her uncles, but they just brushed it off, after all, Mason had told them how she had been acting out. Faith spent a lot of time with her best friend Beth and her mum who she met when she started preschool. She wanted what Beth had with her mum. She just wanted to be loved and fit in somewhere. She hadn't really felt that since she was on the farm. They had kept the land after her Nanny had passed and built a house. They spent school holidays there and Faith was still close to Joe who had married a woman named Lynne. Joe and Lynne rented the land for the cattle they had on their property. They maintained the land when the Fishers weren't there.

Faith would jump from Beth's place to a few other friends and her boyfriend's place, Jessie. She would only go home maybe two or three nights a week but no one seemed to care. Her dad had taken everything from her for her 'bad behaviour' towards his new wife. She was no longer allowed to go to dancing which was her escape from her life, until she learnt to get on with Sam. Faith's only outlet was to cut and she found she did it more when she was at home. That's why she spent less and less time there, not that her dad noticed.

Mason was madly in love with Sam, she was one woman who didn't love him for his money. He had many flings through the years but most women didn't want a single dad or wanted him for his money. Sam had been so different. He was so wrapped up in his happy ending that he didn't see the signs that Faith was crying out for help. He never believed what she had said about Sam because he knew Sam wasn't like that. He spent a lot of time venting to his brothers about how disappointed he was in Faith's behaviour. He forbade her from attending dancing until she started to behave herself. He knew that the marriage would have an impact on Faith but this was ridiculous. Accusing his wife of threatening her had gone too far. At first, he tried to be sympathetic, but now he was going to be stern with her.

Sam had just announced she was pregnant with her and Mason's first child so it was time for Faith to stop the crap. Mason had organised an intervention. His brothers were going to be involved too. Faith was going to be made to attend counselling to work through her issues. She would be expected to be home straight after school as well. Mason was done with his daughter's behaviour spending days in her room. She wouldn't even eat with him and Sam. He didn't know that she was never home because Sam had told him she was in her room and didn't want to be bothered. He was prepared for the tantrums she would throw. He was prepared for the lies that would be told and the anger. He would make her apologise to Sam and start to behave properly or he was going to send her to boarding school. He didn't want to bring a new baby into a house with so much tension. Faith was going to learn that she could no longer get away with this and that she would learn to respect Sam as his wife.

Sam had managed to convince Mason that Faith was cruel to her. She spent many nights crying to Mason about things that had not happened. She wanted to get rid of Faith so she could have all of the Fisher fortune. She tormented the girl daily and then blamed Faith for everything. Mason was so in love with her that he always took her side. She wanted the kid out and then she would have children who would take over everything. She had it all planned and it was working. She knew Faith was hardly ever in the house and she wanted her to be here even less. Sam played the victim well and she had one last trick up her sleeve to be completely rid of Faith for good. After this Mason would surely send her away and then they could start working on their own family.
