Chapter One

“Good morning, Elle.”

Elle, a student at the Elite Ivy private school in her tiny London town, greeted one of her favourite professors with a shy wave.

Her unique trait of not speaking made her greetings a silent but warm gesture, a way for her to express her fondness without words.

She was sitting near the large tree in the courtyard, reading over her notes for her classes and upcoming tests.

Every word she absorbed was a step towards proving her worth to her family, who highly expected more from her.

She packed her things into her messenger bag, slung it over her shoulder, and headed inside towards her classes, thinking of tonight.

She was emotionally exhausted after her school day was over since her older sister of two years started bullying her along with the whole student body for the fact of her being selectively mute.

When she saw the car leave with her sister inside, she knew she had to call the cab company to get home.

After she had texted the company to have a cab come and pick her up, she waited by the now-closed gates, shivering and scared, seeing the sky darkening.

She saw the cab pull up and hopped inside, stuttering as she gave her address to the cab driver, whom she had paid beforehand, knowing how long it would take her to arrive home.

The cab driver dropped her off, watching the young girl shivering and left when he knew she was inside her home that no one knew was her nightmare.

“Where the hell were you? I cannot believe you are bloody late!” A deep booming voice angrily spat out towards the shaking, shivering and whimpering girl.

Elle stared her father in the eyes, seeing the hatred there. She was terrified of what extent he would go to since he had not arrived home on time.

“Sir, Maxwell wants to know what is taking so long?” butler Jones calmly said, trying to keep his eyes from staring at the poor mistress.

“Let him know his merchandise has arrived home,” The master of the home exclaimed, grabbing Elle by her hair and dragging her towards the main sitting area where another man had been waiting.

He threw her towards the ground towards the feet of the man who bought her, and now she was his problem to deal with as he saw fit.

Maxwell leaned over her knees, looking the young girl up and down, watching her slender form shake with exertion. He felt sorry for the young girl.

“Master Coleman, are you sure this is the right daughter?” Maxwell darkly asked with a sinister grin.

Elle pushed herself up to a sitting position, feeling her heart race with fear and the feeling of abandonment from her father.

Through her towards this unknown man, she can tell he was not to be messed with by his dark aura.

“Yes, this is the Ellena. She has been a nuisance to our family since she was born.”

Ellena hung her head, hiding her sorrow-filled eyes, feeling tears threatening to fall.

She felt someone kneeling before her, lifting her head to come eye to eye with the unknown male who gave her a smirk, keeping his emotions at bay, not wanting to show his cards just yet.

“I see, and you are selling her for 2,000 pounds, right?”

Elle shivered in fear, not taking her eyes off the man, who stared at her with mixed emotions, seeing how he could see the fear in her bright grey eyes.

“Yes, that is right. If you don’t buy her, I will sell her at the next auction next weekend,” Elle’s father says, laughing at his thoughts.

Maxwell felt his anger rise in his blood, hearing how this man would dare sell this pretty little thing to the sex auctions that no male or female can get out of unless they take their own life.

“No, I will buy her and take her out of your hair,” Maxwell darkly says. He silently orders the young girl he knows, Ellena, to stand up along with him.

He silently cursed at seeing her little body tremble when he told her to do what he asked.

He wished he could do something to help her feel safe and know she did not need to fear him, seeing as how he worked for the most dangerous mafia in the United Kingdom.

He grabbed her upper arm firmly, keeping up the show he was going to discipline the young girl with her father watching them closely.

“Don’t worry, dear. I am not here to harm you, and I want you to understand that I will never allow any of mine or my boss’s men to lay a hand on you,” Maxwell whispered in her ear.

Ellena nodded, now understanding he bought her for some reason, and now he has saved her from the hard truth of her family wanting her to live a life of abuse and hatred.

Maxwell pushed her into the back of his car, telling his driver to head back towards his penthouse before they left for Scotland, where she would start her new life.

“Once we are back, lass, I will need to introduce ye to my boss and find out what he wants to do with ye,” Maxwell softly told her.

Ellena nodded, looking at her folded hands on her lap, wondering why she was sold and thrown away when she had been doing everything she could to prove herself to her parents and earn their parental love.

Maxwell sighed, running his hand through his messy brown hair, trying to understand the extent of abuse this young eighteen-year-old has gone through to have her become fearful of the unknown.

“Ellena, I will do everything I can to help ye, and all I ask of ye is to try and open up to my boss and me.”

Ellena locked eyes with the kind man with the dark aura around him, and she could tell he was good in his heart, even though he had done enough evil in the world for his profession.

“O-Okay, I will try,” Ellena softly says, showing her cute stutter.

Maxwell grinned, hearing her sweet little voice. He knew immediately that one of his boss’s sons would take a liking to the little woman.

“So, ye do talk, and I am guessing you have a selective mutism?” Maxwell gently asked, watching her long, ringlet brown hair move with her movement of nodding.

He chuckled, feeling amused that he heard her soft voice and that her parents were the most worthless, degrading idiots he had ever met in his life.

Maxwell worked from his home office in his penthouse in London for the next few hours, with Ellena resting in the next room.

He knew he would have to inform his boss about the young, innocent girl who had been through a lot in her short eighteen years.

He picked up his phone and called his boss, waiting for his deep Scottish voice to answer.

‘Max, do ye have the merchandise?’

‘Aye, I do. Boss, you need to understand the young girl; she is not like what her parents claimed her to be. She is an innocent young girl who has been abandoned and thrown away to the wolves.’

‘Oh? Then I would want to meet with this young girl before I decided what I need to do with her,’

Maxwell sighed and ended the call with his boss, who had told him what needed to happen when he arrived with Ellena.

Ellena woke up a few hours later, seeing how they had to get up early in the morning. Now they have arrived, especially in a small town outside of Edinburgh, the central city of Scotland.

“When we arrive, I need ye to greet the boss with respect, and please keep your eyes below his nose,” Maxwell gently and sternly told her.

She nodded, knowing how important it was to show respect to someone above her and who held her life in his hands.
