What is your opinion?

"I just finished reading the story. And in our neighborhood less than 500 km- there is a horrible war in the middle of Europe. Innocent people dying daily. Cui prodest? Allways the same questions allways the same dirty games for centuries. Divide et Impera! That is all about."

A compelling account of war

"I have read many of John Sutherland’s stories/books and loved them all. This story is quite different to all others I’ve read, it’s sad, horrifying but has a happy ending. The horrors of war are described in realistic detail; I presume the author has had personal experience of war or is an excellent researcher. His writing style is experienced and means the reader isn’t distracted by poor grammar and sentence structure. The plot is compelling; suspenseful, sad and ultimately uplifting. Thank John Sutherland. "

There Is No Tomorrow: Of Unexpected Love

"This book has, unexpectedly, become my favorite of your work. It was real, gritty, heart wrenching & abhorrent. Yet, from all the misery, love, hope & trust grew/thrived. This would make a epic movie. Well done, sir. 😃"

There is no tomorrow: Of unexpected love

"Once again I was taken on a journey while reading this book. I forgot time and place as the words slowly but surely swallowed me to become one with the story. Author manages to use his writing skills in a way that made me feel, see, hear, smell and taste everything that was happening as if I was actually there. It`s not often I stumble across authors that manages to have me floored in this way. The whole story builds up to a crescendo that had my heart racing and I had sweaty palms. And as for the plot? Let`s just say... Expect the unexpected. Brilliant! This book addresses an important topic. It`s about our heroines and heroes that "works" in the shadows and all the suffering they went through. It`s a hard read, but it was - and still is, sadly - a reality. It is still going on today. Let`s never forget it. I would definitely recommend this book. Author has done an incredible good job with this and it shows. I will read this book again for sure and if I could, I would buy it. Well done, John!"

Speechless

"This story left me speechless, in a good way, bad way, sad way. The brutality the hearbreak, the redemption.... The rising up in the face of adversity to be better than you were treated, man oh man. If you read this you will thank me, but more importantly you will than the author for writing it...."

There is no tomorrow

"War is never OK. To survive it is a miracle, to forget it, impossible. A story of tremendous violence and hate, survival and love. Outstanding in it's content, and yet a true story that needed to be told. The sacrifices that were made, to keep our countries safe were gargantuan. A very honorable book, giving us just a taste of reality. Well done John, a magnificent read."

Unexpected Love

"You were right when you said that this is a delicate story. I don't know how many times my heart broke for the characters in this story but I was happy for Rebecca on finding Hiro. As always, you wrote superbly. It's a war story, so violent content is expected. I also appreciate it that it's not exaggerated as other writers do. I really can't decide now which of your works I love most."

There is no tomorrow

"I do love historical fiction and especially WWII era. This is by far the best work by this author that I have read, if not THE BEST book that I have read throughout this app thusfar. Absolutely brilliant!! Delightfully surprising twist at the end as well. Action packed, emotional rollercoaster ride with the occasional zing of underlying truths. This should definitely be published and out there! I wish I could share it with my book club!!!"

"In times of horrific war you can see the worst of humanity and the very best. I like to think this book shows more of the very best. A totally emotional read. But don't be put off by that. Difficult to read at times but absolutely worth it. "

A Telling Tale...

"Wow! At times, I wanted to stop reading as the details were almost too real. Yet, the author does a great job with telling it like it is, I like how, rather than glorify war, the story unfolds to show the reader how horrific battlefields and such "honor" of "obeying" such military dictatorship is. rather than the usual trite, elementary and cliched words of "bravery" we see a mockery of the so-called "sacrifice" soldiers make to nothing but an elitist ruling profiteering from the global military industrial complex. I'd like to see a little less demonizing of the Japanese though, as all empires (including the American Empire today) are equally as brutal as the next. I felt, as the reader, equally as horrified for those being executed, the soldiers and Rebecca's repeated rapes, one atrocity as horrifying as the other as in the end, they are all victims of military madness. Great ending!"
