Chapter 1

Kaylee’s POV

Click Clack Click Clack Click Clack.

Quickly and loudly my white converse smacked against the concrete of the dark alley, laces flying behind me. My slick brown ponytail swung violently behind me as I ran, sweat dripping down my temple. The alley was illuminated by a singular rusted lantern at each corner, glowing dimly in the eerie darkness.

Click Clack. Splash.

The damp, filthy shoelaces caused me to trip and I fell into a small puddle, created by a leaky metal pipe that lingered overhead.

I lifted myself up, paying no attention to my wet and dirty pajama pants that were previously warm and fluffy just an hour earlier.

Click. Clack.

Slowly and cautiously I took two steps forward, looking behind the corner. I didn't see the dark figure following me anymore, but I continued to scan the area around me tentatively. The old brick buildings were tall and seemed to hold secrets in every crevice. Everything surrounding me appeared to be dark, from the rusting, dripping metal pipes, to the skinny gray cat who dug through the tall garbage bin, only taking a moment to look at me with its vibrant yellow eyes and hiss before getting back to work.

I felt warm air on the back of my neck that sent a cold shiver down my spine as I warily turned around.

"Boo." he breathed out, the horrid scent of his breath enveloping my senses.

I tried to scream, but it was too late.

The last thing I remember was the putrid scent of his breath before a sack was placed over my head and all was darkness.
