Summary and Characters
Different is far from Lakeview’s vocabulary. The canon story of the Lakeview Series follows six teenagers through their sophomore year of high school. And like every high school story, drama is infused.
It’s Johnny Blackwell’s dream to get Cecily Smith, the girl everyone dreams about. Hopefully he’ll get the chance to ask her out. However, she’s interested in other things. A change is needed. Through an unlikely alliance with the school’s bad boy, Johnny will find a way to get her. New people, parties, popularity, getting rid of old “problems,” a full change--this is what comes with getting her. Will this be a choice that involves a happy ending? Or will he finally come to terms with his true self?
Kai Peterson is an outgoing, bold person who is in love with his best friend, Johnny Blackwell. Cliché, he knows. But he’s been in love with Johnny forever, and this is the year he tells him. He’s got two problems though: Johnny’s crush on Cecily and a boyfriend he doesn’t actually love. Kai is one messy person, and he needs to get on reality’s side. He’s determined to ask Johnny out, but he faces challenges that Johnny puts up with. Being his best friend is one thing, but Johnny’s “new self” is a whole other thing he might not put up with. Will he be able to tell the truth to Johnny? Or will Johnny’s change mess things up for them?
Cecily Smith is everyone’s dream girl: kind, smart, and sweet. However, there’s a secret she’s been hiding from. She had a summer fling with the boy everyone wanted: Darrell Robertson. She knows there’s nothing between them, but she has hopes of it being something. Darrell believes otherwise. It’s only a matter of time until his ex finds out. Cecily will become something she always wanted but not in the way she planned. She’s losing herself. She’s not the best girl everyone thinks she is. She’s falling in love with the bad boy, Jason, and Johnny . Will she make an uprise or downfall with her new self? And what will it take to finally be who she wants to be?
Anya Harrison is the token rich, cheerleader, mean girl. She is stuck between her own problems, them being Darrell and Jason. After breaking up with Darrell, she wants revenge. She finds out about his fling and plans to destroy what she can. Jason, an old best friend and crush, is part of this plan. She knows how to play with people like him and get what she wants. This time, though, it might not work out in her favor. Will she face her consequences and become the person she is meant to be? Or will everything crumble beneath her?
Darrell Robertson is your rich, popular football star. Thing is, he’s misunderstood. He’s shown as a typical jock but has a soft heart. The summer was difficult: getting dumped by his girlfriend was no victory. After a small fling with Cecily, he’s realized a lot of things about himself. He wants to get back with Anya but knows that once she finds out about his fling, she’ll ruin Cecily. And it doesn’t help that Jason is around and on Anya’s side about things. He wants him gone and his girlfriend back. The best thing to do? Destroy everything in sight, including Jason Glenn. Will he win this time?
Jason Glenn is the bad boy everyone wants to be with. After losing his dad, he has never seen a good day. A drug dealer, a criminal, a bully--he lives up to the standards of bad boys and everyone loves him for it. He ends up becoming Johnny’s friend after a fight, wanting to help him get with Cecily, his own longtime crush. He wants the best for someone like her but ends up falling in love with her more. His issues with the past come back up. Another old crush and flame, Anya, pulls him into her own plans with Darrell. Though he wants nothing to do with them, Jason still does it for her. Will these plans help or hurt him? How much can it take until he snaps?
