Haunting

"BLUF: A haunting tale both sweet and sad. DOWN: I found the author’s descriptive writing style a little rough and rushed, and the ending left me with a lot of questions (both good and bad). There could’ve been more happening in certain spots between such very different characters in such a precarious situation. I’d recommend smoothing out a few spots (show more vivid, more detailed progression of events). MIXED: The surprise ending broke my heart yet left me wondering. I get where it went, but details like the timeframe and where the lean-to came from had me scratching my head a bit. UP: The exchange between the characters charmed me enough to make me like the story, which added punch to that surprise ending. OVERALL: The twist may very well invalidate my DOWN points, but I still would’ve enjoyed a more natural flow of events rather than cutting to the quick, so to speak. Nonetheless, a good short (or novella; frankly, I don’t know the word count here). Good job, Marley Quinn!"
