Chapter 1
Hey for any readers that have added this book first please be aware this is book 2, there is a book one, so please feel free to read that one first to be able to follow on with the story! Courtney is still crying, her tears streaming, pain goes through her body, as Logan lets him self in with the spare key, running to her side "Court come here" he wraps his arms around her as she screams more in to his chest, he pulls back "go to the hospital, Lucy is coming to pick you up ok" she nods through tears, he just hugs her until the horn goes outside
Courtney leaps up running out and jumping in to the car heading for the hospital, Logan stays with the kids, Billie comes down the stairs "uncle Logan, why was mum screaming"
Logan turns to see her standing in the doorway "she's ok, lets get you back to bed ok, she will be home soon" Billie looks confused as she turns back and heads back to bed, Logan follows to make sure all the kids are settled and ok.
Arriving at the hospital Courtney hardly waits for the car to come to a full stop before leaping out and running through the hospital until she gets to where she needs to be.
As she gets there, all the boys stand outside with their heads down, tears streaming as the doctor approaches "Mrs Thomas?" all the boys turn to her direction
Courtney nods seeing that look in his eyes, she's already screaming and shaking "NOOOOOOO! NO NO NO NO NO" her pain they could feel, they stood there finding it unbearable to listen to her screams of the pain and the agony that she was feeling in that moment
The doctor continues "I'm so sorry, But your husband didn't make it, the injury was to severe"
Courtney collapses in the spot in to a bundle on the floor struggling to breath clenching her stomach, Daniel rushes to her side holding her, wrapping his arms around her, she hits and punches trying to get him off her "HE CAN'T BE! he...can't! NOO...NOO...no...he promised me forever..." she chokes on the tears and the anguish in her screams she felt like her heart had been ripped from her chest.
Daniel is crying too as are the others, he is holding on to her tighter until she just crumbles in his arms "shhhh" he holds her there, sobbing with her, he hated seeing her in this much pain, he helps her to her feet "I want to see him, now!" the doctor leads her into a room, where her husbands body lay peacefully like he was sleeping, his pale, she sits next to him, laying her head on his chest sobbing uncontrollably, she screams in to his chest, she sits back "I love you" the stab wound is covered "who did this to you" she brushes his hair out of his face, and without thinking, she gets up, fills a bowl of water up and grabs cloths and starts to clean him.
Once she finishes, she sits and looks at him "I...can't...do...this without...you" she starts to sob again, Daniel comes in puffy eyed, he comes in and holds his sister, she looks up at him "how am I going to tell the kids, 6 beautiful, wonderful, smart kids his left behind, now I have to tell them...daddy isn't coming home"
Daniel grips her tighter as her tears start again "we will tell them together ok Court, we have got you, and we always will".
After a little while they are in a cab heading back home, Courtney walks straight in and just sits on the sofa, tears falling, Daniel comes in and sits down, Logan brings them all a cup of tea in, Courtney turns to Logan "thank you Logan for having the kids, you can go if you want"
Logan shakes his head "I'm not going anywhere you won't be doing this alone, if you let me I'll stay here with you, to help out with the kids and stuff"
Courtney just nods, Courtney looks at Daniel "what the hell happened to my husband?"
Daniel looks down "we was all outside waiting for cab, some guy came up to him, it was so casual he just brushed past him, it wasn't until Carter had clutched his stomach and we saw the blood we even knew anything had happened"
Courtney's tears fall freely "did he...did he...say anything"
Daniel bites his lip, as he starts to cry, and nods "that if he didn't make it, to tell you and the kids, he loved you so much and to thank you for giving him the best life and family he could ever ask for, that you were everything to him, that he was sorry, that he would always will always be with you" by this time, Courtney is sobbing again.
The next morning, Courtney is just sat on the sofa as all the kids come down running around, she calls the older kids to her Billie, Elizabeth and Bailey walk over and sit next to her, Bailey speaks first "mum, why are you crying where's dad?"
she has a small flashback to where her dad, was telling her, her mum was dead, she pulls Bailey on to her lap and holding both girls either side of her, as the tears start again "Your dad, won't be coming home sweetheart" she looks at her kids faces as they are confused, Courtney continues "I need you to be so brave for me and for your brothers and sister ok" they nod "your dad, has gone to heaven with grandad now, you remember that special place that your grandad went to"
the 3 kids start to cry "but why mum"
fresh new tears fall from Courtney's eyes, her kids cuddle in to her "your dad was hurt last night, and the doctors did everything they could to help him, but they couldn't and he didn't get better again" the kids sob in to their mums arms as she cradles all three of them, she kisses each of them on the head "listen to me ok, I need you to be so brave, ok, so why don't you go upstairs, and how about you write a letter to dad ok, about how much we love him and about how much we are going to miss him"
Billie looks at her mum "can we do what we did for grandad?"
Courtney bites her lip nodding "of course sweetheart, go write your letters and draw your pictures then on Saturday we can do that all together ok" the kids nod still crying and Logan goes up stairs to make sure they are ok, next she calls over the younger kids, Will, Sadie and George they go over to her, and she explains to them the best way she can with Daniel's help. Will cry's as he understands what their mum has just said, the young ones don't quite grasp the situation.
