Chapter 1
Briella is 27 who lived the city life currently, she was 5'6, long brown hair past her shoulder, curvy, green eyes.
Briella didn't always live in the city though, Briella's mum died not long after giving birth to her due to complications, her dad she never knew, her aunt Janice and uncle Stuart took her in and doted on her like she was their own, they owned their own farm and that was what she was brought up on and she loved the country life it fit her to a T, she would always be a country girl at heart, but when she was 15 her uncle died of a heart attack, which broke her heart completely until it was just her and her aunt, eventually when she was 20 she moved to the city after getting a job at a zoo, it was all her aunts idea she slowly grew to the idea and she enjoyed it eventually but she did miss home, being a farm girl, she always loved being around animals it was in her nature, she popped back now and again to see her aunt but not as much as she probably should have, which she would always regret...
But the last month had completely turned her world upside down, her Aunt Janice died at the beginning of the month, she had a meeting with the family solicitor early on in the week, the farm that she loved and grew up on was now hers.
Briella was sat on the train heading home for the first time since Janice's funeral, she was numb everything she ever knew was gone, the family she loved so dearly, she gave up the job at the zoo that she loved to run the farm that she adored, but it was going to be empty without her aunt around, although the solicitor had told her that there were farm hands working to keep things running over and they left the longest running one Thorn in charge until she arrived. She had only heard a little about him from her aunt he had started when she was 22 and in the city, she weirdly enough hadn't met him yet, all she knew was his name was Thorn he was 30, he had worked for their family for the past 5 years, yet whenever Briella was down, he was always away with his own family and whatever else. He knew nothing of her either, he usually kept himself to himself, they had the odd conversation with her aunt about her but she never mentioned her not by name.
As the train pulls in to the station she grabs her bags and steps off the train. She gets a cab and asks to be taken to her local where her aunts best friend Pat and her husband Rodger owned. After a 15 minute drive they pull up outside and she grabs her bags and heads inside Pat is the first to see her "BRIELLA!"
Briella gives her a smile "hey guys!"
Rodger and Pat rush over and pull her in to a hug "how are you doing sweetheart!"
Briella pulls back and looks up at them "I am ok.. I guess everything is happening so quickly...I..."
Rodger takes her bags and puts them behind the bar while Pat puts an arm around her and pulls her over to a booth as they sit and talk and have a couple of drinks "are you going to be ok with the farm sweetheart..."
Briella smiles "it will be good to be home..."
"Take it one day at a time darling...besides I know Thorn is there to help!"
Briella smiles "there's that famous Thorn I have been hearing so much about!"
Pat giggles "you haven't met him yet have you"
"Not yet, I mean Janice told me a lot about him, how hardworking he is and whatever..."
"His a good guy deep down!"
Briella smiles, they sit and talk for a while longer, before they say their goodbyes and Briella grabs her bags and heads for the farm.
Once she is there and puts her stuff in doors, a knock at the door comes, she heads to answer it, she is surprised to see a really good looking guy standing there, 6'2, shoulder length black hair, blue eyes, muscles to die for, he was completely gorgeous, she looks him up and down, not sure what to make of him at all, he looks her up and down with the same thought, but she was so beautiful, he didn't expect to be so dazzled by someone that quick, he had never felt such a pull from someone before but he also had to remember in his head she is the enemy here, a cold glare falls over his face, and he looks down at her dead in the eye "and you are..."
Briella raises an eyebrow and looks him right back "Briella..."
He slowly nods "the new boss...hmmm..."
"right..."
"so big city girl who buys a farm out of no where...strange"
"excuse me..." who the hell did this man think he is, he clearly had no clue who she was and she wasn't about to tell him either, and she would make sure of it, she didn't know who this nut case was
He chuckles "never mind! well you going to stand there all day or you actually going to be doing any work" Briella slams the door in his face and heads off to get ready after 20 minutes she heads down stairs, and to the stables first and begins cleaning out the stables, as she is brushing the horses, she hears the door go behind her and she rolls her eyes and doesn't even look up "I have already done that..."
She doesn't miss a beat and says "well clearly it wasn't a very good job!" as she finishes she walks out passed him, and heads off to do whatever else needed doing.
As the evening comes she heads in doors and lets out a breath, she looks at all the Knick knacks around the house that her aunt had out on show always and proudly, she can't help but smile as each brings there own little memory, she heads in to the kitchen and makes a cup of tea and sits up at the table, her heart ached so bad, she missed them so much, they always knew how to make her feel better. She is brought out of them when a knock at the door comes again, she huffs and stands and opens it, Thorn stood there like earlier that day "Listen, I just have to say the way I spoke to you earlier was uncalled for...but, you clearly have no idea what you are doing! If anyone should own this farm it's me!"
Briella is stunned in to silence, she lets out a shocked laugh "goodnight!" she shuts the door, bolting it and heads off to soak in the bath, she lay there thinking about this complete pig! he was absolutely beautiful...cocky...arrogant...self absorbed! then why did she kind of like him, she had only been there a day and he was already driving her mad, she had a good mind to sack him, but she needed someone as experienced as she was, not that he thought so, as she is still training the new hands that had just joined. She eventually gets out and climbs in bed preparing for what crap he was going to throw at her tomorrow.
