Chapter 1
“What’s that?” she asked raising her head. “Who’s there? When I walked in both stalls were empty and the door was.”
She pushed her dress down. Removing both shoes, she climbed up on the toilet seat.
“Why didn’t I?” she whispered scolding herself.
The door rattled and popped open. A man entered holding a taunt wire.
Dax drew back her shoe, the stiletto heel pointing outward.
“Heard of Achilles heel?” she snarled. “Try this!”
With all her strength, she slammed the shoe into the craggy man’s face, the tiny tip of the heel bore into his temple. He opened his mouth, his face twisted in agony as he tightened the wire in his big hands.
“Missed the point?” she spat. With full force, she pounded the heel of the first shoe forcing the spike deeper into his head. He staggered backward dropping the wire to the floor.
Dax moved behind him. She kicked hard to his back. He slammed against the door and slid to the floor. Sighing she opened her purse and took out a pair of cream color flats, slipped them on her feet.
“False alarm,” she commented and walked out the door whistling. She made her way through the crowded restaurant, returned to the table, and sat down.
“Cheers,” the man with a mustache said clicking her wine glass.
“John remember you told me they are ready to strike. Well, I just encountered one in the bathroom.”
He bent close to her.
“What about the body, Dax?”
“Would you have me flush him down the toilet?” she huffed below her breath.
“No, they will take care of it.”
“I wish Otto was here.”
“I know, but he is on assignment right now. Does your friend suspect what’s going on?” he inquired in a soft tone.
“No,” she answered a matter a fact.
“Better go.”
