Summary

The year is currently 2070. A lot has happened for the world to get there. For example, World War III, loss and death, oh and time travel becoming a thing. Melody, a time travel student in college, finds herself stuck in a dilemma caught up between saving a baseball player, a rock musician, and her own yearning for fame. A dilemma of cliches, one may call it. And this is hers. *Some chapters may contain mature concepts and/or triggers. Will put a warning before a chapter if includes one.

Prologue

"The past is history; the future is a mystery. But now, now is a gift. That's why we call it the present." Quote taken from Eleanor Roosevelt.

The past is the past; it can't be changed. That's why people say to worry about the thing you can control, the present. Don't dwell on the past, right? Well, sure, that might've been useful back when time travel was just a theory in the makings.

Oh no, don't tell me that you skipped history class... what year is your mental state in? 2024? 2014 maybe? Well, since I'm so "kind," I'll catch you up.

In the year 2027, a war broke out, called World War III. Kinda ironic, right? The First World War was considered 'the war to end all wars'... then we had two more World Wars.

This war was because something called AI, standing for Artificial Intelligence, got out of control. The AIs got so smart that they could literally have a mind of their own. AI started establishing itself on every single device that humans owned at the time. It caused many viruses on the devices, and people didn't know what the hell was going on.

It turns out that almost half of the countries in the world were in charge of these AIs. These people must've been hella technology-savvy. They wanted to take over the world with AI by first putting viruses on every computer, which would distract the users and unknowingly get them hacked. Sounds like a nice time.

Well, news spread quickly, and this soon resulted in the war because we love to make war of everything. In the midst of this war, the people of the anti-AI side came together with scientists of the same side to try to create a new weapon because their chances were looking pretty low.

After four years, they created this new weapon, which ruined AI... so that meant even the good things that came out of it. For example, finding cures for things that don't have one. But this ended the war. So, in 2031, the war was over.

But from documents I've read, they always say that the atmosphere seemed different. The air seemed denser than usual after the attack. Seems so fake while reading it.

Well surprise! Apparently, in order for the science of time travel to work, you need this denser air. Scientists found this out by accidentally creating it years later... I wonder how they first reacted. It's theorized that it was just that simple; that's what all the documents say and people in the scientific world say, but I don't know. I find it fake, but it doesn't really matter.

So, by 2035, time travel is now a thing, and many people want to either try it out or were freaked out. I wonder what side I would be on.

People started traveling, and the world went back into chaos. The past was changed because of it, and it caused lots of problems in the present time. Many more people were suffering more than they were before they left. This went on for three years.

Then the government shut it down in 2038. Scientists messed with it more and then got it under control. I don't even know how they experimented with it without causing more chaos, but the documents claim they did. But then again, if the people who wrote the historical documents are the same people who were there, they're going to be biased.

In 2040, time travel was allowed again, but only certain people could use it. People such as doctors, scientists, and historians. Historians could go to the past but could not talk to anyone in said time. Doctors could only go to the future for possible medicine opportunities, and scientists could do whatever they wanted. Lucky bastards.

By 2046, there was a college major in time travel. They were planning on making it, so you have to go there to be able to time travel in general.

And then, in 2047, my parents had me. Now everything is much more under control in 2070. I always wanted to time travel... so I'm in the college class in hopes of doing it one day.

Now that you know about all the history and the boring parts, let's get on with the real plot of this story.
