Summary

Ravenwood Manor stood solemn and imposing at the edge of the dense, ancient forest. Its Gothic architecture, with towering spires and dark, ivy-clad walls, whispered secrets of a time long past. Advertised as a quaint vacation retreat, the manor attracted a group of strangers—four girls and five boys, each with their own reasons for escaping their everyday lives. They came together by coincidence, drawn by the allure of a discounted stay and the promise of a unique experience. None of them knew the dark history of Ravenwood, nor the malevolent spirit that lingered within its walls. As they settled into their rooms, a sense of unease began to creep over them. The manor seemed to breathe with a life of its own, shadows dancing along the corridors and whispers echoing in the night. What started as a promising getaway would soon become a fight for survival against an unseen terror that thrived on their deepest fears.

Chapter 1- The invitation

Rain hammered against the windowpanes of Emily's small apartment, a relentless drumming that mirrored the turmoil in her mind. She paced the living room, phone in hand, debating whether to pick clemmie's call or not.

She sighed, tears stinging her eyes as she sat close to the window.

She sure needed something to get her off her thoughts. Recalling the betrayal she went theough with her ex, clemmie.

" I can't believe he still had the guts to..."

She trailed, shutting her eyes violently as she flung her phone on her bed, then ran her hands through her hair.

2hours later

It was still raining, when Emily had just finished ordering pizza, hoping it'd be here any minute, she couldn't fall asleep with a broken heart and an empty stomach.

Her fingers scrolled up and down her phone screen .. Browsing through instagram when suddenly the phone beeped.

-a message from sarah-

Immediately she tapped on the notification .

"a tempting offer for a weekend getaway at Ravenwood Manor?"

Emily did have a penchant for adventure also tempered by a cautious nature, so she tried dismissing it as too good to be true. Yet, as the stresses of work and a recent breakup weighed heavily on her, the allure of escape became irresistible. She needed a break—a chance to breathe freely, away from the suffocating routines that defined her days.

Her fingers hovered over Sarah's number, her closest friend. Sarah was always the one to delve into the unknown, to seek out mysteries with a fervor that both fascinated and intimidated Emily. With a deep breath, she pressed the call button.

"Hey, Sarah," Emily greeted nervously as the call connected. "I saw that advertisement for Ravenwood Manor today. Is it... real?"

Sarah's laugh crackled through the phone, carrying the excitement that always seemed to surround her. "Oh, it's real alright. I booked us a spot already! It's supposed to be this haunted manor on the edge of town. Perfect for a little thrill, don't you think?"

Emily hesitated, her heart racing. Haunted? The word sent a chill down her spine, but beneath her fear lay a curiosity she couldn't ignore. "I don't know, Sarah. It sounds kind of... intense."

"Come on, Em," Sarah urged. "It'll be fun! Mark, John, and the others are coming too. Think of it as a chance to unwind. Besides, we all need a break from our boring lives, don't we?"

She had a point. Emily sighed, torn between caution and the desperate need for change. "Alright, fine. Count me in."

Sarah's cheer was infectious. "Great! Pack your bags, and I'll pick you up tomorrow morning. We're going on an adventure!"

"But wai.."

Emily's sentence was cut through by the beep of the phone when sarah hung up,

She sighed, a mix of excitement and apprehension settled over her. The prospect of exploring an ancient manor with a group of strangers was undeniably thrilling, but the thought of encountering anything supernatural made her stomach churn. She had recently gone through a painful breakup, and the looming shadows of heartache still clung to her. Perhaps this weekend away would be the distraction she desperately needed—a chance to forget and heal.

Her echoing thoughts got distracted by a ping on the doorbell..

....

The next morning, Sarah arrived promptly at Emily's apartment. The two loaded their bags into Sarah's car and set off to pick up the others. As they drove through winding roads towards Ravenwood Manor, Emily stole glances at her companions—Mark, whose infectious laughter filled the silence; John, with his quiet intensity; and the rest, whose faces she barely recognized.

The nine of them didn't really know each other beyond brief introductions and shared smiles. There was an undeniable tension in the air, a mix of excitement and apprehension as they navigated the unfamiliar path together. Emily found herself wondering about the stories hidden behind their smiles, the secrets they kept tucked away.

As Ravenwood Manor loomed into view, its dark silhouette against the gray sky sent a shiver down Emily's spine. The manor exuded an eerie presence, its windows staring like empty eyes into the approaching dusk. The rain had stopped, leaving the air thick with anticipation.

"This is it," Sarah announced, pulling into the gravel driveway. "Welcome to Ravenwood Manor, where the adventure begins."

Emily swallowed hard, her heart pounding. She stepped out of the car into the cool embrace of the evening, the echoes of her breakup fading momentarily in the face of the unknown. This weekend would either be a chance for them to forge bonds that would last a lifetime—or a descent into a darkness none of them could have ever imagined.
