The Butterflies

While at Lunch she glances at David passing by her table, she had liked him since the 5th grade, she thought that it had to be time to make her move one of these days. Tara liked everything about him despite the rumors he heard about him with all the other girls. Her whole world lit up when he was in her line of sight.

Tara’s heart was racing as she approached David’s table at lunch. She had been crushing on him since forever, and she finally decided to take the plunge and ask for his number. She took a deep breath, her eyes locked on his, and mustered up all the courage she could find.

while walking towards his table she couldn't help but look anywhere else but at him because it was make it awkward.

Hey, David, do you mind if I sit here?” Tara asked as she approached his lunch table. David’s face lit up when he saw her, and he nodded his head.

“yeah, yeah sit” he smiled.

Tara’s heart raced as she sat down across from him. She had been wanting to ask him for his number since forever, and she finally decided to take the plunge.

“Listen, David, I was wondering if I could get your number,” Tara said, her voice shaking slightly.

David didn't seem to mind how nervous she was. "yea sure" he says while he reaches into his pocket and pulls out his phone. He unlocks the screen and brings up the contacts list, all while maintaining a casual demeanor. He enters his name and number into Tara’s phone, then hands it back to her with a relaxed smile.

The whole time for the rest of the day the only thing she could think of, was him, and just impatiently waiting for him to call her and sweep her off her feet. Later that day she was quite drained from all the math homework she had to do. Walking over to pick her tv remote up from her soft pink wool blanket she hears her phone ring from on her desk. She instantly get's up to see who it might be.

"oh my god, it's David!" she jumps up and down while squealing. before answering the phone she makes sure to get herself together first so she wouldn't sound like a complete idiot.

"Hey is this Tara". - He asked

" Hey, yeah this is Tara". while she smiles only on the right side of her face.

"Hey, how was your day" he asked.

Tara takes a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves as she responds to David’s question. “My day was pretty good, actually. I had a lot of work to catch up on, but overall, it was a productive day.”

David smiles, clearly happy to hear that Tara’s day went well. “That’s great to hear."

As Tara sat on her bed, talking to David on the phone, she felt her heart race with anticipation. She struggled to sound cool and collected, not wanting to let her true feelings show. Despite her best efforts, her voice still shook slightly as she asked, “David, I like you. A lot.”

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone as David took in Tara’s confession. Finally, he spoke. “I like you too, Tara,” he said softly.

Tara’s heart swelled with joy at David’s words, but she tried to keep her voice calm and casual. “I’m glad to hear that,” she responded. “I’ve been having a really great time getting to know you better.”

The two continued to talk on the phone, their conversation growing more natural and comfortable with each passing minute. Tara was grateful that she had finally mustered up the courage to tell David how she felt. Whether they ended up together or not, she was content in knowing that she had expressed her thoughts and feelings.

The next day Tara sat at her desk in her Algebra class, still feeling a little overwhelmed from her phone conversation with David the previous night. She was trying to focus on the lesson, but her mind kept wandering back to their conversation. She couldn’t believe that David had actually had the same feelings.

As she was lost in thought, Tara felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned to see David standing next to her, smiling. “Hey, Tara,” he said.

Tara’s heart fluttered at the sight of him. “Hey, David,” she replied.

The two of them chatted for a few minutes before the class began. After the school day was over, they walked together to the parking lot. As they approached their cars, David turned to Tara. “Can I see you tonight?” he asked.

Tara’s heart skipped a beat. “Absolutely. What time?” she asked, trying to sound calm and cool.

“How about 8 pm?” he said before walking to his car.

Tara felt a warm glow spread through her body as she watched him drive away. She couldn’t wait to see him that night.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
