Chapter 1

Ally stood there panicking because she didn’t know where she was as questions flooded her mind. Her most wondered question that kept haunting her was, why was she in the forest? After five minutes she suddenly blacked out as the memories returned to her. She was on her way to what she thought was heaven but was suddenly hit on the side by something, or someone, knocking her off course. She wondered if she was alive since she had been knocked off course of the afterlife. She also wondered if she possibly was dead but not in the right place. She quickly knocked that idea out of her head. One day she wanted to test whether or not she was dead. She slowly and cautiously walked onto the road and waited for a car. A semi-truck started heading her way and she braced herself in case that by some miracle she was alive. She was hoping the truck would notice her and stop but it didn’t.

She started to get scared as she yelled at the driver to stop but he kept getting closer untill there was barely and space between her and the giant truck. She closed her eyes and felt a breeze go through her. Out of confusion she opened her eyes and the truck was nowhere. She turned around and the truck was behind her still driving. That's all it took to convince her that she was dead. She ran back into the woods terrified. She climbed up a tree and jumped down. She hadn’t felt a thing when she hit the ground. She tried extremely hard to remember how it came to this. Then, she blacked out, this time regaining all her memories.

It was like watching a movie. She stared at herself as her and her mom were in the car singing along to the music that was blasting. Ally was unbuckled at the time so she could grab something out of the back of the car. Suddenly a car swerved in front of them and Ally stood there watching herself and her moms frightened faces. Her mom swerved to avoid a head on collision and ended up going down a hill and hitting a tree. By now Ally was crying for the memories to stop. She cried but no one could hear her, she felt helpless. She remembered looking out the car window, which was smashed, and seeing her mother getting out of the car screaming for someone to help. Her mother rushed over to Ally to promise her everything was going to be okay. She smiled at her mother then she was back to reality.

“No! That can't be how I died! It can't!'' She tried to scream but she found she couldn't talk or make any sound so she cried. She found that she was out for nineteen months. After some time of being dead she started forgetting what her family looked like no matter how hard she held onto them. She sat there trying to hold onto the faces of her loved ones when a boy about her age had run into her. The boy stumbled back and looked terrified like something had spooked him. She heard a giant and loud roar and became just as scared as the boy looked.

“Come with me now! Hurry, we have to go before donedum gets here!” the boy yelled. Panic was running through her body. The boy grabbed her hand before she could protest and ran. They ran  into a scary and dark part of the woods. She didn’t mind being in a scary place as long as she was away from whatever was chasing them. She was thankful but refused to ask the boy what was happening until the boy explained. “ Ok, we were just chased by donedum and i'm not gonna go into details but it's not something you wanna mess with.” The boy said.

He could talk? If he could talk then why couldn’t she? He also said that donedum was once a child stuck like they were and she was always angry at everything so she ran off into a mountain chasing happy children for eternity.

Ally felt bad for the girl. She understood what it was like to be angry and running off because people won't accept you for who you are. She has had a feeling that something was off about the boy. He suddenly let out a screech that haunts nightmares before Ally could ask if he was ok. Ally froze but then forced her legs to move. She ran as far as she could. She could hear the boy calling for her as he got closer. She climbed up a tree and hid until he passed. She could hearhim calling for her to come out of the tree. She stayed quiet as a mouse so she wouldn't get taken to whatever hell he had waiting for her. She was even more terrified that he knew she was in the tree. He started slowly climbing the tree. He got closer and closer to her until she bolted from the tree and fell to hard ground below her. She ran farther and farther. She could hear the boy still coming for her. His screeching was ear piercing.  She ran for about an hour before realizing she didn't need to breathe because she couldn't run out of breath. She kept running until she found a hole in a tree she could fit in. She hid in the hole and watched as the boy walked past her not knowing she would play the same trick twice. All of a sudden she was jerked up the tree by someone. She landed in what looked like a treehouse. She thought that the girl who had grabbed her was with the boy and passed out from fear. She fell to the ground of the tree house.

When she had finally woken up she saw a girl holding soup. The girl helped Ally sit up and asked if she was ok. Ally did not respond instead she stared at her with fear in her eyes. The girl reassured her that everything was okay while Ally carefully ate the soup. Ally slowly calmed down and felt she was in a safe place. “I'm Camdon, what’s your name?” Camdon said.

“A-Ally.”Ally cautiously said. She felt somewhat safe but not 100 percent safe.

“The boy who was chasing you is a beast of the ghost world, its also known as the faint world, anyways, hes a helper of donedum and he tricks kids into thinking hes just a regular kid like us and then snatches them and gives them an eternity of torture.” Camdon explained. Ally was glad she had escaped the boy. It would be terrible being tortured for life. Or well, for the entirety of her afterlife. Camdon walks away to wash Ally's soup bowl. Ally suddenly heard a loud terrifying, and somewhat familiar, sound. Camdon came running in. “Ally run and get out of here now!” Camdon yelled. Something lunged at Camdon and took her down. Ally ran as far as she could. She had made a mental note to get revenge on the monster. She could hear the monster running after here. Then, the dreadful thought came to her. What happened to Camdon? Was she okay? She couldn't stop thinking about it, she didn't have time. She had to keep running. As she was running an idea popped into her head.

While the monster was chasing her she went behind a tree. She waited for the monster to pass and then hit him with a branch. He fell to the ground and was unconscious. Ally saw Camdon running up to her and a flood of relief went over Ally. She hugged Camdon. “What were you thinking! You could have gotten hurt badly by that thing!” Ally yelled. Camden just smiled and laughed. She remembered she couldn't talk and they were talking through their minds. She tried to speak again and nothing came out. Ally and Camdon walked to a tree log and they both sat down and had a conversation.

“Why can't we talk?” she asked. Camden just shrugged her shoulders. She didn't know why either. Ally made it her job to learn how to talk or figure out why they couldn't talk. When night came she couldn't sleep, instead, she kept moving around and looking for others who were like her and Camdon. When Camdon woke up around eleven p.m they both walked around in search of a town. They came up to a town around midnight.

“Yes! Want to learn how to possess people Ally?” Camden exclaimed with a giant smile on her face. Ally couldn't help but blush and nod in agreement. Camden explained how to possess the person and then had Ally try. She got it on the first try, they ended up possessing two little girls that looked like twins. They could hear the mother calling for them to come back to their car so they came.

When they had gotten to the girls room, they hated it and asked their mom to change the color of the room to purple. The mother gave the girls a strange look and said yes. After that they sat and played with dolls. While they were playing Ally realized that she had been playing with the dolls without noticing what she was doing.

“Since we are inside two five year olds' bodies, dolls are a natural thing to play with.” Camdon explained. Camdon looked up to see a mischievous smile on Ally's face. Ally got up and Called for Camdon to follow. They both went downstairs and Ally started doing things she knew she wasn't allowed to do. Camden realized what she was doing and joined in. While the mother was asleep they had ice cream and had made a huge mess. They hid in the closet of the girls room while the mother looked for them. After two weeks of being inside the girls they left their bodies. They left the house and before they left they could hear the screams and laughter coming from the little girls.

When Allyssa was alive, she was quite the trouble maker. Suddenly she stopped while walking away from the house and into the woods. It was her first memory in a while. Camdon had said before that she would remember things but she was still very excited. They traveled farther into the woods and looked for somewhere to take a break. They heard a branch break, they jerked around to see a kid about their age staring at them. He hid when he realized that they were noticing him. They could tell he was alive since he didn't have the afterlife glow. They slowly walked up to him.

“We’re not going to hurt you, it's okay, but how can you see us?” Camdon spoke. Ally was shocked that Camdon could speak to the boy. What else was she hiding?

“I was born with the power to see the dead… well, half-dead.” the boy said. The girls were both very confused on how he could see them. Ally was even more confused as to how Camdon could speak. The boy jerked away from the girls and ran.

“Wait!” Camdon yelled. They ran after the boy but gave up after some time.

“Where are we going?” Ally asked Camdon. No response from Camdon. Ally had a feeling that this place they were going to wasn't going to be a good place.

“Everythings going to be okay, Ally.” Camdon quietly spoken. Ally’s suspicion grew even though she was reassured everything would be fine. After some more walking they came up to a waterfall and Ally went red. She hoped that Camdon felt the same about her.

“Where are we?” Ally asked. She looked over at Camden and she looked like she was about to cry.

“You’re the sacrifice.” Camdon said. Ally got freaked out and ran. She could hear Camdon running after her and that made her run even faster. Camdon kept yelling at Ally to get out of the tree she climbed into. A boy that looked older jumped out of the top of the tree and yelled at Camden to leave.

“Hey, she's gone now, you can come out Ally.” The boy said. How did he know her name? Even her nickname? She slowly climbed out. She stared at the boy for a minute before realizing who it was. She fell out of the tree and hurriedly got up and hugged her brother.

“Charlie!” Ally yelled as she hugged him.

“I missed you too. Listen, Camdon is a worshiper of monsters so you need to forget about her.” Ally nodded in understanding and then they ran.

They ran north in hopes of finding safety from the worshippers. “Also, I can teach you how to speak when we find some shelter.” Charlie said. Ally was extremely excited. They ran again for a couple of hours before stopping. It was dark out and they thought they would be safe where they were. They stayed up all night catching each other up. When morning came they started their journey again. They shared ideas of what kind of house they wanted to live in. Ally wanted a big house or an old abandoned castle with three or more stories. Charlie wanted smaller, but they both agreed that they would be happy as long as they get to live in the same place. They also decided that as long as they both lived in the same abandoned town then that would work too. They kept talking about houses and what it would be like.

“Can we take a break so you can teach me to speak?”Ally asked her brother.

“Sure, all you have to do is try to make a sound and that's it. After that you can talk completely.” Charlie explained. Ally's heart started racing with excitement. She couldn't believe that it was this easy to speak. She promised herself that she would practice everyday. That night she watched her brother sleep wishing she could fall asleep herself. She didn't need sleep so she wasn't super tired but she was beyond exhausted. She decided to start practicing.

“...” nothing. She was disappointed she couldn't talk. Then that disappointment turned to anger. She decided to take a walk to cool down. Before she left she woke her brother up to let him know. He sleepily gave her permission to walk at night without him and went back to sleep.

As she was walking she suddenly stopped dead in her tracks. She was humming. She remembered that she used to hum all the time so this time must have been out of habit. “Hello.” she spoke. Amazed with her voice she decided to run back to her brother to tell him the exciting news. When she got to her brother she pounced. She jumped on top of him to wake him up.

“Ally!! What the heck!” Charlie said.

“I can speak!”

“Oh my god!!! This is amazing!” Charlie exclaimed as he pulled his little sister into a giant hug.  “So how did you figure it out?” he asked

“I had a really bad habit of humming before I….you know. I was walking around the woods to clear my head and I started humming.”Ally explained.

“Wow, that's amazing you could do that. Now we can actually talk instead of reading minds like some kind of weird alien book.” Charlie said. Ally laughed at his joke.

“Ok. we should probably get a move on if we want to find a nice place to stay in.” Ally told her brother. Charlie nodded his head in agreement and they started walking. Ally only looked back once to remember her ex-friend that had betrayed her.

They suddenly heard a twig snap like someone had stepped on it. Like someone was watching them. They both turned around to find the boy Ally and Camdon had run into before. “Hello? Why are you following us?” Ally asked out of curiosity.

“Hi! I was um… I was wondering if I could go with you guys wherever you’re going.” The boy spoke. He sounded frightened. Ally was filled with worry while her brother was suspicious.

“Of course!” Ally said. Her brother shot her a look of disapproval but she ignored him and continued talking to the boy. “One thing, why are you here? You’re still alive right? Where are your parents at?” The boy immediately looked like he was about to cry and Charlie was no longer suspicious of the boy.

“Hey. It's okay if you dont wanna tell us. You’re welcome to join us. Actually, we were just going out to find a place to stay.” Charlie explained in the calmest voice he could.

“No it's ok, I can explain. My mom passed away a while back and I ran away from my father. I have been looking for ghosts or people who could take care of me… or be my friend. I would love to come with you. I-I promise I can take care of myself! It’ll be like I was never here! I can find my own food and everything. I just need some company and a place to stay!” the boy explained as he started crying. Ally rushed to the boy and sweeped him into a hug.

“Um… Ally? You know how to touch living things? That's amazing! Why didn’t you tell me! It took me forever to become solid But um…kid? What's your name if you don’t mind me asking?” Charlie said.

“Actually I never learned how.” Ally spoke with confusion. The boy whispered something into her ear. “He said his name is Levi. Wow! That’s an amazing name. If i was a guy i would want that name.” Ally said to Charlie and their new friend Levi.

Ally was ready to leave and go somewhere. “Well, what the hell are we waiting for? Let's go!” Ally yelled excitedly.

“Allyssa Michelle Carson! Language!” Charlie angrily shouted. Ally and Levi looked at each other and burst out laughing. This made Charlie very upset.

“Ok dad!” Ally and Levi said in unison. Charlie was even more upset.

“What are you talking about!” Charlie paused for a minute as realization hit his face, “oh… sorry i just haven't seen you since you were little. You were only 8 the last time I saw you and we all know that 8 year olds can't say that.” Charlie apologized.

“Dude, it's fine. We all make mistakes sometimes.” Ally said to calm down her upset brother. Ally has always talked in a sweet and soothing voice since she learned how to. She saw her mother do it and decided she wanted to do it to be more like her mom. Ever since she learned how to, she's been using it to calm people and it always worked.

“Thanks Mrs. Magic.” Charlie said. Ally went red with embarrassment as Levi’s was of pure confusion. Ally had gotten the nickname when her grandma had died and she was able to calm down her grandpa when she was around 5 years old.

“No problem….. Well shall we get going?” Ally asked her brother. He is the oldest so he gets to choose where they go. The two kids followed Charlie when he started going north. As they were walking they came across a hole in the ground. It was more of a giant drop they had to walk around.

Since Ally and Charlie were both ghosts they had no problem doing it but Levi was soon out of breath. “Dude, this isn't fair you guys never run out of breath but I do. What the hell man, this isn't fair at all.” Levi complained. Ally laughed at him and Levi punched her in the arm.

“Actually we can get out of breath, it's just harder.” Charlie explained.

“See, we CAN get out of breath. Don't be a baby and give up halfway through alright.” Ally teased. Levi again punched her arm.

“Alright guys knock it off.” Charlie said. Ally started laughing and Levi gave a look of confusion. She then ran in the direction we were walking and Levi followed. “Guys! Wait up!” Charlie yelled as he ran after the laughing children.

Soon Levi was out of breath so the fun was cut short. They all sat on a log talking about their dreams. “We barely ran at all, how are you already out of breath?” Ally complained. Charlie had enough of her complaining and lightly punched her right arm at the same time Levi punched her left.

“Cut it out!” They both yelled in unison at ally.

“Shut up Charlie, you always complained when you were alive.”

“No I did not, besides how would you know if you were only eight years old!” Charlie yelled. Anger was rising in his voice and Levi wanted to say something but did not want to get involved.

“Yeah! Eight years old! I was old enough to know what complaining was!”

“Just shut up! Seriously, I'm about to smack both of you! God!” Levi screamed. They both looked at him in shock and whispered a sorry to the other sibling. “Thank you, now, can we get going?” He was still a bit upset about them arguing and him having to put an end to it but as long as they shut up he didn't care.

They continued their walk in silence. They got around their obstacle and then Ally and Levi started playing games. They both ran through a field of flowers while Charlie watched them on the outside of the field. They chased each other playing tag.

Charlie made sure to keep a very close eye on the two because he knew what lurked in the shadows of this area. Suddenly something darts into the fields. Panic started rising as he realized his sister and her friend were in much danger.

“Guys!! Over here now!!” he screamed as loud as he could hoping to scare them away. Panic rose in his throat as he realized what it was. The children were shocked by the fear in his voice and came running as fast as their legs could go.

“Charlie, are you ok?” Ally said with fear and confusion clear on her face.

“Monsters… can't explain much but we have to go, now!” Charlie yelled. He looked behind the children and went pale with fear. Before the others could question he grabbed both of them harshly and ran.

“Hey!” Ally yelled as her arm was painfully being pulled. She looked back while Charlie was dragging her and Levi and saw it. The most ugly thing she had ever seen yet also the scariest. It had a purple glow to it that made it ten times more terrifying. It was running at them at full speed with its teeth out and ready to attack us the second it gets a chance.

She looked to the front and began putting more effort into her running than she had been before. She looked at Levi who had obviously seen it too because he was running faster than before as well. They all kept running until they found a spot and hid as the monster ran past them.

“Ok. what the actual heck was that charlie you need to explain right now!” Ally hissed at her brother. Levi was next to her and he looked as if he was about to pass out because he was human and ran out of breath.

“Goblemasters. Also the names norman in case you were wondering. Not here to hurt you never would even think about it.'' Norman said as he came from behind and scared the trio. Charlie didn't recognize this person so he jumped up and got in front of the others to protect them.

“Hi? How can we trust you and how do we know you won't sacrifice us to the beast?'' Charlie said. He was fully ready to attack and run to safety with his sister and Levi if necessary.

“Well, i don't know i mean, i know you know me just dont remember me right bunk buddy?” Norman said. Charlie's eyes went wide with surprise.

“Norman? Wow, I can't believe I forgot about you.” Charlie whispered. He felt bad for forgetting someone so important to him. He walked up to Norman and hugged him. He had to try really hard not to cry as the tears started to form in his eyes.

“Hey it's ok.” Norman said as he held Charlie and let him cry on his shoulder. He looked at the two younger looking kids. He locked eyes with Levi but didn't say anything, just gave a nod and looked at the girl. “Ally right? This guys little sister? I haven't seen you since you were eight years old.'' Norman asks.

“Yep im his little sister.” Ally says as she walks over to comfort her brother. He lets go of his hug from Norman and wipes his face.

“Well, why dont yall come hang out at my tree house, it's not much but it'll fit everyone.” Norman said. The others nodded and followed him to the tree house. It was huge for a one person house. They had all gotten into the house and Norman locked the door to keep the monsters out.

“Hey norman? Can I talk to you alone please?” Charlie asked.

“Sure bunk buddy!” Norman laughed. They both walked into Norman's bedroom and left the two to be on their own. They found a room to stay in. They didn't mind sharing a room.

“ What do you think they are doing?” Levi asked. Ally shrugged her shoulders and sat down on the bed she decided was hers.

“Do you want to go into Norman's room and find out? Besides, I have a good feeling that I know exactly what they are doing there.” Ally smirked. Levi was confused but decided to let her go find out what the two boys were up to.

“Do you think they'll find out? I mean it would be nice for them to know but what if they are homophobic or something?'' Norman asked Charlie while laying on his chest. Charlie tightened his arms around Norman and gave him a kiss on the forehead.

“We’ll tell them whenever you're ready to ok? It's not like they are gonna walk in on us making out.'' Charlie laughed as he saw Norman's face go bright red. Charlie gave Norman a quick kiss on the lips right as Ally walked in to check on them.

“Omg i knew it! You're gay for each other, yes!” Ally squealed with excitement. She had a feeling this is what they were doing but she was still excited. Norman shot up from where he was laying on charlie and backed himself up against a wall.

“What are you doing here allyssa! You're supposed to knock!” Charlie yelled out of anger. At that time Levi walked in and saw the scene and slowly started putting together what happened.

“Hey, it's ok. I support you honestly. I might be gay too but I don't know right now.” Ally spoke in a calm tone. She could feel her brother's anger so she went up to him and hugged him.

“Thank you ally.” Charlie said.

“Im sorry please dont be mad im really sorry.” Norman said in a panicked voice. He had backed himself up into a corner and was crying and very shaky.

“Norman!'' Charlie said in a panicked voice. He ran over to Norman and hugged him while he cried, “nobody is mad at you I promise. It's ok love.” Charlie whispered to help calm him down. Ally decided to join the hug to let Norman know she supported him no matter what life he chose even though she barely knew him. He means a lot to her brother and that's all she cares about at this moment.

Ally walked over to Levi after a second of hugging. “He's gonna be ok right? I'm sorry we should’ve just given them privacy.” Levi said. Ally gave him a hug and a nod to tell him everything was ok.

“I'm Charlie's little sibling. Privacy is only in bathrooms. That's about it. I'm his little sister. I'm supposed to annoy him. Besides, I would fail being a little sister if I wasn't like this.” ally said. They all laughed at that.

“Can you two please give us a minute, please?” Charlie asked quietly. Ally gave him a quick hug and a sweet smile and she and Levi left the room. Norman was calming down and it helped only having one person in the room with him. Charlie continued to hold him and they stayed like that for a while.

Ally and Levi left the two in the room and shut the door behind them. They walked to the kitchen and sat down to eat. They were eating and talking about random things when the door burst down.

“The hell!” Ally yelled as an adult living man walked in. She looked over to Levi and saw he had gone pale as a ghost. It was obvious he knew exactly who this man was.

“Levi! What the hell is wrong with you! What do you think you're doing here with this kid! I died trying to find you damn it!” he yelled. Ok, so he wasn't alive. He made it pretty clear that he's Levi's dad. Ally stepped in front of Levi to protect him in case something happened.

“Hey. calm down let's talk ok? Why are you mad at Levi, what did he do and who are you to him? I'm not letting you pass me until you answer.''Ally talked in the most serious tone she'd ever had to use. The man got extremely upset.

“Let me see my son!” his dad yelled as he smacked Ally and she hit the side of the table and fell. He was lined up for Levi as Levi backed up.

“I-im sorry dad!” Levi yelled out of fear. His dad got in his face and punched him. He hit the ground. He hurriedly got up and ran to Charlie and levi.

“Hey charlie… we have a problem.” Levi shakily spoke. Charlie and Norman ran to him when all of a sudden they heard a scream from the kitchen.

“Ally! What's going on levi?!” Charlie asked with panic clear on his face.

“Dads here and he's not happy.” Levi looked at norman. Norman's eyes went wide when he realized Levi was his brother and his abusive dad was in his house.

“Charlie go help ally i'll be there as soon as i get him all fixed up.'' Norman said. Charlie ran out of the room as quickly as he could to get to his sister.

“ Hey little bro, how have you been holding up?” Norman said as he checked his brother's bruises and scratches. Levi's eyes started to tear up when he looked at his brother. They hugged for a second and Norman went back to making sure he was ok. Everything was peaceful for a minute.

Suddenly a surge of panic rushed through Norman. If Levi's father was out there then that meant his father was out there. Their friends were in trouble. His boyfriend was in trouble. “Charlie!! Ally!! Hang on!!” Norman said as he and his brother rushed out of the room to help their friends. They both ran out of the room with Levi right behind his brother.

They walked into the kitchen to ally and Charlie barely conscious and their father was crying on the ground. “What the heck marcus!” Norman yelled out of anger and fear for his friends. He ran to Charlie as Levi ran over to ally. Their father stood up and apologized immediately. Levi stood up and hugged his father. Norman was surprised.

“It's ok dad. Norman, dads been getting better but because he has anger issues it makes it hard sometimes but he's trying." Norman started tearing up and hugged his father.

“What's going on?” Charlies slurred his words since he had just regained consciousness. Charlie rushed over to him to make sure he was alright then helped him up.

“So… this is your friend? Sorry I lashed out like that. I don't know what came over me.” Marcus, their father, apologizes.

“I'm ok, also not his friend, I’m his boyfriend” Norman watched as Charlie's eyes lit up.
