A worthy prequel
"This is a prequel to "Just Survive", and basically tells the backstories of four principal characters --- Ashley, Colby, Zach, and baby Jenny's parents, Sarah & Martin. We find them on Zero Day --- the day the Contagion / Outbreak started --- when they were primarily kids (Ash, Colby). Each chapter is devoted to one of these four main characters. The concept is good. However, wish these chapters were written in the First Person. Nothing makes one more invested emotionally than a narration from the main character's mouth. Especially in a story as emotion-driven as this one. Ash, Colby and Zach could have narrated the incidents of Zero Day in their own words, and shared with us what they saw with their own eyes. That being said, this is a very worthy prequel that deserves a thorough read."

"An emotional and intense read. The story is raw and gritty, with just the right balance of action and emotion. The way Zach fights to protect his little sister, Kelly, in a world falling apart around them is powerful and heartbreaking. I loved how the sibling bond is the heart of the story, adding depth to every decision Zach makes. It’s a hauntingly realistic take on survival, and I was rooting for them until the very end. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good, soul-stirring apocalypse story!"
Outbreak
"A really poignant glimpse of young characters submerged in a Zombie Outbreak. It has a bit of a Walking Dead vibe in that it seems like the idea of the story focuses on the people over the actual zombies. The pacing is really fast and I would definitely check out the first book before diving into this tie-in for this glimpse into the early years of the Author's characters! Nice job, Samantha! I feel like a lot of people would love this storyline! "
