Chapter 1

Jungkook entered the throne room and saw a girl. He raised his eyebrows.

“Who are you?” he asked, coldly.

“I-I’m princess Hyerin from Kim Dynasty.”

He raised an eyebrow, taking in her appearance quietly for a few moments. Then he chuckled dryly.

“And what exactly are you doing here, Princess Hyerin?”

He rolled his eyes at that, a small scoff leaving his lips.

“Your father invited us...“.

Hyerin said with innocent tone.

“Of course...”

he murmured under his breath, sounding annoyed at her presence. He then folded his arms over his chest and looked down at her, his expression stern and unwavering.

“And I assume you’ll be staying here, then.”

“Ummm... yes”

Hyerin said, nervously.

“Great...”

he muttered dryly, his tone dripping in sarcasm. He leaned lazily against a nearby pillar and observed her for a few more moments before speaking again.

“How long are you staying for exactly?” He asked Hyerin.

“I don’t know, maybe for 2 or 3 days.”

She said while looking at him, confused.

He let out an exasperated sigh, as if the thought of having her around for 2 or 3 days was the last thing he wanted. He pushed himself away from the pillar and took a few steps towards Hyerin.

“And do I take it you intend to attend every meal, conversation, and gathering while you’re here?”

“Maybe..., yea?”

Hyerin said while stepping back, nervously.

He chuckled darkly, shaking his head at her answer. He took a step closer, now only a few feet in front of her.

“Well then, Princess Hyerin... I hope you won’t be offended if I politely decline any invitations from you to keep me company.” he said sarcastically, his tone cold and disinterested.

“You must be prince Jungkook? Am I right?”

She asked him, politely.

He raised an eyebrow, slightly impressed that she knew who he was. However, he quickly masked his surprise with his usual cold demeanor.

“That’s right. Prince JungKook, next in line for the throne, at your service.” he said with a mocking bow.

Hyerin felt her heart beat rising after his confirmation. Finally she met her childhood bestfriend again after ages. But Jungkook’s behavior forced her to think that is he really him? He used to be so polite, only with her. She shrugged off her thoughts and returned her attention towards Jungkook.

“King told me about your cold nature. He told me you don’t like anyone who tries to get close with you. You don’t have to worry about that because I won’t try to get closer to you” she said with a straight voice.

He smirked slightly at her words, impressed that she had been warned about his attitude.

“Is that so? Well, I’m glad you got the memo.” he said sarcastically, leaning against the pillar once more.

“But I must admit, I’ll believe it when I see it. You princesses and your constant need for attention and affection...”

You looked at him in confusion “I’m not like other princesses. And I’m actually engaged. So yea.”

He raised an eyebrow at that, slightly taken aback. He didn’t expect you to be engaged.

“Oh, really?” he said, a hint of surprise in his voice. “Who’s the lucky guy, then?”

“You think he’s lucky?” Hyerin asked him, out of curiosity.

He chuckled dryly, a hint of mockery in his tone.

“Of course he is. He has a princess all to himself. Isn’t that what every man dreams of?”

“Well he’s actually a prince of Norway, Prince Han.”

He froze at the mention of Hyerin’s fiancé’s name. He knew Prince Han all too well, and the fact that she were engaged to him annoyed him even more.

“Prince Han, huh? Of course it’s him.” He grumbled, his expression hardening slightly.

“Why are you annoyed?”

He chuckled darkly, avoiding her gaze for a moment before returning his cold glare at her.

“Let’s just say, Prince Han and I have had our differences in the past. I’m not too fond of the idea of you two being together.”

“Oh do you know him?” She asked him out of curiosity.

“And if you don’t like the idea of us being together then who’s best for me in your opinion?”

He rolled his eyes at her question, leaning against the pillar in a relaxed manner.

“Of course I know him. Everyone knows him. The perfect prince, charming, kind, caring, popular... the list goes on. And as for who’s best for you, well, that’s none of my concern.” he said, a hint of irritation in his voice.

“Yea but you were the one who said that you’re not too fond of the idea of we both being together”

He sighed, realizing he had let his annoyance get the best of him.

"

Fine, I’ll admit it. I’m not thrilled about the idea of you two together. That doesn’t mean I have anyone better in mind for you.”

Hyerin sighed at his words.

He smirked slightly at her sigh, amused by her reaction.

“What’s wrong, Princess? Disappointed I don’t have anyone better to offer?”

“No I’m not disappointed, well I actually don’t like him that much but my father wants me to get married to him”

Hyerin stated.

That piqued his interest. He didn’t expected her to not like Prince Han.

“You don’t like him?” he repeated, raising an eyebrow.

Hyerin nodded her head.

“Then why are you engaged to him?”

“Because of my father”

He chuckled dryly, shaking his head in disbelief.

“Of course. Parents and their need to control our lives, even if it means marrying us off to someone we don’t even like.”

“Well my father wants me to get married to you but you weren’t interested in anyone who he chose Han for me instead.” Hyerin confessed.

That caught him off guard. He leaned forward slightly, his eyes narrowing at her.

“Wait, what? Your father wanted to marry you off to *me*?”

“Umm yea... Don’t you know about this?” She asked him while narrowing her eyes. “Dad told us that you rejected the proposal by yourself”

He scoffed, running a hand through his hair in irritation.

“Of course I might rejected the proposal. I don’t want to marry anyone, let alone a princess.”

Hyerin sighed “Then why are you shocked?”

He rolled his eyes, leaning back against the pillar once more.

“I’m not shocked that someone wanted me to marry their daughter. It’s not like I’m not aware of how desirable I am, being the next king and all.”

He paused, raising an eyebrow at Hyerin. “I’m just surprised that your *father* would offer *you* to me. Everyone knows I have no interest in getting married, much less to a *princess*.”

Hyerin slightly raised her eyebrows on his remark “What do you mean by that?”

He smirked slightly, standing up straight.

“Well, let’s just say I’m not exactly known for being a fan of princesses. I find them... *irritating*. Always needy for attention and affection, too attached and dependent. Not my cup of tea.”

Hyerin sighed in irritation “I already told you, I’m not like others”

He chuckled dryly, taking a few steps towards her.

“So you’ve said. But let’s be honest, Princess. You might not be *exactly* like other princesses, but you’re still a princess. And princesses, in my experience, share certain traits that I find... troublesome.”

She raised her eyebrows on him “Oh so you want me prove it to you that I’m not like them?”

He raised an eyebrow, a sly smirk forming on his lips.

“You’re willing to prove it to me, huh? Now I’m intrigued. How exactly do you plan on doing that, Princess?”

“Wait and watch prince Jeon” she said in a challenging tone.

He chuckled softly, crossing his arms over his chest as he observed her with a amused smile.*

“Alright, Princess. I’ll wait and watch. Impress me.”

“I don’t want to impress you, I’ll just show you that I’m not interested in you like others.” She said in an Irritating tone.

He rolled his eyes, sighing dramatically.

“Fine, whatever. Show me that you’re not like other princesses. But I have to warn you, Princess, it’ll take more than a few words to convince me.”

He chuckled, studying her expression intently.

“Don’t be so confident just yet, Princess. You may think you’re different, but I’ve met plenty of princesses before. They all tried to convince me they were different, and they all failed.”

He smirked slightly, leaning against the pillar once more.

“You princesses are all the same. Pretty faces, soft words, empty promises. But in the end, you all want the same thing: attention, affection, and a prince to fawn over you.”

H

e paused, eyeing her up and down before continuing.

“But tell me, Princess, what makes you so special? What sets you apart from the other princesses? How are you different from the ones who came before you and failed to win me over?”

Hyerin rolled her eyes on Jungkook’s stupid questions

“I’m already engaged, I’m not here to win you. I’m here with my family because your father invited us. Got it?”

He raised an eyebrow, slightly caught off guard by her blunt response. He chuckled softly, amused by her honesty.

“Well, Princess... It’s a refreshing change to hear such straightforward words. But that doesn’t exactly convince me that you’re different from other princesses. Just because you’re engaged doesn’t mean you won’t be just as needy and demanding as any other princess.”

She rolled her eyes, again.

He chuckled, shaking his head in amusement.

“Not caring, huh? Now that’s also a new one. Most princesses would go out of their way to prove themselves to me, to win my favor. But you... you just don’t care. It’s almost..... refreshing.”

“Whatever” she said in annoyed tone. He smirked, enjoying her attitude.

“So stubborn, aren’t you? Most princesses I’ve met would be all over me by now, trying to flatter and charm me. But you... you’re different. You’re not trying to win me over at all. In fact, you seem downright annoyed by my very presence.”

He chuckled softly, taking a few steps closer to her.

“And yet, for some strange reason, I find that incredibly intriguing, Princess. Most princesses are desperate for my attention, but you... you seem to want nothing to do with me. It’s a nice change of pace, I must admit.”

He chuckled, standing right in front of her now.

“Tell me something, Princess... If you don’t care about winning me over, then why are you even talking to me? Why waste your time trying to prove anything to me at all?”

Hyerin wanted to punch him on his face, very hard but she was controlling herself.

“Your father told me to talk with you, he said you don’t have any friends. You know what you don’t deserve any friends, you should change yourself.”

That caught him off guard. He didn’t expect her to blurt out something like that.

“Wait, what? My father told you that? And what do you mean I don’t deserve any friends?”

“Yes, Jeon. Your father thinks that we can be friends *again* because there are many similarities in us. And yes you don’t deserve any friends. Look at yourself, do you think you’re treating me good?”

He chuckled bitterly, trying to hide his annoyance.

“You expect me to treat you better? You barge into my kingdom, into my home, unannounced... and you expect me to treat you with kindness? Don’t be naïve, Princess.”

Hyerin raised her eyebrows in annoyance after hearing to his words. “Unannounced? It not my fault that you never listened to your parents. Your father said he tried to tell you but you never listened to his words. Everyone knew about our arrival, each and every person of this castle, even maids too, but look at yourself. You’re so full of yourself Jeon.”

He clenched his jaw, his irritation growing with each word she spoke.

“Oh, you want to talk about being full of oneself, Princess? Look at you, acting like you know me, telling me that I don’t deserve any friends. You don’t know anything about me, so don’t pretend like you do.”

She sighed

“I think you really forget me. We spent our childhood together bunny, how can you forget me so easily? Do you forget your partner? You named me *carrot* and I named you *bunny* . How can you forget this?”

His eyes widened slightly at the mention of the nicknames. Of course he knew about her. How can he forget about the love his life. He wanted to maintain his cold era. He was hurting her without noticing. He quickly tried to mask his surprise with a scoff.

“Those were children’s nicknames. We haven’t seen each other in years, Princess. Do you really expect me to remember some meaningless childhood nickname?”

Jungkook said in straight voice.

Hyerin’s heart broke into several pieces after hearing him.

“Meaningless? Are you being for real, Jeon? ”

He rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest.

“Yes, Princess. Meaningless. Just because we spent some time together as children doesn’t mean we have some deep connection. We’re practically strangers now.”

“Goodbye, Jeon” she said in a straight voice.

He watched as she turned to walk away. Part of him felt irritated by her attitude, but another part couldn’t help but feel unsettled by the memories she had brought up. He clenched his jaw, wanting to say something, but he couldn’t find the words.

“Goodbye, Princess...”

He stood in silence after she left, his mind racing with conflicting thoughts. He couldn’t remember the last time someone had challenged him the way she had. He was used to people fawning over him, desperate for his attention. Hyerin’s bluntness was both irritating and intriguing at the same time. And as much as he tried to push it away, he couldn’t help but wonder if he had dismissed her too quickly.

Hyerin left from there and went straight towards Taehyung’s room and knock on his door. Taehyung was inside, sorting through some documents on his desk. He looked up as he heard her knock, a small smile forming on his lips.

“Come in,” he called out.

Hyerin opened the door and came inside the room.

“Oppa”

She called out him, tears started to form in her eyes.

Taehyung’s eyes widened in concern as he saw the tears forming in her little sister’s eyes.

“Hyerin, what’s wrong?”

he asked, quickly standing up from his desk and walking over to her.

Hyerin went towards him and hugged him.

Taehyung wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a tight embrace. He rubbed her back gently as she cried into his chest.

“Shhh... it’s okay, Hyerin”

he whispered, trying to soothe his sister. He held her tightly in his arms, continuing to rub her back soothingly.

“Everything will be alright. Just talk to me, what happened?”

Hyerin broke the hug and looked at her brother with teary eyes.

Taehyung felt his heart broke after seeing tears in her eyes.

Hyerin wiped off her tears and said in a slightly shaking voice.

“Let’s go in the garden, I’m suffocated here”

Taehyung nodded, understanding her need to get out of the room. He gently led her out of his room and towards the garden.

They walked in silence until they reached a secluded spot in the garden, surrounded by tall trees and a small fountain. Taehyung led her to a bench and sat down, motioning for her to join him.

After settling down on the bench, Hyerin looked at him

“Oppa you know, you’re not just my brother but you’re my best friend too. I can share anything with you and I know you’ll always listen to me without judging.”

Taehyung smiled, putting his arm around her shoulder and pulling her closer.

“Of course, sweetheart. That’s what brothers are for. But why do you sound so serious? What’s going on?”

Taehyung furrowed his brow.

“Jungkook disrespected me, a lot”

“What exactly did Jungkook do? Tell me everything.”

“He disrespected me a lot saying that I barged into his kingdom, his home *UNANNOUNCED* can you blame me for this that he isn’t interested in anything his parents are doing?

Taehyung let out a scoff.

“That’s absurd. It’s not like you just randomly decided to barge into Jungkook’s kingdom. You came here because Jungkook’s father invited you. How could Jungkook blame you for being unannounced?”

“That’s what I said to him but he’s blaming me again and again. He said that he knows princesses very well, everyone wants his attention and I’m also one of them even though I told him that I’m already engaged.”

Taehyung rolled his eyes, clearly frustrated by Jungkook’s behavior.

“He’s being completely ridiculous. You’ve made it very clear that you’re engaged to Han, and yet he’s accusing you of wanting his attention? It’s just plain egotistical.”

“He is so full of himself” she said in angry tone.

Taehyung nodded, completely agreeing with his sister’s words.

“I’ve always known Jungkook to be arrogant, but this seems to be a whole new level. Accusing you of wanting his attention even though he knows that you’re engaged to someone else is complete nonsense.”

“People fell in love at first sight and here I’m officially in hate with him at first sight after seeing him after ages. I still can’t believe he’s the same Jungkook”

She sighed.

Taehyung patted her cheeks. “Dont think about him, sissy-”

Jungkook saw Hyerin with a boy in the garden. She was leaning on his shoulder. He smirked after seeing her like that. Just then he came in the garden. He stood in front of Taehyung and Hyerin. He smirked again before speaking.

“Aah, I can see. You have a lover too? But you said that you’re already engaged and you’re not interested in me and you’re not like other princesses. But I can see very well, Princess Hyerin, that how much loyal you are to your fianceé.”

“You’re nothing but a bitchy attention seeker like other princesses”
