Summary

Farren Skroll used to have everything; a semi loving family, a kingdom to eventually rule over and a woman to be married too. However, everything just couldn’t go to plan could it? A couple of days after his sixteenth birthday, a three headed dragon appeared and destroyed everything he knew and loved. In an attempt to escape the same fate that befell his parents, he takes refuge in the nearby cave where he meets an unlikely ally. Protected by a contract his ancestor made, the dragon decides to take him under his wing and raise him amongst dragons until he can finally unlock the magic hidden within the golden chain around his neck. Along the way, he finds himself accidentally bonding with a very grouchy dragon and, because of course it was, it turns out he's the fucking Dragon Prince.

Prologue

The Alliance Contract

Starting from today the agreement to ensure the safety of the Skroll’s descendants will be put in place. Thanks to Garris’ actions in helping prevent the extinction of the Solegal dragons, any and all family members from now on will be protected from harm by the dragons. If one Skroll member breaks this contract, only that family member will suffer – no other descendants should suffer because of the act of one family member alone. As a promise of this contract’s validity, an heirloom will be passed down to the Skroll’s descendants until the day the prophecy of the Shadronix’s Destruction raises its head. This heirloom and its powers, made by the strongest arch dragons and a large variety of other creatures, will only be able to be accessed by the descendant who will have the ability to speak the language of the beasts without needing a bond.

As a return in gratitude, all Solegal’s will promise to protect and keep any Skroll descendants from harm until they are either retrieved by their guardians or choose to leave on their own terms. If there is a time where a descendant is too young to be left to fend for themselves, they will be taken into the clan where the Solegal originates from and will take part in the Dragonic Trials when they turn eighteen alongside the other dragons of the clan. If the Solegal accepts this responsibility, they must treat the Skroll as their own kin and grieve them as such if they perish in these trials. If the Skroll member passes these trials and proves they are capable of standing on their own two feet, no longer will they be prohibited to the boundaries of the clan and are able to leave and come as they please.
