Prologue

Bella POV

Let me introduce myself. My name is Bella Blue. I am seventeen years old with an IQ of 196. I have long sandy blonde hair, with almond shape green eyes, straight nose, fine thin red lips, with an oval shape face, and an hourglass figure.

I am standing in the rain with my five-year-old brother Jake. We look alike even though I am twelve years older than he is. I look down at him as I run my fingers through his very wet hair. He looks up at me wondering why our mother is leaving us.

I know why she is leaving its because she found a man that would support her with luxury clothes, purses, and jewelry. Thankfully, I had never told her about our father leaving us a fifty-thousand-dollar policy when he died in a store robbery.

We stood there just staring at her as she threw her luggage in the back of a black Porche SUV. She doesn't even look at as she opens up the back door and slides in next to her new lover. We watched as the suv drives down the dirt road leading away from our home, leaving us alone in the rain.

I picked up Jake and carried him up the steps of the house and into the kitchen. I sat him on top of the counter top while I looked for a small kitchen towel to dry his hair.

"Why did she leave us BB?" Jake asked as tears continued down his freckled face.

I took the towel rubbing his head as I spoke to him. "Jake, she has found a new family who can provide her with the items that she covets from rich families."

"Do you think she will every come back?" Jake asked.

"No, I don't think so. I think she just wants to have a new family and forget about us." I told Jake.

Jake jumps down from the counter running up the stairs yelling "I going to take my bath now."

"Ok, I'm going to make supper now. How about waffles or pancakes." I yelled.

I laughed as I heard the bathroom door slam letting me know that Jake is now going to take a shower. I sighed, as I walked over to the refrigerator pulling out eggs and milk. I reached up to the cabinet left of the fridge pulling down flour, sugar, vanilla, and the mixer.

I pulled out the measuring cups, and the mixing bowl. I went on to the S.L website to find an awesome recipe for homemade waffles. After, I found the recipe I started measuring and pouring the ingredients into the bowl. I cracked the eggs one at a time and mixed them into the dry ingredients.

I went to the bottom cabinet pulling out the waffle iron. I plugged it into the socket, and waited for it to heat up. After five minutes I saw the red light come on and I took a small measuring cup scooping up some of the mix and poured it into the hot waffle iron.

"Jake! the waffles will be done in a few minutes." I yelled up the stairs.

I hear running footsteps coming down the stairs seeing Jake in his favorite dinosaur pjs. He jumps up on a stool planting his elbows on the counter watching me with his green eyes as he waits for his waffle.

I bring out the homemade maple syrup along with the Nutella spread. "Which one do you want?" I asked Jake

Jake pursed his lips thinking about it. "Can I have the maple syrup heated?"

I smiled, "Of course you can." I bring out another glass measuring cup pouring about a fourth of a cup into it. I placed it in the microwave for a few minutes until I knew it was hot. I took it out using a mitten so I would not get burned.

'BB, what are going to do now that mom has left us?" Jake asked, as he puts a mouth full of waffles in his mouth.

I shrugged my shoulders, not knowing what to say to him. It's not like I haven't already planned out a sincero where she left us. I have been planning on it since dad died. Thank God, I never told her about that money; otherwise, we really would be in a lot of trouble.

I turned towards Jake leaning my elbows on the table while placing my chin in my hands. "Jake, don't worry I have everything taken care of."

"What about Christmas?" Jake whined.

I laughed, "Shouldn't we get through birthdays, Halloween, Thanksgiving before we worry about Christmas."

Jake mumbled, "I guess."

I sighed as I walked around the counter, pulling Jake into my arms. "Don't worry about Christmas this year. Make your list and put it out for Santa. Hopefully, you will get everything on your list unless you were a bad boy this year."

I felt Jake nudge me with his elbow as he laughed. " I am always a good boy, BB"

I blew out my breath. "Let's get ready for bed because tomorrow I am taking you out of school. I will be homeschooling you until you graduate from high school."

"What! What about all my friends?" Jake screamed at me.

I bent down to his level, "Jake, it's either I home-school you, or we have child family services come in and take you away from me. Do you want to leave here?"

Jake bowed his head, mumbling under his breath, "No, I don't want to leave here."

I picked up my little brother and walked up the stairs to the second floor. I opened his bedroom door slowly, walking towards his bed. I gently placed him on it, laying him down on his back. I turn to leave, but he grabs my hand, asking me to stay with him for the night.

I gently take my hand away from him while I turn towards the door. "Let me go get into my PJs, and I will stay with you tonight since mom left us to fend for ourselves."

I walk to my bedroom, grab my PJs, and walk into my bathroom for a quick hot shower before going back to Jake's room to stay the night.

I pull on my T-shirt and fleece long pants, yawning as I walk back to Jake's room. I know tomorrow will be a stressful day for both of us. Thankfully, I had already graduated from High School when I was sixteen with college credits.

With the money our dad left us, we should be able to live comfortably for at least a year. When he died, the land and the house was paid off, leaving us with no debt.

I climbed into Jake's bed, pulling him close to me while stroking his back, trying to get him to sleep. He pulls my arm around his tiny body, wanting me to be closer.

Tears start to fall as I worry about our future. I already have enough credit to graduate from college next year with a BA in Business. Over the years, I have been drafting business contracts over the Internet, giving me some spending money this year.

My mother never knew about it otherwise she would have taken it from me. It has helped pay from some of the books I needed for the classes I took over this past year.

I will be eighteen by Halloween and until then I will have to be very smart about Family Services catching us withour a parent here. Like I told Jake I wll enroll him in home school and I will finish up my BA in Business then maybe I can open up a small store at the end of the road.

I hear Jake slowly breaths realizing he fell asleep. I close my eyes hoping that we will be able to make it without the government spliting us up since both parents are now gone

I know it will be tricky, but I know that God has a plan for me and Jake, and wanting us to be together. With a small smile, I whisper to Jake, "I love you little brother."
