El primer despliegue de campo de la teniente Tul, una oficial novata asignada al Departamento de Investigación Criminal, la puso inesperadamente cara a cara con la Dra. Che-rán, una médico del Instituto de Ciencias Forenses. Sus diferentes actitudes laborales crearon una brecha considerable entre ellas, lo que hizo que fuera un desafío para ambas encontrar puntos en común. En medio de la escena del crimen que reflejaban problemas sociales, la detective Tul también se enfrentó a las presiones de un sistema de trabajo que favorece a los grupos influyentes dentro del país navegando a través de la interferencia destinada a proteger a los aliados y las corrientes sociales que podrían influir significativamente en el resultado del caso. Al menos la integridad de Tul permaneció intacta en medio de estos desafíos cuando se une a Che-rán para analizar metódicamente la evidencia que queda en las escenas del crimen, lo que las acerca a la identificación de los perpetradores en cada caso.
