I Hate Summer Camp
Leewood, Michigan
I was at summer camp, and no one wanted to be my friend. The camp counselor was so mean. She treated me like trash. Her name was Jennifer, and her scowling at me was making me feel like a timid rabbit being stalked by its prey. "You cross my path, and you're getting a time out!" She sneered.
"I haven't done anything," I said.
"Did I give you permission to talk?" Jennifer snarled.
"No," I replied.
"Its time for arts and crafts, come on," she said. I followed her to the art room. All the kids glared at me like I was an intruder on private property. I drew a picture of a cat. Jennifer saw my drawing and ripped it up.
"You call that art?!" She snapped. "Its garbage!"
"I liked it!" I shot back.
"Silence! Draw something else!"
Fighting back tears, I drew myself getting wet on a rainy day. Jennifer liked it, over my cat drawing.
It was now time for lunch. I went to the cafeteria. On the menu was tuna sandwiches, minestrone soup, and a carton of chocolate milk. I got my lunch tray, and sat down all by myself.
I didn't fit in here. I was just a lonely, sad girl that was in for a rough summer.
I wanted to go home.
