Chapter 1: Hearing His Parents Arguing Early in the Morning

In the tranquil town of Canton, the first rays of sun painted the sky at 5:00 AM, casting a soft glow on Eric Masefield as he awoke in his cozy bedroom. Amidst the peace of the early morning, he overheard the hushed tones of his parents, Caroline and Henry Masefield, engaged in an argument. Eric, a towering 6'4'' young man of eighteen with short brown hair and captivating hazel eyes, was the eldest sibling among five children. His siblings included his 3-year-old identical twins Tyler and Jana, his playful 6-year-old brother Drake, and his thoughtful 9-year-old sister Lacey. Caroline, a caring and kind-hearted librarian of 47, stood at 5'7'' with cascading blonde hair and piercing azure blue eyes. Henry, aged 45, with a height of 5'8'' possessed warm hazel eyes and short brown tresses. The vibrant household was further enriched by three vigilant watchdogs - Sasha, the elegant German Shepherd, Blaze, the sturdy Alaskan Malamute, and Ace, the friendly Golden Retriever. Complementing their watchful protectors were a delightful array of house pets including Max, the charming Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Scarlet, the elegant Calico Cat, and the two adorable Guinea Pigs Bella and Macy. Adding a touch of melody to their home was Blake, the lively male Parakeet.

Eric could still hear the echoes of his parents arguing, their voices carrying tension and frustration. Clueless about the cause of their disagreement, he hesitated to approach them and inquire, fearing their potential anger towards him. With a determined spirit, he made the decision to lead his younger sisters and brothers to the family movie room. Slowly rising from his bed, he silently tip-toed out of his bedroom and entered the room shared by his identical twin siblings, Tyler and Jana. Waking them up gently, he instructed them to remain quiet. Taking their hands into his own, he guided them out of the bedroom. Jana clutched her Melissa & Doug Stuffed Animal Cat tightly in one arm as Eric led the way.

The group then ventured into Drake's bedroom where Eric gently stirred him awake. Eventually, Drake's groggy eyes fluttered open, revealing his siblings standing before him. With a hushed tone, Eric instructed Drake to join them quietly. Drake obediently rose from his bed and trailed after them as they proceeded to Lacey's bedroom. Inside, Eric repeated the process, this time rousing Lacey from her slumber. As Lacey's eyes adjusted to the light, she beheld her brothers and sister gathered in her room. Following Eric's lead, she too was asked to join them in silence. They could still hear their Parent's Arguing as Eric continued leading his four siblings down the second staircase, into the Family Movie room, it had a small Kitchenette that had a Fridge that was filled with all kinds of Soda Pop, Pepsi, Coke-Cola, RC Cola, A&W Root beer, and also Lemonade, and Black Diamond Tea, Small Storage Containers that have all kinds of Candy, Kit-Kat, Skittles, M&M's (the original and the Peanut ones), and all kinds of Candy, Beside the Kitchen Counter was a Standing Popcorn Maker.

Eric inserted the movie 'A Troll in Central Park' into the VCR nestled beneath the TV, housed in the Entertainment Center. Meanwhile, Tyler, Jana, Drake, and Lacey settled onto the couch, engrossed in the film.

As Eric's siblings were engrossed in the movie, he could hear the muffled voices of their parents bickering with each other. Determined to shift the focus away from the argument, Eric herded his siblings into the cozy family movie room. He excitedly put on a succession of their favorite cartoon movies for them to enjoy. After the whimsical adventure of 'A Troll in Central Park' came to an end, Eric seamlessly transitioned into more animated entertainment. This time, he carefully inserted the VHS of the beloved Ruby-Spears movie 'Scruffy' into the VCR, ready to transport his siblings into another world of colorful characters and captivating stories.,

Once the movie ended, he inserted the Hanna-Barbera VHS movie 'Black Beauty' into the VCR.

As the curtain fell on the first movie, Eric eagerly inserted another animated VHS film into the VCR: Walt Disney's enchanting 'The Prince and The Pauper' from the Mini Classics collection.

As the credits rolled on screen, Eric swiftly replaced the movie with another VHS tape, this time opting for the classic animated film 'The Rescuers Down Under'.

As the credits rolled on the previous movie, Eric eagerly slid a Cartoon VHS Movie titled 'We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story' into the VCR. The colorful characters and exciting plotline promised an entertaining evening ahead.

As Tyler, Jana, Drake, and Lacey were immersed in the movie, Eric could faintly hear the voices of their bickering parents fading into the distance, As Eric strolled away from his four younger siblings in the cozy family movie room, a sense of unease crept upon him. He made his way towards the source of the commotion, his parents' voices clashing in a heated exchange. His curiosity piqued; he pondered the subject of their disagreement.

As he strolled into the kitchen, a curious Eric glimpsed his dad lounging on the recliner in the living room, engrossed in the TV. Thoughts of their mother's whereabouts began to intrigue him. He made the decision to approach their father and inquire about the circumstances surrounding their mother's disappearance.

"Dad, can you tell me where Mom is?" Eric asked, looking intently at his father.

Unclear and uninterested, we found ourselves in a heated argument. She angrily collected her possessions and exited the scene.

Eric inquired, "Where did she disappear to?"

Henry responded with: 'She failed to disclose her intended destination.'

Eric was taken aback by his father's announcement concerning his mother's disappearance. However, he couldn't help but notice the absence of emotion in his father's behavior. It seemed as if his mother had vanished without a trace.

His parents, Caroline and Henry, were high school sweethearts who excelled in sports and music. Caroline was a star athlete, being the captain of the cheerleading squad, girls' basketball, volleyball, and rugby teams. She also showcased her talents in gymnastics and played the Alto Clarinet in the school's marching band. Henry, on the other hand, was a standout athlete as well, leading the boys' football, volleyball, basketball, and rugby teams. He also had a knack for gymnastics and played the trumpet in the marching band. They fell in love with each other, adorned in elegance at their High School Prom where they were crowned Prom King and Queen. Upon graduating from High School with High Honors, they pursued their academic dreams at Separate Colleges. Despite the distance, they maintained a strong connection through heartfelt emails and late-night phone calls. As their love continued to blossom, they had both graduated from different colleges and serendipitously reunited at their high school reunion. Venturing on dates, Henry surprised Caroline during their one-year anniversary by popping the question and asking for her hand in marriage. Overjoyed, she gladly accepted his proposal. A year later, they joyfully became husband and wife in a beautiful ceremony.

A year later, Caroline and her partner welcomed their first-born son, Eric, becoming elated parents. In the following years, identical twins Tyler and Jana made their grand entrance into the world, with Eric assuming the role of their protective big brother. Another year passed, bringing baby Drake into their ever-growing family. Then, just a year later, little Lacey completed their joyful household.

Now that Caroline was missing, Eric felt determined to uncover the truth about her disappearance. Apart from being an ace detective, he also held the prestigious titles of captain in the Boys Basketball, Football, Volleyball, and Rugby Teams. In addition to his athletic prowess, he showcased his musical talent playing the Clarinet in the High School Marching Band. To top it off, his leadership skills were recognized by his peers when he was elected Student Body President.

He adores his mom deeply. He fondly recalls his baby days when he would cry, and Caroline, with utmost care, would lift him into her warm embrace. She would settle into the rocking chair, tenderly swaying back and forth, humming his cherished lullaby, 'All the Pretty Little Ponies.' In her loving arms, he would gradually relax and drift off into peaceful slumber.

Eric was determined to locate his mom and retrieve her. He contacted every Rent-a-Car Rental Agency. To determine if Caroline had secured a rental car, traveled by train, flown on an airplane, or used the bus, investigate Train Stations, Airports, and Bus Terminals. He was disillusioned that his mom hadn't secured a car rental, opted for train travel, boarded an airplane, or utilized the bus, despite his expectations. Meanwhile, Eric harbored suspicions about his father's potential connection to his wife's disappearance. Henry and the children had their dinner around an hour prior, then spent some time watching TV and eventually went to sleep. On that peaceful night, Eric lay sound asleep in his cozy bed, immersed in a delightful dream where he was a carefree little baby. Suddenly, he stirred awake, tears streaming down his cheeks. To his surprise, he sensed footsteps drawing near. Through blurry eyes, he glimpsed his mother Carole gazing upon him with adoration as she hovered over his crib. With tender hands, she lifted him up, cradling him close to her heart. Nestled in her warm embrace, she settled into the rocking chair, gently swaying back and forth, all the while humming a sweet lullaby that filled the room with a soothing melody. Eric's face broke into a smile while he slept, but he remained determined to find his mother.

As night fell, the scene was set for an intense basketball game between the Canton C-Hawks and a fierce rival team. Eric, with three free throws in hand, positioned himself in front of the hoop. His teammates and opponents flanked him on either side of the court, creating an electric atmosphere. Suddenly, a distraction drew Eric's gaze. To his astonishment, he spotted his mother, Caroline Masefield, standing by the bleachers. A look of adoration adorned her face as she gazed lovingly at her son.

"Hey, Masefield, quit daydreaming," the Referee admonished, bringing Eric back to the present.

Three Free Throws were thrown by Eric consecutively, earning him additional points, yet he was taken by surprise when he noticed his mom Caroline was no longer present.
