What Happens When Your Heat Comes Early part 1
A few days ago so many thoughts were racing in my head; today, nothing except the clawing need in my stomach begging for a mate.
I had just turned 18, prime time for the first heat, but I knew mine wasn’t going to happen before the Bi-Annual Meeting of the Clans. Or at least thats what I thought.
About six months before the first heat or rut, there were signs it was going to happen. Females wolves showed signs of submissiveness and flirted with close male friends and male wolves got more aggressive and harder to wind down.
I had had no signs whatsoever and was glad I’d be able to skip at least one more meeting. Yet here I was, rolling around in my sheets, sweat beading my forehead as my body yearned for something that wasn’t there. There was nothing I could do, I didn’t have a partner for this hellish week.
Most young wolves found partners for their heats, if they were in a relationship then great but even singles got together. It was a force of nature so no one saw it as anything more than instinct, like eating or drinking.
Not me though, no one in the pack talked to me much let alone treated me as a prospective heat partner. I just had to ride out this wave.
I threw my head back with a moan as those thoughts of lonliness escaped my head. I ran my hands up my thighs and cupped my breasts, anything for a little relief. The next few days were going to be hard…
A few days later and my heat passed. I came downstairs to a large breakfast and my mother’s smiling face.
“Good morning Lilith!” she yelled excitedly as she ran in for a huge hug. I let her spin me around as I stood in her embrace, sluggish. My body was exhausted so I just stayed silent and hugged her back. She ushered me towards the island in the kitchen where a huge spread of all my favorites lie in wait.
I took a waffle slathered in butter and syrup, some strawberries and green grapes, and poured myself a glass of water with ice filled to the brim and sat down at the dining table. My father already stuffing his face gave me a smiled with too much bacon.
“Isn’t this food for me Dad?” I smiled. He just chuckled as he took a bite from a sausage link. I didn’t feel like I could keep any food down but I knew how important it was and tried anyways. Remarkably, I felt way better. I stayed at the table knowing my parents would want to speak to me.
“Oh honey, I’m so proud of you!” my mom started. She came over and smelled me.
“You smell like spiced cinnamon and pomegranates now” I rolled my eyes. My dad noticed and quirked an eyebrow.
“It’s just…. frustrating is all. I had to go through my first heat alone because no one likes me here. I’ve got dark skin from the desert and red eyes from the devil and now I smell red too?” I huffed and slouched in my chair a bit. I was acting a bit childish but deep down I was really hurt.
“Lilith, don’t speak of yourself that way.” my mom looked so sad now.
“She’s right, you should be proud of your heritage. We came here to escape the decimation of our clan, they live on in us. I understand coming from the desert we’re a lot darker than them but they’ve graciously accepted us, even if they’re a bit distant.”
I slammed my hands down at that comment, a tear rolling down my face without permission.
“Maybe thats how you feel they treat you because you’re darker, but I have these god awful red eyes. They accept you two but they scorn me. They think I was born of the devil!” They both had no words to that. In reality, they knew I had it harder than them in this clan.
Before I was born, a rival clan of unknown origins attacked them. They lived in the desert with meager resources so it made no sense but it was a complete bloodbath. My parents were the only two to escape. They went as far as they could until my pregnant mother couldn’t go any farther and gave birth in the nearest clan. We stayed here and while it was true they were a bit standoffish due to the differences in skin tone, hair, and culture, they accepted us. But I was looked down upon and gossiped about by the adults and bullied by the other kids.
All because of these eyes. Deep crimson with gold flecks floating in my iris. Kids joke that I’m related to vampires but the adults say I’m the devil incarnate in their hushed whispers. It didn’t take long for kids to pick on me and blame me for any mischief they caused as the adults always believed them, of course the devil’s child was in the wrong at all times.
My parents knew this but didn’t understand it. They stayed silent and I just got up from the table to take a well deserved shower and let all my worries wash away for awhile.
