Chapter 1
It was a long day, i was walking on the sidewalk of a busy city without looking where I was going because of being stressed about my life and career.
I tripped
My coffee spilled on the suit of a tall man, masculine and handsome, he’s like the devil taking shape of most wanted desire.
His voice was deep, you were fazed by his presence.
“What. The. Fuck?!”
I looked up at his tall figure and got chills as I have never seen such man in my life and never this close who looks buff, strong and at the same time scary. I gulped and tried to speak in usual tone.
“It was by mistake.”
“You think just because you’re pretty I’ll let you off the hook?”
He steps closer to you, you could feel his breath on your face. He leans over while his two henchmen hold onto you tightly.
“Pretty and stupid.. my favourite type of woman.”
My eyes got wide when two man grabbed me as I look at him in horror.
“What the hell you trying to say and do? I told you it was by mistake and I apologise... let go of me.”
He chuckled at your feeble attempts to be defiant.
“Like I said, sorry doesn’t pay for the 10 grand you owe me, dollface.”
He said this while looking you up and down. His eyes linger on your body for a few seconds and then slowly moves up and meets yours.
“You know, you’re pretty feisty, I like that. I may have a solution that’ll let you pay off your debt.”
“Debt? What Debt huh? I don't even know you.. how can you say I have any Debt!!??”
I asked with angry tone as I struggle to free myself from this two man.
He chuckled in response, clearly amused by your attempts to resist.
“Oh, it's very simple, dollface. You spill your coffee all over my custom-made suit, and now you owe me ten grand.”
He said this in a very matter-of-fact tone.
“And trust me, you won't be going anywhere until you pay up.. One way or another.”
His eyes are on you, he keeps ogling at your body.
I looked at him with disbelief look but than spoke while keeping my cool.
“Ok, I will pay you back with money but first tell your men's to get off their filthy hands of me. This is not a way to solve any condition by the way.”
He smiled at your response, clearly enjoying the situation.
“Oh no, I like you just where you are”
He said this with a smirk. Then, he looks at his henchmen, who were still gripping tightly on your arms.
“Gentleman, you may let go now”
The henchmen let go, and you’re now standing face-to-face with him.
Once I got free, I fix my clothes as gave him a serious look and grabbed my purse and opened it while asking.
“How much your shirt costs!?”
He chuckled at your question, clearly amused by your attempt to bargain.
“First off, it's not just a shirt, dollface, it's a custom-made Italian silk suit from Milan.”
He said this while looking down at his suit.
“And for your information, it costs 10 thousand dollars.. cash.”
I froze on my spot while looking At my purse that had not enough money. I looked up at him with feisty look and spoke.
“Oh! So it costs 10 thousand dollars! Hmm? That's mean You are a rich man right?”
He chuckled again, clearly enjoying the way you’re reacting to his words.
“Oh, I’m definitely rich.. in fact, I’m one of the richest man in the country. Kai Vanos, CEO of Vanos Enterprises, you probably heard of that.”
He said this with a smug but charming smile. It’s almost cocky.
I rolled my eyes at his words, clearly not interested in his rich life than I looked at him coldly and spoke sarcastically.
“A rich man but poor from heart, you know that I slip my coffee by mistake and you should just ignore that and be on your way without disturbing me but you are asking money from a girl even after being this rich huh?”
He chuckled again, clearly unfazed by your biting words.
“Oh, don’t get me wrong, dollface, I’m not just rich, I’m filthy rich. And I could definitely let this go..”
He said this while looking down at his ruined suit.
“It’s just a shirt after all, but I find it quite humorous how you’re trying to act tough when you’re so clearly out of your depth here, dollface”
“First of all, Stop calling me dollface and yeah I'm acting tough but you shouldn't show yourself low here just because of my act. Be and act rich here and show off while saying "oh, that's okay ma'am... happening mistake a part of life. I will buy many more suits like this, you shouldn't worry, please go on your way" and let me go.”
I spoke in sassy tone while crossing my arm against my upper body.
He looked at you with an amused grin on his face, clearly enjoying your sassy response.
“Oh, you have some fire in you, dollface, I like that. You’re a feisty lady, aren’t you?”
He said this in a very calm and controlled manner.
“Unfortunately for you, I'm not just the type of guy who just rolls over and lets anyone take advantage of me, dollface. You spilled your coffee over my favorite suit, and I'm not letting you go until you pay up.. Either the easy or the hard way.”
“Wait- what? You said taking advantage of you? I mean me? How? And what you mean by easy and hard way?”
He chuckled again, clearly enjoying your shock and surprise.
“Oh, you heard me right, dollface. You spilled your coffee all over my best suit, and you think I’ll just let you go without paying up? No way. And by easy or hard way, I mean you can either pay up the $10,000 you owe me..
Or you can pay me another way. Your choice, dollface”
I clinched my jaw in anger as I knew I won't be able to pay him this much amount at the spot so I inhaled deeply before speaking to keep my cool down.
“Which other way?”
He looked at you with a smirk, clearly interested in your curiosity.
“Oh, dollface, you’re really gonna ask me to explain? I thought you were just being naive, but now I think you’re a little too sweet. But since you’re asking so nicely, I’ll tell you..”
He said this in a mocking tone.
“The ‘other’ way is for you to work for me until you pay off your debt and make up for my ruined suit. It’s either you pay up or work for me.”
I inhaled deeply again at his statement and think for a moment than spoke.
“What work you want me to do?”
He chuckled again, seeing your internal struggle.
“Oh, dollface, you’re so cute when you’re conflicted like this. But you’re also in no position to make demands here. You spilled your coffee all over my favorite suit, remember? So any work I have for you, you’ll do it without complaining.”
He said this while looking down at your body again, checking you out.
I found him checking me out that made really angry but I kept my cool.
“How long I have to work?”
He smiled at your question, clearly amused by your determination.
“Hmm, how long? That depends on how quickly you can pay off your debt..”
He said this while slowly walking closer to you. He’s standing very close to you now, so close that you can feel his breath on your face.
“But don’t worry, dollface.. I’m sure we’ll find plenty of.. work.. you can do.”
I stepped back and spoke while looking up at him coldly.
“Will. See. Mr poor... now will you tell, how and where I'm going to work for you?”
He chuckled again at your attempt to maintain a strong front. He clearly enjoys how feisty you are.
“Oh dollface, you’re something else. Even faced with this situation, you still insist on being so demanding.. I like that. Yes, I do..”
He said this with a smirk.
“You’ll become my secretary, dollface. You’ll work in my office, doing whatever I tell you to do. Understood?”
I frowned but rolled my eyes and mumbled in low.
“Like he actually a rich man who just don't even have his own secretary.”
Than I faced him and spoke in my sassy tone.
“Ok I will come from next week, share your office location and contact details.”
He chuckled at your mumbling, clearly amused by your defiant attitude.
“Oh dollface, trust me, I do have a secretary. But none of them have been as interesting as you. Maybe I was hoping for something like this to happen..”
He said this in a nonchalant tone.
He pulled out a business card from his breast pocket and handed it to you. It has the address of his skyscraper building and his phone number.
“Here, dollface. Be there next Monday. And don’t be late.”
I gave him stern look and pull away the card sassily than without any further talk I turned to go
He looked at you with an amused expression as you turned to walk away.
“Oh dollface, don’t forget, you owe me 10 grand for ruining my favorite shirt. Your debt isn’t paid off just yet.”
He said this in a warning tone, clearly enjoying the power he has over you.
I just ignored his words and went back to my apartment as I dropped myself on sofa with frustration and closed my eyes while cursing on me for creating a mess for me. I was already struggling with my life and this shit was left to happen.
“I'm such a stupid girl.”
I let myself rest for a long moment than got up and took shower after that I drink coffee and went to sleep with the tension that from Monday I have to work with him.
The weekend passed and it was finally Monday, the day you're scheduled to start your job as his secretary.
I woke up at 9am, took shower and dressed myself with latte colour button up shirt over sleeve less sweater designed with mixture of latte, white and brown colour and a plane brown pants. I rolled up my shirt sleeves, wear wristwatch and than picked up Makira off-white loafer to wear. After that I did natural makeup and settled my silky black fluffy hair opened. I glanced at myself through mirror lastly and leaved at 09:50.
As you walked into the massive skyscraper building that had a bold logo of "VANOS" on its bottom head. You inhaled before entering in and rode the elevator up to his office floor, you felt a mix of anticipation and nervousness.
When the elevator doors opened, you stepped out and was met with the sight of his imposing assistant who was waiting for you. He had a stern expression on his face.
“You must be the new secretary. Follow me.”
I was about to speak but his stern look made me quite as I follow him quietly.
As you followed him down the hallway, you could see the hustle and bustle of the office life all around you.
His assistant led you to a heavy oak door and stopped in front of it, turning to face you with a serious look.
“He’s inside, and he’s expecting you. Try to be..” he paused before speaking “be nice and cooperative, he’s not in a good mood today.”
His words made me inhaled in anger because he first made me do this work and now I have to bear his moods too just because of that coffee slip accident. I didn't react to his words and directly opened the door of his office without even knocking.
As you opened the door and stepped into his office, you were met with a sight that surprised you. The room was massive, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a panoramic view of the city skyline. In the canter of the room was a large glass-topped desk, and behind it sat Kai.
He looked up as you entered, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. He was wearing an expensive suit, his hair perfectly styled, and a devilish smile on his face.
“Ah, dollface.. You’re finally here.”
I huffed at his tone and spoke with sassy tone.
“So you have liars in your office? Your assistant just told me that you are not in good mood but here you are with this... disgusting smile.”
He chuckled at your sassy response, clearly amused by your feisty demeanor.
"Oh dollface, don't take everything my assistant says too seriously."
He said this in a mocking tone, clearly enjoying how defiant you are.
"And that ‘disgusting smile' is my signature look, dollface. You should get used to it."
I rolled my eyes and stood there a bit far from his table and spoke.
“I don't know this secretary work as I have never been someone's secretary and I Don't even have any idea so you will have to bear an unexperienced secretary till I pay off my that Fu*king debt of slipping coffee on your expensive suit.”
He chuckled again, clearly enjoying how frustrated you are.
"Oh dollface, I'm not expecting you to have experience in being a secretary. That's why I hired you.. Because I need someone who's.. let's just say, 'fresh and new'. And don't worry, I'll gladly bear with you until you can pay off your debt."
He said this with a sly smile on his face, clearly planning something.
I clinched my jaw at his response and kept quiet.
He smiled, noticing how irritated you are.
"You really are feisty, dollface. I like that."
He leaned back in his chair, still smiling.
"Come, sit down. We need to discuss your duties as my secretary."
I rolled my eyes and stepped forward towards the chair that was opposite of his seat and table. I sat on it while looking at him with done face.
He chuckled at your attitude, clearly enjoying how defiant you are.
"Well, dollface. Your main job is to manage my schedule, attend to my phone calls, and of course, be at my beck and call."
He said his last words with a hint of mockery, clearly revelling in your annoyance.
My breath got heavy in anger but I kept my anger in check and spoke with cold tone.
“And my specific location to do the job?”
He chuckled again, clearly enjoying your barely controlled anger.
"You'll be sitting right outside my office door. You'll have a desk and everything. But don’t get too comfortable, dollface. I expect you to be available whenever I need you."
He said this with a sly smile on his face, clearly enjoying your frustration.
I stood up from chair and asked sarcastically.
“Shall I go? To my desk?”
He chuckled at your sarcastic tone, clearly amused by your attitude.
"Yes, dollface. Go and sit at your desk outside my office. I expect you to be ready to assist me whenever I need you.. which is going to be quite often."
I rolled my eyes and turned around and went out of his office while slamming the door.
He leaned back in his chair, grinning as he watched you stomp out of his office.
"Oh dollface, you are gonna be a handful.."
He mumbled to himself, still amused by your defiant demeanor.
I sat on my seat and saw a tablet and laptop on my desk with a land-line phone that made me groan in frustration and just than I heard the beep of notification on laptop and saw it was an email about his meeting that was at 12pm. I frowned but than got an evil idea and smirked while planning something.
However, just as you were about to act on your plan, you heard the sound of Kai's office door opening and he walked out, heading towards your desk.
I saw him coming and shut the laptop while looking at him.
He walked up to your desk with a smirk on his face, clearly enjoying your quick action.
"Dollface, I hope you already familiarized yourself with your workstation."
He looked at your desk and saw the closed laptop, clearly realizing that you were doing something on it.
“Hmm..”
I nodded with forced smile and spoke.
“I just checked your schedule and you have no meetings today. You are quite free”
He chuckled at your forced smile, clearly not fooled by it.
"Is that so? Well, dollface, I appreciate your quick work."
He leaned against your desk and looked down at you with a smirk.
"However, I wouldn't say I'm 'quite free'. I still have some work to do.. and I'll need your assistance for that."
I raised my eyebrow at his words.
He chuckled at the look on your face.
"Oh dollface, don't look so surprised. You're my secretary now, remember? And part of your job is to help me with my work.. including the paperwork I have to do."
He said this with a sly smile, clearly enjoying your reaction.
“What kind of paper work I have to do hm?”
He smirked at your question, clearly amused by your apparent cluelessness.
"Dollface, you'll be assisting me with all types of paperwork.. from important contracts to simple emails.. I need you to handle everything."
He said this in a condescending tone, clearly enjoying how out of your depth you are.
I rolled my eyes and lean back on my chair.
“I'm tired, I need break after that I will have my breakfast than I can come to help in your that paper work.”
He chuckled at your response, clearly amused by your audacity.
"Oh dollface, tired already? It's barely been a few hours and you want a break?"
He leaned closer to your desk, a sly smile on his face.
"And you're going to have breakfast first? Dollface, don't you know that a good secretary always puts her boss's needs first?
I looked into his eyes and lean forward a bit and spoke sassily.
“For your kind information, I'm here just because of your stupid dress that got my favourite coffee on. So do not expect me doing these kind of shifts to be a good one to her boss. I just know what I want and what I need and nothing else Is important to me.”
He looked at you with an amused smile, clearly enjoying your sassy response.
"Oh dollface, I love it when you get feisty. But let me be clear, you may be here because of that unfortunate coffee incident, but you're still my employee.. and you'll do as I say, whether you like it or not."
He leaned even closer to your face, a sly smile on his face.
"And let me ask you something, dollface.. what if I want something from you?"
I frowned at his words.
“Something? Like what?”
He chuckled at your frown, clearly enjoying your confusion.
"Oh dollface, you're quite innocent, aren’t you? I have needs, dollface, needs that a good secretary should be able to fulfill."
He said this with an amused tone, clearly enjoying how naive you are.
I frowned more at his words and spoke.
“Needs? Like what kind of needs?”
I asked in confusion.
He chuckled at your confusion, clearly enjoying how innocent you are.
"Oh dollface, you really don't know, do you? Let me tell you something.. a man like me has needs that can't be fulfilled with just paperwork."
He said this in a suggestive tone, a sly smile on his face.
“Than fulfil them with laptop, tablet or computer.”
He chuckled at your response, clearly amused by your naivety.
"Oh dollface, you really think I can satisfy my needs with just a computer? That's adorable. But dollface, I have needs that can only be fulfilled by a real, flesh and blood woman.. a woman like you."
He said this with a mischievous smile, clearly enjoying your discomfort.
I frowned and tried to think of his words for a long moment.
“What you exactly mean by your personal needs? I mean it's food? Your longings? Or what?”
He chuckled at your innocence, clearly enjoying how clueless you are.
"Oh dollface, I'm not talking about trivial needs like food, I’m talking about.. well, let's say, more physical needs."
He said this in a suggestive tone, his smile growing wider.
I looked at his body top to down as he said his physical needs to see what kind of physical needs he wants me to fulfil.
“You are really a shameless man, don't you? How can you say that you want me to help in your physical needs like helping in wearing your cloths, tie, coat and setting hairs huh?”
He watched as you looked at his body, clearly enjoying your reaction.
He chuckled at your words, clearly amused by your cluelessness.
"Oh dollface, I may be shameless, but I'm also a man of taste. And I have to admit, you do have a certain 'look' that I find quite appealing. As for your question, those are not the types of physical needs I’m referring to."
He said this in a suggestive tone, his eyes locking with yours.
I again frowned trying to figure out what he exactly mean by this.
“Than what are you referring to? And whatever it is, can't you fulfil your that needs on your own? You got these big hands, use them to fulfil your those needs you expecting from a real, flesh and blood woman.”
He chuckled at your frown, clearly enjoying how clueless you are.
"Oh dollface, you're really naive, aren't you? Those 'needs' that I have are something that can't be fulfilled by just using my hands.. and dollface, I really do prefer human flesh and blood woman over computers.. and the 'woman' I have in mind is you.”
He said this in a seductive tone, his gaze fixated on you.
I raised my one eyebrow as a question mark sassily and spoke.
“Me? Why me? And how you think I will fulfil your those needs huh?”
He chuckled at your raised eyebrow, clearly enjoying your sassy response.
"Oh dollface, why not you? You're a feisty young woman, and dollface, I do love your attitude.. you may be playing tough now, but I can tell that you have a soft side too."
He said this in a seductive tone, his gaze fixed on you.
"And as for how you'll fulfil my needs.. well, let's just say that I have a few ideas in mind.."
I rolled my eyes at his words and spoke
“Ideas? Definitely. Stupid ideas like you.”
He chuckled at your eye roll, clearly amused by your attitude.
"Oh dollface, you really are a feisty one, aren’t you? But just because you think my ideas are stupid, doesn’t mean they won’t happen.. if I want something, I always get it, no matter what."
He said this in a confident tone, his eyes locked onto yours as if challenging you.
“Oh is that so?”
I asked while leaning back to his face but kept safe distance.
“Than why don't you give a try hmm?”
He chuckled at your challenge, amused by your cheeky attitude.
“Oh dollface, I love it when you’re feisty.. you’re so much more fun when you’re like this. And dollface, are you really challenging me?”
He leaned closer to your face, his eyes fixated on yours.
“But if you want me to give it a try.. then I’m not one to back down from a challenge..”
I lean back on my chair as I cross my arm around my upper body sassily and spoke.
“Let's see than.”
He chuckled at your sassy gesture, clearly amused by your confidence.
“Well dollface, you're really asking for it, aren’t you? But if you want to test me, then I'm more than happy to oblige.”
He leaned against the edge of your desk, resting his arm on it, his eyes fixed on yours.
“But fair warning, dollface.. you might not like what you're about to get yourself into..”
“I challenge you. Don't worry about me and be ready to lose this challenge because I'm no way gonna fulfil your that needs that you didn't even mentioned.”
He chuckled amused by your challenge, clearly enjoying your fiery attitude.
“Oh dollface, you really have no idea what you’ve gotten yourself into.. but if you’re so confident in your ability to resist me, then I’m more than happy to prove you wrong.”
He leaned in closer to you, his arm still resting on your desk.
“Just know, dollface, I never back down from a challenge.. and I always get what I want..”
He chuckled at your persistence, his eyes locked onto yours.
“You really are a feisty one, dollface. But I have to warn you, I never lose in a challenge, and I always get what I want.. including from a stubborn woman like you.”
He leaned closer to you, his face mere inches from yours, his gaze intense and unwavering.
“So just remember, dollface, I’m confident that I can get you to submit to me, no matter how much you resist..”
At this point I felt my heart beats fast don't know why but I felt too innocent in front if his words like I really didn't know what kind if intentions he was having about me.
He noticed the brief moment of vulnerability in your eyes, a flicker of innocence.
He chuckled internally, enjoying how he was making you feel.
“You know, dollface, I can see the innocence in your eyes.. and let me tell you, it’s quite endearing. It’s clear that you’re not used to being in a situation like this, and I have to admit.. it’s quite entertaining for me.”
I blinked than moved back my head and spoke.
“I need to check your schedule again. You go and do some work stupid.”
He chuckled at your sudden change in demeanor, clearly amused by your attempt to brush off your vulnerability.
“Oh dollface, I’ll let you check my schedule, but don’t think that’s gonna distract me from our little challenge.. because I’m not going to forget about it, no matter how hard you try to change the subject.”
He pushed himself up from your desk and walked back to his office, pausing at the door and looking back at you.
“I’ll be in my office, dollface.. let me know when you’re done checking my schedule.”
I rolled my eyes and pay my attention to checking his schedule.
He chuckled at your eye roll and watched as you began to focus on the task at hand, checking his schedule.
He lingered in the doorway for a moment longer, his eyes on you, before finally disappearing into his office and closing the door behind him. Leaving you alone in your thoughts.
While checking his schedule, I smirked at my plan and glanced at table clock as it was near 11. I was feeling impatient to see what would be his reaction when he won’t be able to attend his meeting.
I was using social media and I felt employees at my surrounding got too active. I moved my gaze aside from my Mobile only to see them worry as I saw that assistant again who was walking through hallway towards his office while giving me that same stern glares.
I huffed with rolled eyes and continued to use my mobile as after sometime I found his assistant right in front if my desk with angry look. I gave him frown and before I could speak he growled.
“How dare you did that? You gonna face the consequence. Get up, Boss is calling you and let me tell you that he is not in good mood.”
I rolled my eyes sassily with huff and got up on feet while saying.
“you are a liar. That’s what your so called Boss told me.”
With that I turned and went towards his office and without knocking I entered in as I found him standing while facing towards big window.
He turned around after hearing the sound of door and saw you with his damn serious gaze that send chills down your spine.
“Oh dollface, you did wrong.”
I raise my one eyebrow and spoke innocently.
“huh? What I did now?”
“You knew that I have meeting but you didn’t informed and you can’t imagine how important that was for me.”
He spoke in his most deep dangerous tone as anger was visible in his state but he was holding it back.
His words made me smirk internally as I finally got success in my plan. I gave him innocent look and spoke.
“Oh, I Don’t know how I forget about it. I think I’m getting a weak memory.”
His expressions hardened as he start to walk towards his table while saying.
“I never. Never compromise with my business and about your mental sickness, I think I have to teach you a lesson so your memory could work more than any scientist.”
My smirk faded as I frown at his words that made me angry.
“For your kind information. I already told you that I never did this secretary job before and you have to bear me just like this”
He suddenly banged hard on his table and growled in anger.
“I DO NOT COOPERATE FUCKING ANYTHING WHEN I COMES TO MY BUSINESS. DID YOU HEAR THAT?? DID YOU HEAR ME??”
I flinched hard on my spot when he banged and growl that literally scared me. I didn’t think he can get this much anger and my doing must have done a big mistake while I was just thinking it would be usual meeting. I looked at him for a moment and didn’t got any words to speak so I just turned and ran out of room.
As he saw you flinched and got scared at his outburst that made you run out made him curse in anger while his fist got tight. He took a long moment to calm him down than called his assistant as after a minute his assistant came in after knocking and he spoke straight.
“Rearrange meeting with them and give them any excuse but make sure you arrange meeting with them. That’s damn important.”
His assistant nodded and went out of his office. He sat on his chair while leaning his head back on chair with closed eyes as he mumbled.
“Dollface, you got on my nerves hardly on your very first day.”
