Mom Mysteriously Went Missing

Greetings, I am Sarah Crane, a 17-year-old with a height of 5'7, adorned with blonde hair and captivating blue eyes. In this narrative, I will delve into the mysterious disappearance of my beloved mother, Kathy Crane. Kathy, aged 44, stands tall at 5'8 with shoulder-length wavy blonde hair and captivating blue eyes. Known affectionately as Kat, she is married to her high school sweetheart, Peter Crane. Our family consists of my 3-year-old toddler brother, Ryan Crane, a sprightly 6-year-old sister named Emily Crane, and a 9-year-old brother named Luke Crane. Residing in a tranquil abode in a tree-lined, shaded, gated neighborhood in Canton, our esteemed father holds the prestigious position of being the Head of the Co-op Company. Conversely, my mother fulfills the honorable role of a dedicated librarian at the Canton Public Library. Her altruism, warmth, and benevolence have touched the hearts of all who know her. Enrolled in Canton High School, my siblings also attend the local Canton Elementary School. I proudly lead the girls' High School Basketball, Volleyball, and Rugby teams, in addition to commanding the Cheerleading Squad. Proficient in gymnastics, I also grace the High School Marching Band with my skills on the French Horn. It was on a radiant, sunlit day that I cruised down the street on my 10-speed bicycle, clad in protective gear - a bicycle helmet, elbow, and knee pads. Returning from a rigorous Basketball Practice, little did I know the suspenseful events awaiting me upon my arrival home.

An hour later, I arrived at the house and carefully stowed my 10-speed bicycle in the inviting embrace of the garage. To my surprise, the garage door stood ajar, a silent invitation to the elements. It was then that I noticed the conspicuous absence of Mom's sleek blue 4-door Mazda Touring. My mother, constantly vigilant about security, would typically have her car as well as the family's trusty blue Chrysler minivan snugly sheltered within the garage. Recently, Mom had been experiencing a series of peculiar dreams. They all had a common theme - a forewarning of some impending event. In her dream, she saw a premonition of danger looming over her. In response, I removed my Bicycle Helmet, Elbow and knee pads, and cautiously navigated through the corridors of our home.

I eagerly called out for Mom as I walked through the door, excited to share that I had made it home. However, no response came. I began a thorough search of the house, calling out her name in increasing concern. That's when I realized her purse, billfold wallet, and smartphone were missing from their usual spot on the table of the China cabinet. I found it peculiar that Mom never ventured out without leaving behind a note detailing her whereabouts. This routine seemed strange until the moment I laid eyes on my brother Luke ascending the stairs that led to our household's movie room.

I inquired of my brother, "Luke, where are Emily and Ryan?" as I gazed at him intently.

Luke explained, "I've set up a cozy movie night for them in the Family Movie room, complete with a classic VHS Animated Movie 'Scamper the Penguin' playing in the VCR."

I inquired, "Have they informed you about Mom's whereabouts?"

Luke shook his head, his brows furrowed in confusion. 'No, I haven't seen her,' he replied. 'I came home to find Ryan and Emily alone in the house. They remained tight-lipped, not offering any clues about Mom's whereabouts.'

Growing anxiety gripped me as I pondered my mother's well-being. Her ominous foreboding about her nightmares materializing had now become a haunting reality as she had vanished without a trace. An hour passed before Dad finally arrived back at home. I chose not to disclose to him the mysterious disappearance of Mom. We proceeded to have dinner, indulged in some television, then retired to bed; all except Dad, who remained awake, consumed by concern for his missing wife. However, he knew the authorities would advise him to wait 24 hours before filing a missing person's report, as there was a chance they might perceive Mom's departure as voluntary, expecting her eventual return.

As the sun rose, I was jolted awake by the piercing beams of a police car's flashing lights seeping through my bedroom window. Hastily slipping into my house-socks and house-shoes, I crept out of my room, past the dozing forms of Ryan, Emily, and Luke. Descending the staircase cautiously, I paused midway as I caught sight of Dad engrossed in conversation with a police officer at the open front door. Speaking to a police officer, he anxiously reported his mother's absence, providing a vivid description of her appearance before she vanished. An hour passed with no clues unraveling the mystery of Mom's disappearance. Police officers converged at their residence, suspecting a possible abduction where she was compelled to leave against her wishes. In preparation for a potential call from the kidnapper demanding ransom, they had the telephone wired. Dad then decided to send Ryan, Emily, Luke, and me to our grandparents' house for a week. My heart pounded in fear and worry for Mom. I feared she had fallen into the clutches of someone malicious, enduring unspeakable horrors of rape or sexual assault. As Dad remained at the house, he went so far as to make a heartfelt televised plea on the news, urging Mom's Kidnapper to refrain from causing harm and to release her unharmed.
