Chapter 1

It all started the day I ran into her.

It was a sunny Tuesday afternoon, and I’d just gone on my lunch break at the office I worked at five minutes before. I was waiting in line to order mine and my friend Skylar’s coffee when she ran straight into me. At the time I didn’t notice her appearance, I was too focused on the fact that she’d just spilt hot coffee down the front of my best, and only, white shirt.

“You should really watch where your going, you know.” She told me, as of I was the one who’d ran into her.

“Umm…yeah I guess I better had?” I replied, being the people pleaser I am, I didn’t correct her by saying it was the other way around. In truth, after that day I never thought about it again, I didn’t find it weird that she looked almost exactly like me, I simply find it annoying that she’d ran into me, spilling coffee on me in the process of doing so. Looking back on it, I didn’t even note the fact that she smelled of magic. And later, when I brought Skylar her coffee we’d even laughed about it and how inconvenient it was. And I wasn’t that annoyed about my shirt anymore, yes it was a pain, and yes it had most likely stained, but at least it didn’t look too bad.

The day that I met her was the day my life slowly, oh so slowly, started to fall apart.

I’m Irene Sinclair; and now, any slight inconvenience in my life, I blame her. Because, technically, it’s all her fault to begin with.

Slowly my life falls apart, I’d feel better if it had happened in one hit. And the worst thing is it’s my fault, not hers, no matter how much I blame it on her, it’s all my fault…
