Summary

In the nascent Chaos of the world of Kaos, the barren void welcomed the soul from another realm. As the first soul in the world of Kaos, Lane automatically became the God of Spirituality. However, divine power comes from divine might, and spirituality alone is insignificant, so the newly born Lane was extremely weak. Unable to rely on anything else, Lane had no choice but to rely on his own efforts to avoid being overwhelmed by the currents of fate. He carved out realms and gave birth to beings unique to spirituality. He created a hierarchy of divinity and spread the path to godhood. He wove magical webs to encompass the sky, the sea, and the land. When the bell of twilight rang, I raised my divine throne and proclaimed to all beings from the peak of the spiritual realm: "There are two aspects of the world: the material and the spiritual. The material belongs to the gods, while the spiritual belongs to me. This is the truth of all things."

Spirit of Spirituality

After a while, as if recovering its strength, the world’s laws became active again. This time, the world of Kaos gave birth to two ancient gods and a new celestial body. After thousands of years, Lane saw the sun in the sky once more.

Looking up, the new celestial body radiated light and heat, causing the world’s essence to rise immediately. Hyperion, the original sun!

Theia, the mother of light and goddess of sight!

As the world’s essence rose, although Lane was only an insignificant deity of spirituality, his power also increased. The special “Spirituality” divine authority had its benefits—while he did not bear the blame for the world’s decline, he could enjoy the benefits when the world grew stronger.

According to Lane’s own grading system, this increase might have raised his divine power level from 2 to 3. If he could rise three more times, he could shed the “weak divine power” status and be promoted to “weak intermediate divine power” at level 6.

This grading system is not innate to the world of Kaos but was created by Lane. It helps him gauge the level of divine power among deities. For example, with the overall increase in the world, Pontus, who was teetering on divine power level 11, finally regained some strength and stabilized his power.

“Buzz—”

The humming sound returned. The world’s laws did not halt due to any single deity’s will, and the primordial sea roiled once more. Soon, the third instance of the laws’ disturbance announced the birth of three new gods.

In an instant, storms arose on the earth, and the sky was filled with many dark celestial bodies, marking the authority of the two new deities. The third deity followed the path of her older sister, Theia, taking some of the light from her and drawing power from the sun.

Coeus, the god of celestial bodies!

Crius, the god of meteorology!

Phoebe, the goddess of light!

The emergence of these three new gods caused the world’s essence to rise again, though not as significantly as with the appearance of the sun. However, even though his divine power did not increase, Lane still felt a new power growing within him.

This power had been present since the birth of the first Titan. With each new deity, it became more substantial. Now, it had finally become detectable.

“Very good!”

Seeing his expectations come true, even though this was the change he had longed for, Lane couldn’t help but smile. Fortunately, this was not the era of the third-generation King of Gods, Zeus. In this primitive age, he still had plenty of opportunities.

“I need to work hard to avoid being a weakling in future eras. Being looked down upon is one thing, but being noticed by Zeus is another.”

Shivering slightly, Lane’s resolve to grow stronger was further solidified as he thought about the future generations of gods, who would be of diverse genders and races. In this regard, Uranus was still quite trustworthy. Besides Gaia, he was not interested in anyone else, and his twelve children had inherited his excellent traits.

“Hmm?”

Although he was watching a grand spectacle, Lane suddenly recalled the past. Focusing his attention, he immediately sensed the source of the disturbance.

Two more new gods had been born, but their powers were inclined towards the mental realm, affecting Lane’s spirit due to the active laws.

Mnemosyne, the primordial goddess of memory, language, and primordial script, had not yet manifested her divine authority of memory, even though her name had spread through the laws to the world.

Iapetus, the god of souls and speech, similarly seemed to have his soul-related power disappear.

Lane noted that he would not take the blame for this, even though he was indeed responsible.

“Fortunately, it was not exposed earlier. If it had been, while Iapetus might have been manageable, Mnemosyne would probably have been hunted down by Gaia.”

Taking a deep breath, Lane felt immensely relieved about his previous actions.

The soul and spirituality are two sides of the same coin, having long become part of him. Memory is a subordinate aspect of the soul, and without his permission, no one could obtain the divine authority of memory.

If they were deities born from the world of Kaos itself, he would have either been torn apart like Pontus or become a subordinate deity to one of the new gods. But since his spirituality originated from his own creation, as the primordial deity of spirituality, the world could not do much to him—unless it directly killed him.

Killing the primordial deity would mean destroying the authority he represents, and spirituality would vanish from the world, ensuring no more souls would be born in Kaos.

Thus, only the instinctual Chaos ignored the divine authority of soul and memory, allowing the two new gods to be born.
