Writing Idea #1: Ascending

Ascending Blurb:

A holiday in New York is all that my parents believed I needed, I wasn’t a delinquent. No, the delinquents were at the school I left behind when returning to said school after two years of said holiday in New York.

His name...Theo Henderson. Well-built delinquent of six foot five.

His associates include Leo Scott, Sawyer Samual and Ryan Ford. And it was exactly two years ago when just one high school party changed the people I thought I knew. Cheryl Reed was one of my closest friends, before I left at least. When she started dating Sawyer, the change in her was prominent, she didn’t care for make-up before. She didn’t like short skirts. Showing her cleavage. And yet, here she was now. Ryan Ford was the next male to ruin the group I had as friends. Lillian Dane, his off and on again girlfriend. Lastly was Collette Simmons, Leo Scott collected her quite quickly.

Next was just me.

Only I wasn’t that kind of target for Theo.

No...not until I left did I see how he truly felt after what he’d done to me. Heartbroken.

CHAPTER 1:

They didn’t require a uniform, and that is what got me quite confused. It had only been two years, they use to be so strict with it and now, as I roam down the halls in jeans and a simple sweater, there was no checkered skirt, no high white knee socks, no black leather shoes, no blazer and most of all, no tie. So, of course—I was surprised. The place seemed dulled. Black and white for every student but them. They were colourful, standing by their lockers, all the girls on their phones. Theo was the tallest, the most well-known for his intense silver grey eyes, but his stance had changed from cocky and overconfident, to much like a man who doesn’t want to come to school anymore. It’s Sawyer who talks to him in a matter of hushed tones, broad hand gestures with tattoos on his fingers, silver rings too.

Cheryl wore a low cut shirt and a denim skirt, black nail polish and black eye shadow. Popping gum from her lips, she was scrolling through Instagram as I step silently through the crowd of students beginning to move through and open my own locker, which was closest to the exits, thank god. Some stain blue lockers had graffiti all over them, mine thankfully didn’t.

I only had a few mere text books in it and a mirror on the door. I close it when I hear sniggering, “Oh, look who it is?” I hear down the hallway, only it wasn’t directed to me. Head quarterback, Ace Swanson and next to him, captain of the football team, Xavier Sven steps down the hallway, scoffing at the sight of Theo.

Cheerleaders even stood beside them.

I never knew Ace to be such the open, confident person until I see Sawyer, tan and tall too, clench his fists at his sides. I raise an eyebrow as Xavier gives him a smirk, “Don’t waste your breath, Samual. The next time you land a punch means you’re expelled for good.” He says to him, rolling the football through his large hands as Cheryl glares at one of the cheerleaders.

“Why don’t you idiots go piss off people your own size? It’s obvious you’re all looked down here.” Collette spits at them, about to step forward, only it’s Leo that slides an arm around her waist and pulls her back against his leather jacket, he’d brown some muscle too after the past two years. Collette wasn’t as bright of a blonde as I was anymore, she was darker, with red highlights. Still five foot three with pale blue eyes that looked as though they had been sucked through hell. Cheryl jus looked readily aggressive as the cheerleaders I didn’t recognise surrounding Xavier, and Ace moved with a few other footballers I didn’t recognise.

I slide out my Art history textbook first as they slide past, not recognising me. In fact no one was really curious at all, I could act so closely to the way everyone else is, because the kind of rival I just saw looked about as attention-seeking and crowd-making this place could get. I stepped towards the stairs, remembering where most of my classes already were, when I heard Theo trying to tell Sawyer to calm down.

Opening my laptop in class, I freeze when a few students do glance my way, but it’s not because they recognise me...it’s because I’m the only one with a laptop that’s my own. Most of them are using their phones to research the ancient artists of the early nineteenth century for their latest reports, I got the assignment list last week when I got back to London.

Mom sends me a message just to check in and to not forget the Fashion opening night for her district I the city. My Dad worked in Computer engineering and Mom owned her own fashion label and I was modelling a few of her designs, especially one for tonight.

The reminder opens up through email, one of Mom’s manager’s reminding me of tonight’s importance, “You got a ticket to go?” I hear behind me. A girl with hair a natural velvet red gives me a smile as she sees it, her heels and fashion clothes showing me all that I needed to know when I see that her trench coat is one of Mom’s designs. The male next to her wearing a tuxedo and rolling his pen through slender fingers as he focuses on the teacher, a smouldering look in his eyes, mine almost widen at that.

The girl glances at him, “Yeah, he has the hots for the art teacher.” She whispers, leaning in as she points to my laptop.

“How did you get tickets? It’s Davina Millennial’s label and I absolutely adore her clothes. I’m Cassidy, by the way. This is a friend from this school’s infamous elite, Graham Knox. Heir to Knox Industries.” She says, grinning at him as he turns to me, before furrowing his eyebrows.

“Wait, I’ve seen you on an old poster here before? You looked far younger though.” He says, confused.

I smile, “I’m Scarlet. Lovely to meet you both. I use to attend here a couple years back. I’m just ending my senior year here whilst helping my Mom with business.” I say to them, catching a few students looking at them now.

Graham looks at me, “Scarlet what?” He asks me, shaking my hand.

“Scarlet Millennial, and I can get you both free tickets tonight if you want.”

Graham pales in shock.

Cassidy’s eyes widen, “Oh lord.”

Graham nods numbly, “My sentiments exactly.”

I had every class with Cassidy, only when we stepped out for lunch after using interval to go over the fact I was a Millennial, Cassidy slides her arm into mine, Graham nods to another set of males stepping towards us, both of them wearing similar tuxedos. Cassidy grins wide as the student body parts for all of them, “Did you all just come here or have you been here a while?” I ask her, almost confused.

She looks to me, “We’ve been here a year now. We can finally call this our last year though before we’re planning to travel a bit, have a gap year from working you know.” She says to me, guiding me towards the cafeteria, which did look tidied up a lot by the open cafe in the middle, to which looked more like a buffet.

“Oh, Scarlet, this is Terrence Freeman and Nolan Lance. They’re parents are great friends of Graham’s and myself. We all went to Blair Academy before coming here to St Luke’s.” She says to me.

I furrow my eyebrows, “Didn’t Blair Academy shut down? I heard about some tragic accident happening with that school just over a year ago.” I say, looking over to her. She leads me towards their table, that literally had the sign ′Reserved’on it. Nolan shakes my hand while Terrence nods strictly and unbuttons his blazer as he gestures to two waiters that step on over.

A menu is handed to me.

I still in shock, “This is very new.”

“Why are you wearing that? It’s not one of your Mom’ designs, is it?” Cassidy asks me, gesturing to my jeans and sweater.

I blink, “I didn’t want to be too open on my first day.” I say, just as sparkling waters are placed down in front of us.

Cassidy laughs with a sparkle in her light blue eyes, I catch Nolan side glancing her as he slides out a book written in Japanese and begins reading. Graham nods to Terrence, making himself a cup of tea, before turning to me, “So, do you think you can get all of us tickets for tonight?” He asks me.

I tilt my head at him, “For free, I don’t think so.” I say to him.

Terrence slowly turns to me, midnight blue eyes penetrate my green ones, “What do you want in return?” He says to me.

I raise an eyebrow, “Information. Such as why it’s so important for you to attend.”

Nolan smirks, “I like this girl.” He says, taking a sip of his sparkling water.

Cassidy leans back with her own smile, “As do I. There are clients there that Terrence’s Father has business with and had instructed him to go, except we were too late once all VIP guests were selected. This is more than just a simple fashion show or modelling stunt. Besides. It’s Graham, Nolan and I that just want a little fun in this boring excuse of a school.” She says to me, before taking a bite of her salad.

“We can get you into a lot of different parties in the city.” Nolan says to me, as if that was convincing.

“I’m not into parties. I’m going for business.” I say to him, blankly.

Cassidy smirks as she glances around, “You don’t look so into attention either, and yet the entire school is now interested in the new girl because you’re suddenly fresh new meat at this table.” She says to me.

I furrow my eyebrows, “I can’t imagine as to what happened with the last pile of meat who says here.” I say to her.

Terrence narrows his eyes at me, Cassidy laughs, “You are highly entertaining.”

I reach over to the grapefruit sliced decoratively on the table, placing it down on the plate in front of me, “I’ll meet you at the fashion show’s front entrance.” I say to them.

Graham smirks next to me, “Sit with us too.” He says to me.

“So, Scarlet. What’s your deal?” Terrence asks me.

I look over to him, before seeing a certain table behind his view. The only one looking my way, specifically to me, was Cheryl. Sawyer next to her, side-glancing her before he too turns this way, his dark brown eyes narrow when I stare into him. Cheryl furrows her eyebrows, mouthing one name. Theo stills where he sits when she does and then all heads snap up to mine from across the lot of the room. Terrence still stares at me, “Hello.” He says to me, rudely.

I snap my eyes back to his midnight ones, “I don’t understand your question.”

“People seem to recognise you here.” Nolan says, not as rudely as Terrence would have shaped the statement had he got to say it.

“I came here two years ago before I moved to New York for a bit.” I murmur, popping a purple grape past my lips.

“So, why’d you leave?” Graham asks me.

“What happened at Blair Academy?” I ask.

Cassidy stills.

Terrence scrutinises me, “Who’s asking? You can’t exactly make money off getting such details.” He says to me.

I hold a smile, “Why are you getting so defensive then?” I ask him.

He leans back and folds his arms, studying me.

Nolan scratches the back of his neck, “A girl passed away, strangled herself to death because one of the teachers there was...sexually abusing her and before she could ask for help, she chose another way to end it.” He says. Slowly. His eyes staring into mine as mine widen slightly.

Cassidy swallows, “Yeah, it was a really big deal. The girl’s family didn’t want any press on it, but social media through the kids there at the private school was still really inappropriate, ended up posting it all over the place about what happened. The teacher was obviously jailed, but there were rumours that he wasn’t the only one. That’s why we left it all behind us.” Cassidy says, playing with her salad, gulping on her sparkling water.

Graham tenses next to me, “And that girl...she was my girlfriend at the time.” He mutters, pinching the bridge of his nose, before he slams his napkin down professionally and steps away, strutting from the now silent room.

Terrence glares at me, “Thanks a lot, now look what you’ve done.” He spits at me, moving away too and strutting the way in which Graham had left abruptly.

I look over to Nolan, who shakes his head, “I’m sorry for their behaviour, it’s a touchy subject for Graham and Terrence is just really guarded.” He says to me.

I nod slowly, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked.” I say to him.

Cassidy smiles softly, “You have every right too, everyone is so afraid to come up to us because we’d chosen to move here, where most of the students at the school just left the country.” She says to me.

“I had no idea something like that actually happens at schools.” I murmur.

Nolan raises an eyebrow, “You said you lived in New York when you moved, it must have been far crazier there, right?” He says to me, intertwining his fingers, both of them stare at me.

I shrug, slicing fine pieces of green apple on my plate. Cassidy looks around the entire student body that looks to whisper and gossip. Before the bell rings, Nolan helps Cassidy into a stand, “You two have your classes together, right? We could all meet at the shopping centre close to the city for new dress suits for tonight.” Nolan suggests as we begin walking to the closest exit.

Cassidy nods, “Do you have a ride?” She asks me, gesturing to her and Nolan, “—we could all take Terrence’s limousine.” She says to me, just as I hear a slow, soft, hesitant and nervous voice behind me.

“Scarlet?”

Cassidy glances behind me, giving Cheryl a scoffing look as she turns back to me, waiting. I stop in my movements, still looking to Cassidy, “I have my own car. We can meet at the mall after school.” I say to her.

Nolan raises an eyebrow, “Just what is your choice of wheels, heiress?” He asks me, grinning.

I raise my own eyebrow, “Black Veneno roadster.” I say.

Cassidy’s jaw drops, “Lamborghini? Girl, I’m so envious now.” She says, smirking as a frozen Nolan is dragged away. I turn slowly to Cheryl. She stands there, shocked in front of the table that I don’t stare at.

“Cher.” I say, slowly.

Sawyer stares at me with both eyebrows raised, “You’re back? Where the hell have you been?” He asks me, shocked. I slide my eyes back to Cheryl, she stares at me, eyes desperate to talk.

I look at her, “I honestly thought you’d turn back to your usual, conservative self. But if having men look at you like a toy is your thing, that’s just fine too.” I say to her.

She breathes faster at the sound of my voice, “Where have you been? We put flyers up when you suddenly disappeared, I fucking turned our world upside down searching for you.” She says to me, reaching for me, I glance at her hand, she stops at the look I conveniently give her.

“You made it abundantly clear there was no world for you and I in it.” I point out.

Lillian stares at me, swallowing, “You look...different. Polished.”

Cheryl stares at me, as if attempting to look into the windows of my soul too, she’d find nothing for her there, “You all do not.” I say, turning away and moving up the steps before stepping away, not once looking back.

When school was officially ended for the day, I step towards my locker, catching a call from Laura Benson, one of Mom’s managers here, “Laura, good afternoon.” I say to her, sliding my textbook through before side glancing the mirror to see Cheryl standing behind me. I close the locker door and give Theo Henderson, who’s leaning on the locker behind it, a blank look.

“Miss Millennial, good afternoon. I jus wanted to check in with you about the dress you’ll be wearing tonight at the fashion show?” She asks me, politely.

I grab my bag, not looking at the males of Theo’s group before Collette leans against the lockers on the other side, “Yes, I thought it was the strapless silver diamond, only I’d like the black bodice one for afterwards.” I say to her, sliding the bag over my shoulder and moving around Collette, between her and Cheryl.

“Yes, that is correct. We have them sorted for you, but I’ve noticed you added four more guests on the list. I’m not entirely sure these guests are appropriate for the event.” She says to me.

I pause where I stand, so does the certain group following me, I take a seat by the stairs and remove my heels for the more branded ones in my bag, “I understand that, but I’ve approved of their presence at the show tonight and I am hosting this thing. Could you please send me my schedule for any meetings in the next two days. Oh, and those guests coming, I’d like background information on each one. Please get Dean to get that done and send it to me straight away. Thank you, Laura.” I say to her, hanging up as I grab my bag and stand from the steps, pulling out my red trench coat and shrugging it on.

“Do you people want something?” I ask, leaning down to grab my bag after I had pulled my trench coat on.

Theo holds it out to me.

I give him a flat look, “Don’t touch my stuff.” I say to him snatching it from his callous hand.

He raises an eyebrow at me, “You hold grudges.” He murmurs, softly.

I raise my own eyebrow, “And you’ve lost any meaning behind the word ‘kind’.”

Sawyer folds his arms, “We’re surprised your back after two years of going completely off the grid.”

I narrow my eyes at him, “Funny how easy that was with a hacker such as yourself.”

He purses his lips. Cheryl shakes her head at him once, turning back to me, “Please, where have you been the past two years?” She asks me.

My phone rings again, I close my eyes, answering the call, “Yes.” I answer with.

“We’re waiting by the parking lot and there’s no Lamborghini here.” Terrence says blankly.

I narrow my eyes, “How did you get my number?” I ask him, roughly.

“Does that really matter right now, do you need a fucking ride or not?” He spits at me.

I scoff, “You know what, don’t fucking swear at me. I ask one question at lunch and you might as well have been wearing a big red target on your face. My Lamborghini has its own activation system and will be pulling up at the exact time I step towards the parking lot. Plus, I don’t need a new dress. You people have your tickets, I will met you at the mall.” I say to him, hanging up.

They’re silent behind me. I pocket my phone and tuck my bag into the corner of my arm.

Cheryl was wearing a jumper now, large enough to cover everything, “Where did you go?” She asks me again.

I step down in my heels, the same step with Theo facing me, his eyes penetrate my form, while I stare Cheryl down, “New York. Staying here wasn’t such a fun, welcoming option for me back then, only now—I have reason to finish my senior year here. So, the only favour I ask of you, Cheryl, is to keep far out of my way. Including your new set of followers.”

“Ah, so the rumours are true. Scarlet Millennial is back from the dead.” Ace says, leaning against his locker.

I stare at Cheryl, darkly, “Ace Swanson, you’ve grown a mouth and confidence I see? Still stuck in Ashton’s shadow?” I ask him.

Xavier stops Ace from stepping forward as the cheerleaders around them look away from me, shocked and slightly confused by just who I am, Ace clenches his fists as he stares at me, “I see you have too.” He spits.

I raise an eyebrow, “Everyone had to when these idiots use to be in charge, but add a little wealth into the mix, this school just got interesting.” I comment. It’s Leo who gives me a long look with a raised eyebrow.

Ace points at me, “Watch it.”

Theo almost opens his mouth, I raise a hand at him as I stare Ace down, “Why don’t you, Swanson? Or I’ll let out a certain money-making tradition you use because Daddy cut you off when you wrapped your car around a tree last summer and killed a minor you were so-called in love with.” I say to him.

Even Xavier freezes at my words.

I gesture with a nudge of my head to Ace, “You can go now.” I say to him, coldly. He didn’t exactly help in any way when I was a gullible sixteen year old.

Lillian laughs awkwardly, “Wow, you showed him.”

I look to her, “You’re worse than he is, so I wouldn’t go feeling relieved.” I say to her, she pales at my words, I hit Cheryl’s shoulder as I walk past her.

“Outside of school, where whatever you want, but I’d be wary inside of school, considering even Professors are looking at you in a way I know, deep down, you don’t want any man looking at you.” I say to her, facing her as she stands frozen, side on to me.

I was taller than her in these heels, “Thanks for the welcome back, bitch.” I spit at her.

My phone vibrates again.

‘What a pretty coat...Scar.’

I hitch a breath.

CHAPTER 2

“You didn’t look too bad on the runway.” Nolan says beside me, sipping on a glass of wine as a few designers commented on my black dress. Lana Del Rey plays in the background, I study the set up of the grand celebration, after meeting with a great many few of Mom’s most important clients, I take note of the oppositions roaming the room, not to mention the press that steps up to Nolan and I for a picture. I smile, before Nolan wraps an arm around my waist and also smiles for the camera.

Terrence side glances us from where he stands with Daniel Kruger, a wealthy owner of an oil extracting enterprise across Russian soil. I narrow my eyes at that, he raises his scotch to me, eyes penetrating mine, “You have piped his interest.” Nolan says next to me.

I glance over to him, before facing him completely, “Good thing he hasn’t piped mine then. What did you study at the Blair Academy before choosing to join the school closer to the city, yet far less privilege?” I ask him.

He turns to me with a smirk, “You dance with me and I’ll give you all that you want to know.” He says to me, reaching to move a curl from my cheek.

I grab his arm swiftly, he tenses at my quickness, I narrow my eyes at him, “Don’t flirt with me, I’m not interested. You and your friends used me from the start, and I’m not as much of an imbecile as you are, Nolan. Finish your drink and take your elite to go, understand?” I say to him, shoving his arm away as he loses any smile and partially glares at me.

Cassidy was on the dance floor while Graham was looking out to the view, I strut towards the exit elevator. I needed a hot chocolate fix and the only way to get to there is basically just by walking down the street. I shrug on my red trench coat, the bell dings while I catch not only families, but certain high school cliques. Xavier is the loudest, laughing with one of the cheerleaders while Ace takes a sip of his own coffee.

I order a hot chocolate and a lemon slice, saying that I’d be by one of the two seaters with a view of the remaining city. The staff member nods with a smile, “We’ll bring it over to you, ma’am.” She says to me, I thank her, gathering the number in my hand, stepping aside when a couple of giggling kids run past me.

I slide my phone from my pocket, stepping around a table of two families obviously having a get-together, “Laura, yes—I left early. Please send my thanks to the clients on the list, I’ll schedule a meeting for dinner with Zachary Rome this Friday, Santa Cruise by the pier. Tell him we’ll discuss further designs that are to be sent to New York.” I say to her, moving to a two seater and almost cursing when I sit down and find myself staring at four males and three females staring straight at me too.

The next moment, the staff member places the hot chocolate down in a takeaway cup as well as my slice, I smile in thanks, handing her a fifty tip. She pauses in shock, “Thank you so much, ma’am.” She breathes out, I smile softly at her as she steps away in shock.

“Of course, Miss Millennial. Adam Hart also wanted a word with you, he bought your silver dress.” She says to me, slowly.

I lean back, “Now, why would he do that?” I wonder, just as movement in front of me has me glaring at the table Leo and Sawyer slide in next to mine.

“I think he fancies you.” She says to me.

I grab my hot chocolate as Cheryl slowly sits opposite me, “Tell him I’m unavailable, but happy to talk business.” I say to her, a masculine body slides in the seat next to me, I half glare when I recognise his cologne.

“He almost picked a fight with one of your guests. Nolan, I believe.” She says, sounding as though she’s amused.

“I want information on that one. Each of them moved from the Blair Academy to my old high school. Plus, Terrence was only there to speak up his own Father’s company, which does make me wonder whether he believed I was just a pawn in his little game. I’d like as much information on them as possible.” I say to her, leaning my elbows on the smooth table.

“Of course. Oh, and Ivy Laurence would also like a meeting on modelling for a few of her designs at a fashion show the end of this week. It’s no gala, it’s an art auction in fact. One design is one of the designs you’re actually interested in, an old collection of—”

I smirk slowly, “Pleiades rings, correct? What’s the auction price on it?” I ask her.

“Three million.” She says to me.

I raise an eyebrow, “Put my name down for six million. I want those rings.” I say, Cheryl chokes on her coffee in shock. Theo tenses next to me, while all eyes spin straight to me.

“Will do. You have a meeting tomorrow morning with Kaiden and Michelle Cooper.” She informs me, I take a slow sip of my hot chocolate.

“Which breakfast club?” I ask her.

“Maisie’s.” She says to me.

I purse my lips, “Thank you for letting me know. Take care, Laura, I’ll sort the cleaning crew for tonight. Enjoy.” I say to her, hanging up.

“Just what are all of you doing sitting at my table?” I ask them.

Collette folds her arms, “Was that six million dollars?” She breathes out.

I raise an eyebrow, “That’s pretty irrelevant right now, don’t you think?” I ask her.

“How long have you been back?” Cheryl asks me.

I raise an eyebrow, “A month, actually.” I lie, seeing if she’d see that.

Theo scoffs, “Yeah, I would’ve recognised you sooner. Today was your first day back at the school, you got here a week ago.” He says, no longer as stoic as he has been, I narrow my eyes at Sawyer.

He rolls his lips in, “What are you looking at me for?” He asks me.

I give him a flat look, “Because you’re his little hacker.” I say, pointedly.

“We saw pictures of your fashion show.” Lillian murmurs, gesturing to her phone.

I gesture for her phone. She hesitates, handing the phone to Leo, who slides it to Sawyer, who was about to give it to me, before he halts and stares me down, “What’s the deal between you and Nolan? You two seemed closer than that of the others.” He says to me.

I look at him, “I just met them. They saw tickets of the fashion show on my laptop, seemed genuinely nice at first, but then again, so did most of my best friends from childhood, but your flat, domineering, and highly deranged arses fell into the picture, tarnished girls lives and attempted to fool them into believing you were mere bad boys in a high school, having fun and illegally using race cars to make money, yet was dumb enough to get your girls involved, so an anonymous donation was made to pay certain medical bills to help when those girls were kicked out of their homes because said girls...fell head over heels for you. Sound familiar?” I ask him.

Collette’s eyes widen, “You.” She whispers in shock.

I gesture to the phone, “Hand it over, or I’ll take something precious of your own away and make it seem...as if it all was just a tragic accident. Bye, bye money-making vehicles and hello orange jumpsuit.” I say to them, they stiffen.

Sawyer hands me the phone, I snatch it from his fingers. I open the screen and look through the photos, along with the comments. I furrow my eyebrows at the pictures, there were many of me in the silver dress, posing and walking the runway. Only that wasn’t my main concern, I catch the sight of new pictures, especially ones of Adam Hart handing the silver dress to Terrence of all people, “Sketchy little shit.” I mutter under my breath.

“What?” Cheryl asks me.

I ignore her, grabbing my own phone and searching up past employees, along with current ones in Terrence’s family business. It didn’t take long to see A. Hart on the list.

“They said they attended the high school for a year, after leaving Blair because a girl died due to an inappropriate relationship with a teacher.” I say, slowly.

Collette leans forward next to Leo, “What are you talking about?” She asks me.

I tilt my head, “What happened? You people use to be so fun.” I say to her, sliding her phone to her.

Cheryl reaches for my wrist. I grab it the same way I grabbed Nolan’s, she gasps, “You’re hurting me.” She says in shock. I let go as she pulls her arm away.

I point at her, “Don’t. Touch. Me. You have no right to ask questions, you have no right to sit next to me. I mean, bloody hell, if you had chosen your closest friend, the girl who would beat up older guys for trying to pick on you, who could through Theo Henderson off his back, even after what he’s done to me—you’d think that you, of all people, would stay by my side. I don’t even see what you have for Samual over here, cause it ain’t love, sweetheart, if it was...he wouldn’t have taken you anywhere that would endanger your own life. He wouldn’t have allowed you to step into school with your skirt so far up your arse, that even teachers were looking. I’m not saying you can’t wear whatever you like, but your intentions behind those actions is what will determine your next move. Yours involved a stone above a coffin and your name engraved in it.” I say to her.

Sawyer stares me down, “You can say whatever you want to us, but hurting my girlfriend will not be allowed.” He spits at me.

I scoff, “You can’t exactly do anything, Sawyer. I have more than enough knowledge and wealth to snap your neck and make it look like it was all your doing.” I say to him.

Cheryl trembles, hiding her fingers under the table. I look at her, lifting up into a stand, “I’d like the real Cheryl back once you gain the confidence to stop shaking, Reed. It’s funny, you chose the druggy when we could have been sun-tanning in the Bahamas holding tropical fruit drinks or, you know, travelling around Rome. Tivoli was as beautiful as you once described.” I say to her.

Her jaw drops, “How could you possibly have all of this? You said that would be an impossible dream!” She snaps at me, standing as she faces me.

I smile at her, “Good night, Cher.”

When I left, I felt certain hawk eyes on me from across the street. Terence stands there leaning against the brick wall, holding the silver dress in a transparent cover. I slide into my Lamborghini with a narrow-eyed look his way.

(Theo Henderson, Leo Scott, Collette Simmons, Ryan Ford, Lillian Dane, Sawyer Samual, Cheryl Reed.) -names for reminder.
