Prologue
Jade walked to her full-length mirror and stared at her reflection. Her black, shoulder length hair was badly in need of a trim but she had no inclination to do anything about it. Her blue eyes, accentuated by long dark lashes, normally her most attractive feature, were dull and lifeless. She stared at her naked body; her grief was unbearable. Why did she feel like this? But, she knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt that she could not cope without her son…..Oh God, she thought, how could anyone say that a pregnant woman glows! I look awful – but not as awful as I feel.
Of course her appearance was nothing compared to the searing pain in her heart and soul. That, above all, was the discomfort she felt at this moment.
’Why is life so unfair,’ she cried out passionately, ‘I need him… I must have him. Oh Jesus, help me. What am I to do…’ ...Her insides were churning. ‘Oh God, please help me…’ she repeated, rocking two and fro, clutching her swollen belly. ‘There has to be a solution… I must have my son! I really couldn’t tolerate living without Craig in my life!’
