Chapter 1
Thump thump thump, the music pulsed through my body as I swayed to it hypnotic call.
“Dora!” I heard someone call but I ignored it as the alcohol warmed my veins.
“Damnit Dora!” Came the voice again. I slowly opened my eyes to see Jack the owner of that rather irritating voice. His sandy blonde hair was messy as if he had just gotten out of bed. His clothes further gave that impression as they were wrinkled and his shirt was inside out.
“What the fuck do you want Jack?” I slurred. How many drinks has I drank already?
“We need to go Dora!” He yelled over the music.
“Why would I want to leave? I am just fine here!” I said before flipping him off and giggling.
“It is almost time!” He said giving me a weird look. “If we do not go now very bad things can happen!”
“You cannot tell me what to do Jack! You are not my elder, not my family, and not my husband!” I said back placing my hands on my hips and glaring at him.
“Dora... trust me I know I am none of those things to you. You make it clear every damn time you come here.” He said his face turning red and a vein over his eyes bulging.
“Then why do you come here then?” I asked mockingly.
Suddenly he was in my face and growling. “Because you stupid kitten, you are the only shifter in this fucking bar...again.”
I shoved him hard away from me. “Fuck off Fran and Talk were just here. Plus it’s still hours before she rises!” I said flipping him off again.
“Damnit Dora they left an hour ago and then called me. No one is fucking here!” He said reaching out for my arm. Even drunk and possibly high, I batted his arm away with ease.
“You are just lying to me now go away!” I yelled and backed up into the crowd of people. I watched him throw up his hand and stop out of the bar. I laughed and continued to dance losing mysekf to the heat of the bodies near me and the music vibrating my bones.
I felt a pair of arm wrap around me from behind and I smiled. The heady scent of roses and lilac filled my nose. I spun around to see just who I knew would be there. Cali her dark auburn hair and green eyes ring with black eyeshadow and liner. Her cheeks and nose spattered with freckles.
“Hello love.” She said her Irish accent like soft velvet rubbing again my skin.
“Mmm I was wondering when you would get here.” I said wrapping my arm around her neck and placing my purple lips against her black. I melded myself as tight against her as I could are out lips and tongues reacquainted with each other.
She slowly pulled back and cupped my check with a wicked smile. “Love why do ya gotta be so mean to em?”
“He is an asshole. He is always trying to ruin my fun. Can you believe he tried to make me believe I was the only...” I trailed off as her smiling face turned into a frown.
“Love...it is me and you...only.” she said and my heart jumped. That could not be right. They said they would tell me when we needed to leave.
“Oh fuck...” I swore looking around me. Then it hit my nose in a wave. The smell of human, the smell of prey and the only other predator was in my arms.
“Love...she is already peaking...” Cali said sadly running her thumb over my cheek. “Come.”
“Fuck...Cali...” I said I knew now why my blood was warm and why the vibrations of the music was vibrating my bones. The moon was rising and I would be either shifting soon or find another way to release the beast.
“Come on love, let’s get ye outta here.” Cali said grabbing my hand and pushing through the crowd. As we got close to the door, someone grabbed my arm.
“Hey little lady, you ain’t leavin’ now are ya?” Said a big man with a beard down to his stomach and looking like her was cut from a slab of granite.
“Oh aye she is, ya see if she don’t take her meds, well ye don’t wanna see that.” Cali said pressing herself against my front. “But maybe another time she can come and play.” She kissed me slowly and I gripped her back. I could feel my nails lengthen and a soft purr crept out of me.
“Well I think she will be just fine here with us.” Said the man trying to pull me towards him.
“Cali...” I whimpers as I felt my teeth begin to change in my mouth. I was losing it and fast and there was nothing I could do.
“Scott dear, teach this man why he should never grab a lady.” Cali said with the unmistakable sound of violence in her voice.
“Of course Cali.” I heard the deep rumble of Scott say. Suddenly the man’s hand was off my arm and Cali was ushering me out the door.
“About time you two got out here!” I heard Jack practically whine. “Where the fuck is Scott?”
“Jack, dear, shut up. Scott be taken care of a small giant and Dora is already changing.” I heard Cali say as she began to pull up my shirt.
“Fuck...we have a big issue then. There is prime meat in there and no other Feline here to stop her.” Jack said with a base growl.
“Then we will have to play chase with her.” Cali said as my shirt came off my head and I felt her work at the button of my shorts. “Be a dear and undo her bra please.”
I snapped my head around and hiss at him before growling. “Woah now Dora we are just here to help. I am not going to touch you.” Jack said his hands raised.
“Don’t...fucking...touch me...” I growler at him. I could feel my skin starting to swell and it felt like I was about to burst into flames.
“Will you allow me to help?” Came Scott’s deep rumble.
“To...hot...Cali...please...” I whined as my back suddenly bowed backwards.
“Boys we need to work fast here. Scott hold her arms and lift her. Jack pop the strap now!” Cali said and I could hear the worry in her voice.
Suddenly I was off the ground and my shorts were being yanked hard down my legs. I felt my bra loosen and I felt like I could breath a little easier. My sandles were pulled off and my feet connected with cold gravel.
I felt hands on my face and I opened my eyes to see Cali’s eyes had changed from her emerald green to the amber gold of her wolf. “So love, feel like chasing some tail?” She grin just before her face began to elongate.
“I don’t think she could catch us.” I heard Scott say with a growling laugh.
“I’ll bite your...FUCK!” I screamed as the bones in my body began to move as if they were liquid. I hit the ground hard and scraped my claws throught he gravel.
“Everything ok?” I heard a man ask but the pain was to much for me to say any more.
“Yes, just to much alcohol is all.” I heard Scott say.
“Is that why she is naked? Did she puke in herself?” He asked again.
“I would suggest you mind your own.” I heard Scott rumble out.
“If y’all are hurting...”
“Fuck off!” I screamed my voice changing mid scream.
“Alright! Fuck you I was only trying to help!” The man said walking off. I opened my eyes to see my black fur was already beginning to crawl up my arms and I shivered.
“Cali, we need to get her out of here.” I heard Jack said, his voice full of nerves and anxiety.
“No shit Jack. It’s not like I can force her change to move faster.” Cali snapped and growled.
I felt my tail begin to lengthen out of the bas of my spine and I whimpered again in pain. “Please!” I cried the pain overwhelming.
“Almost the love.” Cali reassured.
“See I told ya they were still here. It’s time you get some back ya dumb fucker!” I heard the man who had stopped me say.
“Wrong fucking time idiot.” Said Jack. I heard a gun cock back and I deep growl escaped me. “The fuck was that?”
“You need to run now.” Jack said as I felt fur slid against my own.
“Why the fuck would I...” he trailed off as a deep growl echoed into the night. “Fuck they are...” he never finished as I head something hit the gravel hard.
“Get her out of her now Cali!” Scott yelled before a howl split the night air. I felt so ething nip my tail and I spun around my claw leading the way. They met with open air but I saw what was there. A white wolf looking almost like it was laughing.
I hissed at it and it took off for the trees. I chased it at full speed planning to give it some pain right back. Into the dark forest we ran, a game of cat and mouse among the shadowed brush and trees. As I ran, I caught aight of the wolf. Here one moment gone the next. No matter how much speed I used, it was always one tree ahead of me.
To my left I heard something moving in the brush and I spun. At first I didn’t see anything, then he was there a man slowly walking through the brush. I slowly stalked towards him, the wolf forgotten entirely, as my hunger announced itself. I got down low, my legs coiling to jump as I watched him. I leaped with a feral scream, to see his face turn in fear and shock.
I never reached him. Half way to him, something big slammed into my side. It sent me flying through the air and slamming me hard into a tree. The last thing I heard before darkness over took me was a roar and a scream.
