Howl & Honor

"I've loved the initial couple of chapters. The plot is intriguing with original supernatural concepts, which stop it from being cliche. The writing style is excellent with a clear indication of the change of POV. The characters are built up vividly and realistically. I'll definitely keep reading and this deserves the 5 stars. "

At it's core, an excellent plot. (15 chapters read)

"Human FMC, Werewolf and Lycan MCs, politics, vampires, oracles, witches, prophecies, politics, romance, and a lot more. Caleb and Jane's story has many twists and turns. She's engaged to AJ but doesn't know what he is. Then she meets Caleb, her true mate. All the story needs is to slash and burn the repeated information, reducing Jane's flip-flopping while choosing Caleb when AJ is clearly the jerk from the get-go. It takes 14 chapters to clarify something the readers knew from chapter two, that AJ is no good for her, and she belongs with Caleb. Sometimes, 'less is more', for the plot, conflict, and characters to shine. Caleb's conflict with his ascent to power was really well done but not the central issue. You could elaborate on that. In parts, I found myself wishing Jane was less Bella Swan (torn between two MCs when her choice is pretty obvious to the readers/ viewers). My suggestion: her powers/ premonition should get more attention instead. This is a good story, it just needs some polishing to shine. I enjoyed parts of it, but also skimmed parts of it. If the chapters are shorter and the repeated information is removed, and the endless circling most characters indulge in reduced, you have a page turned here. "

I tried

"I really tried to get through this but it started to drag on around 100 pages. Don’t think I’ll be able to finish another 400 pages of it. And I don’t know if it was intentional or not but the number of times in each chapter it was mention some for of everything was going to change/this would change everything/ little did they know everything was about to be turned upside down/ little did they know how their fate would change. Like literally every few paragraphs. Honestly one of the reasons I stopped reading. It was like it continually halting the plot with those sentences instead of just normal progression. None of those lines were necessary. Obviously a human being in a love triangle with a werewolf and lycan will have everything be changed forever. "
