Chapter 1

Dialogue is so important that it could stop a reader from reading your story. They might feel as though the writing is too formal or just..off. You don’t want your readers thinking, “no one would ever say that,” or “real people don’t talk like that.” You want your dialogue to sound like you are watching two people converse in real life. You want it to be fluent, easy to understand, quick, and smooth.

Every time you read a scene including dialogue, you want to be emotionally engaged in what’s being said AND what’s not being said. You want to be immersed in the atmosphere of the book.
