The Old Wood Cabin

“What a nice day for the bonding trip. The sky is blue, not a cloud in sight.” I tell myself as I look out the window.

Today was the day that Mija, Tatia, Kylah and I had planned to head to my grandpa’s old rustic log cabin in the mountains. I grabbed my towel and headed for the shower. Today was the last day of hot water as the cabin had no hot water system. Showering only with cold water for a week. Brr! It gave me shivers just thinking about it.

Knock, Knock. That was my signal to grab my suitcase and head for the door.

The four-hour drive was a total blast. We had some pretty terrible car karaoke sessions, but it was hilarious. Everyone took turns singing their favourite songs, usually off-key but with lots of enthusiasm. The car was full of laughter and jokes about our singing.

We also played I spy to keep things interesting, with tricky things to spot like “something that starts with T.” Trees, trucks, and signs became part of the game. And then there was spotto, where spotting a yellow car meant playful punches and shouting “Spotto!” The competition was fierce but super fun.

All these little games and the nonstop joking around made the drive anything but boring. We had no idea what would happen next...
