Chapter 1 beginning
Hello I'm Vincent Weiss. Here's a picture of me when I was just a tiny little toddler.

I think I was a cute baby and so apparently did my adoptive parents Steve and Amanda Weiss.

They adopted me when I was shipped over to America and left by my biological mom in an orphanage. I know nothing much about my South Korean heritage other than the fact that my parents insist I learn how to speak in my native tongue just in case. They have this notion in their heads that I may want to return to South Korea one day and inquire about my biological mother. I don't think that is the case right now but that does not mean growing up I wasn't curious from time to time. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't. Any way Steve and Amanda said they took one look at me as a baby and instantly they both fell in love. They never treated me any different and raised me just like I came out of the wombs of Amanda herself. Steve and Amanda were trying for years to have kids but after ten years they felt like it would never happen, so they opted to adopt. After me they adopted my brother Daniel and about three years later a miracle happened, and my parents got pregnant with my little sister Ava.

We are one happy family that loves each other unconditionally. Steve and Amanda did a great job raising us.
Here is how I look today.

Yes, me Dr. Vincent Lee Weiss. Twenty-seven years of age. Currently in my second year of residency at my family-owned hospital. I'm on my way to being a full-fledged heart surgeon. My brother Daniel a neurosurgeon and my sister a nurse. Both my parents are directors at the hospital. But enough about my chosen career and family let's get to the meat of it all. I always said there were three important women in my life. My mother and sister being two of course and there is my best friend. The girl who makes me laugh, the one who sticks with me through good and tough times, my advice giver, my realest and my basically rider for life Shaylee Brown.

Can I be honest and just say she's amazing. I don't only think of her as a friend but on the level of my little sister Ava, like a sister. Shay as we affectionate call her was known to me by my little sister Ava. She was our next-door neighbor in fact. She lived next to us with her mom and older brother Justin. See one day when we were little Ava brought her over to our house and introduced us. I just thought she was an annoying little brat following me around everywhere, teasing me and she was always too sassy. She and my sister got along great since they were the same age, and I was three years older than them. A ten-year-old being stuck with two seven-year-old girls and an eight-year-old brother wasn't the most fun especially when all I wanted to do was game on the computer with my other friends, but a bunch of brats kept running around distracting me. It was annoying and it almost only happened when Shay was around. By the time as we reached our teens, she became less annoying and matured a bit. She kept wanting to hang around me still which caused me to roll my eyes and often hide from her locking my room, whenever she was around. I just couldn't be bothered. Until one day I had problems with my calculous homework and was hitting my laptop out of pure frustration and anger because I couldn't solve certain problems. That's when Shaylee entered my room.

"Hey, don't take it out on the laptop buddy." Shaylee said causally strolling into my room like she owned the place.
"Uh how did you even get in my room twerp? You're so annoying." I stood up to throw her out immediately.
"Hey, it's not my fault you left your door open this time. I thought it was a clear invitation to enter."
""Would you please just get out. I'm studying. Why don't you go and play somewhere with Ava or Dan." I tried to push her out my bedroom door but she stenches her tiny frame and would not budge.
"We are not little kids anymore Vinny boy. We don't play we just hang out together. Besides Ava and Daniel went to do something for your mom and dad, I'm just waiting until they're finished."
"Well leave, go watch tv, go to the park, better yet just go home. Just leave me alone and let me study." I tried to push her out again.
"Well, no one's home by me. My mom is working late and in case you've forgotten Justin is off to college."
At this point I sucked my teeth even more annoyed. "I don't care Shay leave now."
"Well maybe I can help you let me see what you're working on." She pushed pass me and went straight to my laptop. I sighed rolling my eyes as I followed her.
"Shay you and I are not in the same grade. This is complicated stuff. Please for the last time just lea....."
"Correct!" The automated voice along with a distinct green tick ran across my screen as Shaylee solved the problem easily from my laptop, stopped my words midair. I had to look at the screen and see if I was seeing and hearing right. I spent twenty minutes trying to figure that problem out and she solved it in less than two minutes.
"What the.....?" I said staring at my screen in disbelief.
"You were doing it wrong. It's not rocket science. I can do it in my sleep." Shay boasted with a substile smile and a nonchalant shrug.
"How did you do that? How did you even know that?" I asked shocked that a thirteen-year-old girl was schooling me on complicated math problems.
"My brother is a mathematician dude. He taught me everything I know. I can help you with your homework if you want."
I turned my face to look at her. Her stoic facial features with her wide curly hair loose and wild. Features that annoy and bug me. But today I had to weigh my choices. I needed the help, and she seemed to be the person that could do that right now. I gulped swallowing my pride, praying that her helping me wouldn't be a regret if she decided to seek me out even more every time she came over.
"Okay but you're only helping me with this. Don't expect us to be best friends after this." I looked at her stern before we proceeded.
End of flashback: Back to the present.
Little did I know that I would eat those last words back then. Not only did we become good friends after, but we became best friends. From that day to now we were inseparable, she helped me out and vice versa. I learned that even though she was younger we basically enjoyed the same things and had big aspirations for life. Shay is basically on her first year of residency at our hospital and is gearing to be a heart surgeon such as myself.
Like I said earlier they were the three most important women in my life, but little did I know that my university crush would be vying for a fourth spot as another important woman. The thing is I really want and need her to be. Today, Vivienne Monroe stumbled upon my hospital.

The moment our eyes met again my heart raced. She was here the woman I craved for back then but didn't have the balls to approach. This time I'll try not to let her out of my life again.
