"A good story out there. At first, I found Kitty weird but she is just too affectionate I guess. Having mystery and that detective part as a subplot really intrigued me. Good work! "

"I haven’t read many historical fiction books that I can remember, but this one feels fresh. This is a story about Kitty (yes, people call her Kitty, and I don’t think I remember her real name 😐) and her eleven cousins, who also happen to be her adopted siblings. Usually, it would be a mind-boggling number, but then again, I have 12 cousins just from my father’s side, so no big deal 🙂. The romantic tension is so real, not gonna lie, and I can’t seem to figure out who she’ll end up with. It’s set up to be between Joey and Ben, making up for a tension-fueled love triangle between the childhood friend/cousin and the outsider. Still, the family is rather heartwarming, and their interactions bring a smile to my face often. It’s no coincidence that the only person I feel uneasy about is the one outside of this family 😒. The book also provides us with an interesting subplot, in which Tobias Thackery, one of the cousins and a detective as well, investigates an anarchic plot that is tied to his sister’s disappearance. The last chapter I read in this book teased that he’ll be seeking help from his family members, making the case personal and much more interesting, which is what the premise teased beforehand, I guess. It was awesome! No notes! Great job, Maria! Can’t wait to read more 😉!"

"I love a good mystery. The story is really cute and youthful. The story had a lot of way it hooks you. Every chapter I felt like I needed to read the rest. The FMC is written from the perspective a very young girl still learning the ways of the world. Doing things without thinking because we’re young and fearless. I look forward to her growth in book two and hopefully more Agatha Christie vibes. 🖤 "
Lovely novel
"Wonderfull story, intriguing plot , strong characters... I can t wait to see what happens next! "
A swoon-worthy historical blast!
"Funny, exciting, sexy - the Victorian gloves come off for this historical romance/spy novel! It's beautifully written with great banter between all the characters, but especially electric between the captivating, intriguing leads. Just when you feel the stage is being set for a cozy trope, the author flips the script to give you that "I did not see that coming" thrill. Fans of The Gilded Age will love this. Can't wait for a sequel!"
Loved it.
"Very well written, grabbed me from the beginning. Good rhythm. I really liked that didn't sprawled endlessly through chapter after chapter. Well done. "

Wonderful Historical Story
"This story contains so many elements - mystery, action, spies, bombs, double agents, and romance - all encased in a story about a family where all is not what it seems. Well written, great characters, terrific action sequences. I absolutely loved it and I would love to see a sequel…."

I love it
"I love this book already! It feels like it will be a wonderful historical romance, but not only that, it is also filled with mystery and intrigue and the combination is perfect. It has a lot of humour and feeling and beautifully developed characters."
Quick read
"Interesting idea, but it's not really written to its fullest extent. The cousin love triangle was cringe, and the Ben/Joey scene was unnecessary. The plot wasn't really brought up until closer to the end of the story and was definitely rushed without tying up all the strings. (Ie, Ben's story, Matthew, Rebecca, etc) The language used by the characters was also believable in the beginning. It was definitely more modern language by the end. There were too many characters to keep track of also. Definitely would have worked better with a longer book. I'm not sure about a group this would be for. Some of the content is older (drug use, brothels, etc), but the rest seems better suited for a teenager (not historically accurate)."
