Chapter 1

Rose an 18 year old orphan stuck living with her Aunt and Uncle in the quiet countryside of Yorkshire. Although this may sound majestic to some Rose had always dreamt of one thing.. Love.

Seeking love as an orphan with little to none of her own possessions and a strict Aunt and Uncle was not seen as abnormal however, Rose's family was different. Growing up she had to do all the jobs around the house as her Aunt refused to get a maid. So although as a late Doctors daughter Rose should have had an education so she could aid the sick or help others. Rose had only one experience housework. Expecting a love match from a bachelor was far from the hope Rose had no one suitable let alone loveable would want her.

Rose's blonde hair curled around her, it's ringlets made her look a lot younger then her true age. Although, today her hair was now covered in ash from cleaning the fire and her dress dirty. Rose ate in the kitchen listening to her Aunt and Uncle laughing at the table.

"She'll never be a governess, have you seen the girl. She can barely clean up. How does she expect to teach" Uncle laughed.

Rose placed her head in her hands and cried whilst eating the stew she had fought over on the stove. Cooking had been one of Rose's loves once. Then she had no choice and the love became loathing. Rose needed a way out, a job.. somewhere to get out of the prison she currently called home. Wiping the tears out of her eyes and the murk off her face Rose breathed in trying to compose herself.

Luckily Rose knew how to read it's just coming up with a plan was harder, how could she get work when she could barely leave the house with all the jobs she had. Rose looked around the room, mess needed to be cleaned, the floor to be scrubbed and that was only the start. Wiping the table and removing the plates, Rose prayed for the dream she had to come true.

Help me find the true love I seek and save me from this work I am forced to do. Please.

After a moment of silence Rose started doing her chores and cleaning the house. Walking carefully into the dining area Rose picked up the plates near her Aunt and Uncle. Being too eager Rose picked up too much and dropped all on the floor creating a loud chaos of mess all over the wooden floor.

"You stupid brat" Aunt shouted her voice roaring like a lion.

Rose held in her tears, cleaning the mess she had made. Thinking of her dream to become a governess in a fancy house for a Master and his family kept her going. The thought that this could lead to love made her feel ever more brave to try and make a new life. Days and weeks blended and life seemed to go by. How long till I can find my love.. make my dream come true.

bushbaby: I love the slightly different spin on the were-world and I love love love reading Jaspers story splashed in-between. I honestly did not love Dev, he had no character growth and no arc I just didnt like who he is as a person and that made it hard to keep going about half way through. Without Jaspers ...

NN: It got me from chapter 1. I’m sad it ended, but I loved the whole story. It was very emotional to read parts of it, and the dynamics, characters, and plot twists were amazing. I’d like to have an epilogue... 10years from now. What happened to Dewey? Even Jordan hahahaha

PARIS IN THE DARK

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel
