Jianna
"Mrs. Linsowski, please? Is there any way I can change my major?"
"Flores I thought I made it very clear, that any switches were done 2 weeks ago."
I leaned back in the chair and sighed. I had to be out of here in 20 minutes, and I've explained this multiples times. "Mrs, please. I told you I wasn't here. It's an emergency."
Her beady eyes squinted at me from behind the glasses. "And what is this emergency, Flores." She paused for a minute and tipped her head down, a look assumption on her face. "A boy perhaps."
I physically wanted to growl at her. Words like that made me what a rip a whole new one. But instead, I stayed deathly still. "Not intelligent of you to assume so. Quite incorrect the statement is."
"Then enlighten me." She pushed.
"It's a private matter okay. And this is very serious. I need to change it. Please help me out. It's only a 2 week extension date."
She was quiet for a very long time. I'm hoping her consciously is human and she extend me a little grace. I haven't even been on campus for 3 weeks for Christs Sake.
Finally, angry defeat showed in her eyes. "Alright, effective next week I'll move you into finances."
My face visibly relaxed. This was one of the very many things I needed to get complete.
"Thankyou." And I up and left without any questions.
I've been attending Lake Wood 2 months now. It's safe to say it's more than early enough to switch majors. Or whatever, I don't even know how it works.
I leave the office and head outside into the main area. School in New York is so so pretty. As someone that grew up in the Inland Empire, somewhere that's not talked about nearly enough, it's crazy to think about how I've come up to afford this. Like I'm actually here. But now, it's going to be a struggle keeping up finances since everything is going to change.
My parents just told me on this fantastic break with plenty of "boys" (insert the fucking eye roll) that they were going to cut off their funds for me. They believe that my life profession should be acting. And that's what I should be perusing. So since I said I'm changing for very clear reasons....very clear, they decided I'm not worth their gold coin. So I have until the end of the 2nd semester to find out what the fuck I'm gonna do.
I keep walking on my way to the parking lot and into my Charger. I've just gotten done with my evening classes and I need to head to the store.
Just as I sit into the drivers seat. I have a meeting with Jorge...fuck.
Once I ran back into the freshman building I learned that Jorge must've assumed I'd forgotten and left. So now I've wasted 15 minutes as I drive home. Nina's definetly going to be pissed. And so is Simon.
I pull up into the Trader Joe's parking lot and park next to a tree for shade. The sun doesn't even set until 7.
Then, I walk in the store and head to the produce isle. Mindlessly to speed up the process I slip on my beats headphones. I like to pretend like is a musical, or like I'm feeling the music. Sometimes, it even puts me in a mood depending on the song. At the moment it's Birds of a Feather.
I make a quick stop for Simon and grab some Danimals, go-gurts, and Hawaiian Punch.
And suddenly, as I round the corner I look up at something tall. Black, muscular, and a head full of dreads...
Yea no.
"Hello.." he said, it more unsure rather than rude. But I couldn't tell.
My face remained blank. "Oh hello."
Then I remembered him. The wide receiver Mateo, best friends with the quarter back Tray at our school. Their chemistry is unreal.
I took a lot at his cart. It's almost funny. There's no fucking way he looks like that eating this. Chips, candy, soda along with other terrible things for your body. I mean I wasn't the healthiest but shit Mateo how.
He looked at me and then down at his cart. A smiled and a barked laugh came out. "Great for the abs don't you think?"
Sighing as well as smiling I said, "definetly."
"Been telling my buddy's that since day one man. And aren't you Jianna?"
I smiled, "Yep that's me. Sorry but I gotta get going. Nice to see you Mateo," I raised my hand to my head like a salute, "economics tomorrow."
Then I ran off. God I'm actually fucking weird.
I kind of feel like turning around, but then I also feel like he's already turning around. And...no thank you.
