Chapter 1

🛡️⚔️Slater⚔️🛡️

I watched through the tower window as my brother and his friends ran around the courtyard in their wolf forms. I dared not leave the tower while they're here, if I did I'd be bullied for sure. Footsteps echoed in the stairwell, out of fear I shifted and flew up into the rafters

"I thought I heard someone up here." my sister Serenity said, closing the door as she entered and sat down on the old green chair I brought up. The rafters creaked under my weight

"You don't have to hide from me, Slate." She said, looking up trying to find me

"Mom and Dad, sent me to find you."

"What for? To have me publicly humiliated?" I asked

"Why would Mom and Dad publicly humiliate you? They love you."

"I'm a monster, Siri. A nobody, how long is it going to take you to realize that?"

"You are a somebody," She replied "you just don't see it yet."

"Haha." I said, humorously

"Dad, needs you to help him. Uncle Maddox, Des, Danny and Dex are coming here to train with Sy."

"In other words, I'm being beat up." I said

"Not entirely." Serenity said

I appeared before her "What do you mean not entirely?"

"You're a hybrid, Slate! You can shift between bat and wolf, nobody else can do that. Dad will explain when we get there, come on."

Worst idea ever.

I silently followed Serenity down the tower stairs, outside of the castle walls to the training yard. You know when people ask if you could have any super power what would it be? Right now I wished for the power to become invisible. Rarely do I appear in public for this reason, all the stares and glares I get are harder to ignore every damn day.

Why am I alive? What am I made for, other than being a spectacle to be spit on, laughed at, picked on and hated?
