ZEPHYR MARTINEZ
She lay exhausted, leaning against the wall. Her appearance was far from presentable as blood oozed from her mouth, and the source of the bleeding seemed unknown. Pain coursed through her entire body, and then she detected an unusual smell, distinct from the scent of her own blood - it was the pungent odor of petroleum.
A wicked laugh echoed in the air, and she realized her vulnerability in the midst of the wild forest. Convinced that no one would be nearby, she recalled a recent crying session when her tormentors had subjected her to physical abuse, kicking her belly and burning cigarettes onto her hands. Despite being badly beaten, with no room for additional cuts or pain, she resolved not to let the agony consume her entirely. Crawling to the side of the cottage, before she could comprehend, everything around her ignited in flames.
Fire surrounded her, and she noticed tightly shut windows that housed spiders. Unlike them, she, with her injured leg, couldn't walk properly. The glass eventually shattered due to some force, and she coughed violently. "Let me die already... there is no one in this cruel world who loves me... it's better to die... let it all end...!" A resounding "THUD" followed, and something crashed onto her.
The cottage was now engulfed in flames, and no one was in sight. Presumably, her assailants had left after setting the cottage ablaze, assuming she would perish within the ashes. She lay there surrounded by fire, screaming as her skin burned.
On a remarkably rainy day in Tela (Country),.
Thunder roared like a wild lion, setting the atmosphere for solitude. Within the well-arranged office, the female protagonist stood alone, captivated by the downpour. Emotionlessly, she stared at the rain, a silent observer in the symphony of thunder and rainfall. Engulfed in solitude, she sought solace in smoking, with her left hand in her pocket and the right flicking cigarette ashes onto the ashtray, perhaps envisioning it as someone else.
The office, a haven of order, provided a stark contrast to the chaotic weather outside. Each item meticulously placed, the room mirrored the protagonist's composed exterior. Yet, within this organized space, the storm outside seemed to echo the turmoil within her. The rhythmic sound of raindrops merged with the distant thunder, creating a somber ambiance that encapsulated the protagonist's silent contemplation.
A knock at the door jolted her back to reality. "Come in!" she declared sternly as the visitor entered the office.
"Huff, it's pouring buckets. Had I known earlier, I'd have brought an umbrella! Being your assistant is no cakewalk. Just look at me; I resemble a drowned cat. I shudder to think how you'll cope when I'm in Wakanda!" she continued to lament.
"You know, jbdjsj###&hdjs! "
Jonicca's voice muffled under the thrown towel.
"...Hey, you can't just toss a towel at me like that!" she protested. Undeterred by the complaints, Zephyr, unable to endure the chatter, flung a towel at her face before returning to her laptop.
"Report!" Zephyr demanded.
"Today, a delegation from Genovia sought our 'White Tigresses,' and we obliged. Training progresses as requested. Out of a hundred, forty-seven individuals have successfully navigated the four levels of the Loyalty test, with one level remaining. Seventy-eight new recruits joined our ranks today, and starting tomorrow, we commence training for beginners. Additionally, we're participating in the World Fighting Championship program next week . Your presence has been specifically requested this time. Unfortunately, I won't be there as I'll be in Wakanda. To fill my role temporarily, a new recruit arrives tomorrow, working under my guidance for a week. She'll serve as your assistant during my absence. That's the comprehensive update, Boss. Any further instructions or queries?"
Zephyr firmly declined, expressing her exhaustion.Vicky, concerned, pressed further. "Boss, you really should rest for a while. It won't benefit you to continue like this. You just came back from the trip. You didn't even take me with you when you went to Meriana! Can I ask why you even went there? Was it business-related?" she asked, noticing the tiredness etched on Zephyr's face.
Zephyr paused for a moment, her eyes distant. "It's something really personal," she finally said, her tone quiet but firm, signaling the end of the discussion.
"Okay fine!Have you taken your medicines?" Jonicca inquired, expressing genuine concern. "I forgot!" Zephyr replied, engrossed in typing on the laptop. "Oh dear, what am I going to do with you?" Jonicca shook her head, promptly fetching and administering Zephyr's forgotten medications.
"Ladies and gentlemen, let us extend a warm welcome to our esteemed chief guest, Miss Zephyr Martinez. Recently recognized as the Best Entrepreneur in the Security Service Sector, she graces us with her presence to share a few words with our students. Although her name is likely familiar to most, allow me to provide a brief introduction.
Zephyr Martinez, a 27-year-old Bachelorette, a national figure, and the current CEO of 'Armour'—an esteemed international bodyguard and security service company, overseeing the training of four thousand women. A formidable fighter, herself . Now, let us invite Miss Zephyr Martinez to the stage to receive the award and kindly share her insights." The host announced, and without hesitation, Zephyr approached
the platform, facing the eager audience of students.
"Good afternoon, everyone.Never let anyone grind you down. Like a toddler when you fall, muster up all your energy and stand up! Thank you," Zephyr concluded her brief but impactful speech.
"Well, that was concise!" Jonicca remarked. Given Zephyr Martinez's known preference for brevity, nobody was surprised. Zephyr rarely speaks much, and even Jonicca, accustomed to Zephyr's reserved nature, understands there are reasons behind it.
After delivering her speech, Zephyr and Jonicca took a seat to enjoy the remaining programs before saying their goodbyes. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as reporters clamored to capture photos, yet Zephyr's security team adeptly shielded her from the eager crowd. A small gathering formed, eager to catch a glimpse of the intelligent and captivating Zephyr, who had cultivated her own group of dedicated fans.
Zephyr's presence was undeniably formidable, capable of leaving others awestruck. Another distinctive trait was her measured responses – she wouldn't provide an immediate reply. Her moments of thoughtful silence could create a suspenseful atmosphere, with others anxiously awaiting the insights she eventually chose to share.
