There has never been a point in my life where I truly believed that the ones who said “I love you” were genuine; there was always a twist.
Maybe they only wanted me for what I could give them. Maybe I was fun to be around, I helped ease whatever pain they were going through. Whatever the case may be, I never “felt” like more than a place holder until the next best one came through. The “right” one, per se.
Until I met HER.
Our love story isn’t what most would consider beautiful. Its not all rainbow and butterflies. Hell, if we’re being completely honest it took us almost a year to get it right.
It took arguments and fights. Wanting to give up and walk away but not being able to leave one another alone.
It took tears and words that cant be taken back. It took apologies and forgiveness. It took healing wounds that you didnt even know were there and trusting that for the first time in your life, someone could actually love you in the way you deserve to be loved.
It took patience and understanding.
Even with the mess we endured with one another the first year, she was that girl. She was my best friend, my hero. The one who I knew in my heart would never abandon me even when I became almost unbearable.
She was home.
