Chapter 1: A Depressed Car Drive Home.
As snow gently cascaded from the night sky, it transformed Dominio City into a Winter Wonderland. Every corner was adorned with festive decorations, with each street light shimmering with holiday cheer. People adorned in Santa Claus attire stood by Salvation Army buckets, chiming bells as a gentle reminder of the season of giving. Stores gleamed with holiday displays, inviting passersby to revel in the joy of the holiday spirit. Meanwhile, snowplows diligently worked to clear the streets, ensuring a safe passage for all. Amidst this wintry scene, the KAIBA DOME blazed with activity as the Duel Monsters Tournament unfolded within its fiery walls. Duelists from all over the globe clashed in epic battles, each match driving the audience into a frenzy. However, amidst the excitement, one figure stood apart - Jaden Rhodes sat in his car in the parking lot, basking in the warmth of the car stove, listening intently to the tournament broadcast on the radio. A surge of excitement filled him as he learned that his brother-in-law, Zane Truesdale, had advanced to the finals of the tournament. Having successfully navigated through the initial and subsequent rounds of the tournament, he now found himself in the thrilling climax of the competition: the finals. Matched against a skilled duelist representing the Canadian Team, the showdown was set to be nothing short of electrifying. Zane confidently flaunted his powerful Cyber End Dragon on his side of the Field, towering over the Duelist from the Canadian Team who could only muster some feeble Weak Monsters. With a commanding voice, Zane directed the Cyber End Dragon to unleash its fierce attack. The arena trembled as the Cyber End Dragon struck with unstoppable force. In a blaze of victory, Zane emerged triumphant, claiming both the Duel and the Tournament. The Kaiba Dome erupted in cheers and applause, filled with the exhilaration of the moment. Even Jaden Rhodes couldn't contain his excitement amidst the jubilant celebrations. As the Kaiba Dome emptied out, Zane engaged in an interview with a News Reporter. An hour later, Jaden caught sight of Zane emerging from the venue's back door. Ready to depart, Jaden ignited the engine and navigated his car out of the parking lot stall. He steered towards Zane, who was loading his duffle bag and newly-won trophy into the back seat. Closing the back door, Zane then settled into the front passenger seat. With a swift turn of the key, Jaden set the car in motion, driving away from the scene.
Jaden congratulated Zane on his tournament victory with a wide grin spread across his face.
"Thanks," Zane replied.
"Zane, is something bothering you?", Jaden asked as they stopped at a traffic light.
Zane admitted, "I didn't succeed in securing the top spot as the best Duelist once more."
Jaden expressed, "Oh no, well, there's always next time," as he carried on driving.
As Jaden rounded a corner in the picturesque neighborhood, he leisurely drove down the tree-lined street until he reached the inviting driveway of his home. Alongside him were his beloved wife Alexis and their two youngsters. Their cozy abode stood just opposite Zane's residence, where he resided with his charming wife Tara and their lively brood of five kids. Bringing the car to a halt, Jaden and Alexis stepped out of the front seat, ready to start the evening in their welcoming neighborhood. Zane began gathering his belongings from the back seat of the car before heading towards his house. As Jaden strolled along the front porch sidewalk toward the house, he paused and met Zane's gaze.
Jaden peered at Zane; his brow furrowed in curiosity. "Um, Zane?" he inquired, his voice hanging in the air.
Without warning, Zane abruptly came to a halt and fixed his gaze upon Him.
Zane nodded affirmatively while locking eyes with his Brother-in-Law.
"If you ever need anything, we're just right across the street," Jaden reassured Zane with a compassionate gaze.
With a casual demeanor, Zane responded, 'Oh, Ok', and resumed his stroll across the bustling street.
As Jaden made his way towards his front porch, his steps resonated on the wooden planks, adding a symphony of sounds to the tranquil evening. Meanwhile, Zane strolled along the front porch sidewalk, his anticipation growing with each step. A sudden gleam caught his eye as he approached the front porch steps - lights were radiating from the living room window of the house. Peering through the glass, a heartwarming scene unfolded before him. His graceful wife, Tara Truesdale, adorned the Christmas Tree with precision and care, guided by their 10-year-old son Seto Truesdale. Alongside them, their 8-year-old son Rod Truesdale eagerly joined in the festive decoration. The room also held their 6-year-old Identical Twin Son and Daughter, Keith and Laura. Keith's focused gaze was fixed on crafting a Christmas Poem, while Laura's delicate fingers danced with melody on the Piano, rehearsing a Christmas Song. Yet, Zane's keen eyes scanned the room for their youngest daughter, 4-year-old Selena Truesdale, but she was nowhere in sight. With a mixture of curiosity and excitement, Zane stepped into the warm embrace of the house. In the grand foyer of the house, Zane stood, shedding his snow coat, hat, gloves, and boots.
