Chapter 1

Back in the day, everything was different. We never had cellphones, only Alexander's telephone. There are so much things in the past. I am Theodora Alonzo. Now you think that might be a weird name, but it is not. It is weird when people call me by my nickname, Theo. My mom is Gabrielle Alonzo. My dad is Nathan Alonzo. My parents decided for me to go on a master ferry. Not like a master ferry. Like a slavery ferry. You have to do really hard work. But at least you get a break. It is better than being a slave. My parents and brother would rather sacrifice their life to be a slave than have me also suffer with them. The ship was called Indonesia #5. That was because we were in Indonesia. This was two weeks earlier. Everything that has happened in my life, I write in my diary. So get ready.

Monday in the morning

I was super bored. But I was living it. Until Master Tina told me to get to work in the soup kitchen. The soup kitchen is where you make food. I was 14 years old so I was old enough to cook.

"Here is your first meal to cook: You are serving 6 people." Master Tina told me in the soup kitchen.

"6 people! It is my first day!" I replied.

"Yeah, so get to work." She handed me the order. This order was really long and it was just to drink.

The order said: Grape fruit juice, water, water, lemonade, tap water, bubbly water, and orange juice. I started juicing some lemonade. I added a little sugar and mixed it together. I juiced some grape fruit. When I finished making all the drinks, I put them all on a plate and wobbled out their order. I kept on tripping and I tripped over my shoe laces and spilled their drinks over at there table. They all gasped.

"So sorry, I will clean that up right away." I told them. I rain back into the kitchen. I quickly made another batch and gave it to the table.

"Any appetizers?" I asked.

"We would all like breadsticks." a man told me. I nodded and went into the soup kitchen. I grabbed 6 plates and plopped 4 breadsticks on each plate. I baked them and added some spices to it. I went out of the soup kitchen and handed it to their table.

"Okay, any entrees?" I asked.

"We all decided we would like Chicken Alfredo, but cut it up into 24 diagonal squares." a woman told me.

I nodded and went back into the soup kitchen. I got a plate and started making the Chicken Alfredo. When I was finished, I sliced the Chicken Alfredo into diagonal squares. I got out six plates. I put 4 squares on each plate because 6 plates times 4 squares equals 24 squares of Chicken Alfredo. When I was finished, I grabbed all the plates and went to Table 4, the table I was serving. I handed out the plates.

They all nodded.

"Dessert?" I asked.

They nodded no. I got them their check and they left. I cleaned up and washed up the dishes.

"Okay, time for another order." Master Tina told me.

"But the first one I just did was hard enough." I replied.

"Did I say it was time for a Q/A?"

"No."

Five hours later...

I finished all my orders, and I was bushed. I sat down in a chair in the soup kitchen.

"Okay, here is you schedule. on Monday's, Tuesday's, and Wednesday's, you will be working in the soup kitchen, and on Thursday's, Friday's, you will be working the water and getting towels, making sure there room is clean when the guests arrive. And on Sunday's, soup kitchen in the morning and evening, and the guest room service in the afternoon. Also, in a week, you'll be getting a new partner." Master Tina told me.

I nodded. It was 3:00 am. I went upstairs to my room, turned off my light, and crawled into bed and went to sleep.
