Lacey is the daughter of the Alpha and Luna of the Bank Wolf Pack. Her brother is the heir. She had to raise herself beginning at ten years old as her parents had duties to attend to and to get her brother ready to take over the pack. They ignore her when she comes into the room and pretends she don’t exist. Her brother is too busy with his training. His wife and mate Bethany is her best friend. Bethany is the only one who talks to her. She tried talking to them for Lacey but they change the subject. Soon Bethany came to her and told her that she overheard them talking with another pack and when asked about their children, they say that their son Luke is their only child. The whole pack ignores her as well. Bethany and her parents sat down with her and told her what they knew. Mitch didn’t want her to begin with and when Lacey turned ten, he gave Maria an ultimatum, him or Lacey. Maria knowing she couldn’t go on without her mate chose him and gave up her daughter. They talked to the pack and told them they no longer had a daughter. They even said she was never their daughter and that they had taken her in and they had no time for her anymore so she was on her own as she was too much to handle. Lacey was going to turn 18 soon. She had gotten her wolf and she was thankful to John and Bobbie for being there for her. Soon it was the day before her birthday and Lacey was sitting by the creek staring at the water.
“Lacey,” Bethany said.
“Hey,” Lacey said.
“Tomorrow is your birthday,” Bethany said.
“Yes and I have big plans,” Lacey said.
“And what’s that?” Bethany asked.
“I’m leaving,” Lacey said.
“What?” Bethany asked.
“I can’t stay here anymore, it’s time for me to go,” Lacey said.
“Lacey,” Bethany said.
“You and your parents are the only ones who care about me, everyone else is following the orders of the Alpha and pretend I don’t exist, to everyone I’m just a lowly pack member, you outrank me because you are married to the future Alpha and will be Luna of the pack,” Lacey said.
“And I have big plans,” Bethany said.
“Bethany,” Lacey said.
“Lacey, Luke is taking over next month, I plan on talking to the pack and telling them the truth,” Bethany said.
“And have Luke overrule you,” Lacey said.
“He won’t have a choice,” Bethany said.
“Bethany, I’m leaving tomorrow, I’ve made up my mind,” Lacey said.
“Oh Lace,” Bethany said.
“I just can’t stay here anymore,” Lacey said.
“I hate that you are going,” Bethany said.
“I know but I’m not wanted here, only you and your parents do but no one else, I don’t exist anymore to them, I sometimes wonder why they had me,” Lacey said.
“I’ll miss you,” Bethany said.
“I’ll miss you too,” Lacey said. Bethany and Lacey hugged and cried together.
