Chapter 1

Malaya grabbed her phone checking it. It was a little late and she was at her house. It was great to know that Marissa and Reed were doing well. Jordan dropped the to cool act and Joshua is still the annoying jerk he's always been. Jermany, she's still boujee. John-her father-called her. "Hey dad." "Hey kid. So. I need you to like help me out here." "Sure thing. What's up?" "So. I need you to get a file from my assistant. His name is Damari." "What does he look like." "Ummm. He has a few tattoos, mixed skin tone, tall, and he wears 2-3 chains. With a couple rings." "He married or sumn?" "Nope. He single." "So he just got rings for show?" "No. Their from accomplishments." "Oh. Ok. Chains?" "Same. Now can you do this quick? I need the file like now." "Yep. Just let me get ready." She hung up and got ready. She wore a v-neck shirt and some ripped plaid bell-bottoms. Malaya walked into the giant place. She was only there twice. The first time she gave her father some food, then the second time she was like 12 coming to see her father with her mother. A woman looked at her and smiled. "Hello. How can I help you?" "I wanted to pick up a file for my father?" "Mhm. What's his name?" She walked over to the woman. "John Adams." The woman looked at her for a minute. "Your John Adams daughter?" Malaya nodded. "I can't believe I'm staring at you in the flesh." "I'm just a kid." "Your not here. Here your amazing. But anyways. Your father isn't here." "Yes. I know. I was to pick up a file from his assistant Damari." "Ooook." The woman typed up a few things on her computer and then walked from behind the counter. "Follow me." Malaya followed the woman to the top floor. It was so many floors. Then they walked into the hall. "Be prepared though. Damari is um...the definition of dominant. Especially when he gets mad." Malaya chuckled. "He will not control me." "That's what everyone says. If it was me. Just by his looks I'll do anything for him." Malaya curled her lip. "I'm sure he isn't that fine." "Ha!" She knocked on the door. "Come in." His voice was a little deep but not too deep. She opened the door. "This is Malaya, John's daughter." He nodded and waved her off. "Good luck." The woman whispered then left. Malaya closed the door. "I need to pick up a file for him." He opened a drawer and searched through a few papers. He did look fine. Better than fine. He had light brown eyes that were mesmerizing. His shirt was long and baggy pants. He looked like a wrapper himself. Damari looked up at her. "Can I help you?" "Your doing it now actually. You know, if you go faster that would be nice." "Don't rush me. Fixing your attitude would be nice." "Excuse me? I'm not the one sitting here taking all day to find a godam paper." He set the file down biting his tongue. "Really?" "Yes really." He stood up. "How about you look for it yourself. Since I'm talking to long for your hearts desire." She rolled her eyes and grabbed the files. Malaya looked through them then put it down. "You don't know which it is do you? Figured." He grabbed it and handed her the file. "You can go." "I can kick myself out." He scoffed. "Whatever. Just get the fuck out." She gripped the file and walked out. She smiled. He was so her type.
