Snow Day [AK x ME x NY]
It was the middle of January, when the weather in Buffalo, NY is usually at its coldest. They had arrived not long after the New Years celebration, where they watched the ball drop. NYC was fun, but after the celebration, it quickly got a bit dirty from the rubbish and rats.
So they traveled up here to Lake Erie, where the view and trash (not to mention, the amount of people) was especially better. They had planned to go for a nice walk along the lake, but the weather had been a bit too chilly due to the lake breeze.
Normally New York wouldn’t care — sure, maybe he wouldn’t wear a proper coat with gloves and earmuffs — but it was fine.
Well, to him at least. Alaska and Maine had very much cared about what he wore outside. Why is how they got into this slight argument now.
“I’m telling yous, I’ll be fine. It’s literally my city, I can handle it way better than you’d think.” New York frowned.
“Yeah, and I’m the coldest state in the entire USA — I’m famous for my cold weather, after all! So I what I think is that you need to go put on proper winter clothes, or we’re not ordering NYC style pizza.” Alaska exclaimed sternly.
“Oh come on! All because of some damn—“
“You know, New York,” Maine chimed in, “you’re acting quite the, what’s the right word… oh yes, brat right now.” He smirked, in a half-jokingly way.
New York flustered. “N-Now you fuckin’ listen here yous—“
“York.” Alaska spoke. New York shut up, slightly nervous at Alaska’s kind demeanor dropping, knowing this was serious. “All we’re asking for you is to put on a proper winter coat instead of just your New York Yankers jacket.“
“But—“
“If you would like,” Maine interrupted, giving New York is coat, “you could wear my coat, if it makes you feel better. I know you like my smell, anyway.” Maine smiled warmly. “Don’t worry, I have a spare.”
New York flushed, but he was right. He couldn’t get enough of the scent of the forest and flowers, and Maine reeked of it.
“… Alright, fine,” he put on the coat, doing the zipper, “… I’m sorry. This was so fucking stupid.”
“Hey, hey! Don’t worry about it—we get it, it’s your city anyways, we just want you to be safe.” Alaska chimed in, Maine nodding.
New York gave a small smile. “I’m glad you guys don’t get tired of me.”
Alaska and Maine both went to hug New York. “We never will, cause we both know despite your hard shell, you’re sweet on the inside. As corny as that may sound—“ Maine chuckled. New York closed his eyes and leaned into the hug.
He really got lucky.
