Chapter 1
It was a cold, dark night. So cold the blood froze, slowing the bleeding. They came too quickly, so quietly. There was no time to sound alarm bells, no time to fight back. It's like they were theives in the night. Where were the guards? Were they paid off? I escaped through a trap door in my room and ran into the forest. Oh gods, the screams I can still hear them, I can taste the blood in the air. I can smell the blood, the smell of copper floats on the air, and settles around me. If I had the strength, I would gag from the smell and taste. But, my strength is waning. Breaths are shallow, my eyes heavy. I am glad I wore clothes to hide who really am. My jewel is hid. Let them think I am alive, I want them looking over their shoulders, afraid that I'll take back what is mine. My death is near. I can feel it. How did I not hear the arrow? I should've heard it.
